I love liners. I never ever wear gloss without one. I have no idea why that is other than I'm a creature of habit. Lol.

sss215 - did you get the Spice l/g? I have it and love it and you know we have similar tastes. It's a very nice neutral. It made me finally give Heroine (from WW so the brown gloss not the purple matte lipstick) a break.

Speaking of liners with gloss, I tried Spice with NYX's Pumpkin liner and I adored the combo. On paper it doesn't look like it would work, but I would tell anyone to try it. Something about the burnt orange in the liner helped bring out the rosey part in the gloss. Again, sounds weird, but it was very nice.
I actually have Pumpkin lip liner and Spice l/g so I will give that a try. Sounds interesting.

I am going to get Chesnut because it makes the perfect lip erase. It's the same color as my top lip. It's perfect cause MAC doesn't make a lip erase that dark. At least I'm not aware if they do.
I would love to get Chestnut for mixing purposes alone. Maybe it would cancel out the hideous effect of Myth???

I agree with you somewhat about lipstick sraight from the tube being traditional and for a lot of women it works with most lipsticks. I however want to add that for a lot of WOC a liner is sometimes essential to being able to wear nudes or bold, bright lipsticks. I am talking about coordinating or neutral liners close to the natural color of the lip...not dated super dark liner and a pale lip. I also think that saying cut creases are dated is a little bit of a broad statement as well. If you look at runway or current fashion magazines I'm sure you will see a version of it.
yep yep... But for me, I use a brown liner, to neutralize my pink lips. When I wear a color close to my lip tone it does nothing. I could never wear a color like WMS without a brown liner, blended out. Toast liner by NYX is my staple. I wear all of my nudes with this. Also paired it with Runaway red. I have very pink lips, warm golden skin, the only thing that looks good straight out of the tube are some pinks and purples like flaunting it.

now I will wear my glosses without one. To be honest, to wear or not to wear a liner depends on the lipstick, andhow much time I have. LOL

I don't know why, but i've never figured out how to get lip liners to work - i can do facial contouring, i can do multi-colored eyes - i can work with multiple lipsticks and glosses to get an interesting lip or custom color - but somehow i haven't been able to get the hang of lip liners. (And that 90's dark liner with lighter l/s look >always< made me cringe.)

Any hints? I'm fair between 15 & 20 neutral, with moderately dark lips, rose with a hint of blue, and a well defined cupid's bow. Now that i'm becoming aged :) the vermillion is lightening a bit around the edges, but no vertical wrinkles so far. I tend to wear blue-violet (from pale to dark), deep plum, pinky-peach, or cool brown lip colors - with excursions into actual blue and green lips.

I guess mebbee i should get one of my friendly MAC mua's to play with me a little...

This does make me want to give it a try.  I have that great brown toned lip liner from Tour De Fabulous, that I can never remember the name of... This is exactly what Myth looks like on me!  I freaking love Chappell.  I'm Rick James, biiioch! I would love to get Chestnut for mixing purposes alone.  Maybe it would cancel out the hideous effect of Myth???
That's a possibility. Chestnut isn't the first color people run too cause its isn't flashy or spring/summery, but I think it has more possibilities as a beauty tool. Changing colors, neutralizing, and maybe even contouring, some people use lipsticks on the cheeks, so why not?

I went out for dinner with my boyfriend tonight. Here's what Impassioned lipstick and the matching lipglass looks like on me. I really think the Impassioned set is a sleeper. It's super underrated. I hope more people check this set out! It's a gorgeous shade, and I can see this working on so many skin tones. I like it because it's a warm, pinky red. The FOTN and list of products used are on my blog.

your makeup is flawless!

It's really pretty but casual, I like it :)
I am also super jealous of how long your hair is - I'm trying to grow mine but curly hair grows in spirals....

I really like the color of Snob but its the only lipstick I have ever owned I feel I need to wear l/g with it. The formula is really drying on me. I love Snob l/g though.

You're right about Impassioned Lipglass. It's underrated for sure. When I saw it in person it just channeled the HK collection with more brightness. I can't wait to throw in some reflects. I also love the hue of Rebel polish.

I miss the older formula of Lipglasses. Some of them have this thick, less sticky texture that settles into the lines. I find that the texture is hard to blend and then it fades quickly. I noticed this with my Myth Lipglass. I've been comparing my Lipglasses from different collections throughout the years and I can tell the quality is changing.

I've been playing with Impassioned for a little bit and I'm underwhelmed with it. Too sheer for my taste, looks so regular. In a couple of weeks(a tad broke at the moment

) I'll try it with the lipstick to see if it improves my opinion on it.
