It's funny. I remember a few years ago, I had ordered like a large amount of products within like a month's period (just started getting into makeup and MAC). I placed an order for mineralized duo eyeshadows when they first came out. I ordered all of them, and they called me up the next day and told me that I had reach a spending limit and they were cancelling my order. I was like wth. I've never in my life heard of something like that. Now, I get worried I'm going to get that call one day when I place an order. It didn't make sense to me then and doesn't now. If you're a business, why would you cap off how much someone spends on your products...
I always attributed it to a shipping liability thing, in case they had to replace a missing package or something of that nature. However, I didn't know that there was a $500 cap per month, I thought it was per order.

I KNOW! I have been trying to find Heroine and CYY since they came out. The weird, secret, tiny restocks! No-one on MUA wants anything I have to swap for it. Fair enough, but it's so frustrating. I only want 1 of each! :) I used to do BUs, but never ran out of any color before the BUs went bad.
They're way too much money on ebay and I'm not sure I want to support this behavior. I did find a still fresh Blueberry Fizz for like $35. I'm cool with that...But for stuff that's recent and artificially unavailable, It's like, how much energy and time do i want to spend waiting for a restock and constantly updating the sites on my phone? Apperently a lot of time and energy? Can y'all suggest safe places to swap/buy from folks? I've been stalking Specktra for-ev-er, and joined up a few years ago, and am *finally* contributing - so I'm not qualified for the Clearance Bin yet. May the Lipstick odds be ever in my favor.

Heroine is such a beautiful color! I love it. Didn't it take a while for it to sell out?

I just forgot to add that order can also be cancelled if they look like duplicates. So if you order four Rocker on day 1 and four Rocker on day 2, the system might cancel the order as it "recognizes" it as a "duplicate order."

The $500 max purchase is for one item, i.e. to avoid that somebody order all the stock of one single item which looks very suspicious as the person might just want to sell it. There are also order limits for Pros, but usually it can be sorted out with a phone call. E.g. if you need a specific product for a performance or fashion show and have to use this item on a lot of people, it's very easy to go over the max purchase. If that happened to me, I just called them to place my order and I explained my reason (and emailed proof if required, e.g. cast lists, etc.).

I hope that clarifies this policy.
I was discussing the PRO limits with Shell the other day... Our limit is four of any one product per order as well as regular customers, which I have always found strange. If you are a performer or MUA, it makes complete sense that you would need more than 4 of a single item. If a certain lipstick is your "every night" stage lip color AND you want 1 or 2 tubes for your personal collection...
So 4+ for your professional kit or use and 1-2 for personal use could easily put you in a rough spot with MAC's quantity policies. I think they should base their terms on an individual PRO's purchase history. I get that would be hard to monitor, but it would definitely cut back on a valid customer missing out on a product. I have never had the problem of having my order cancelled, but I can imagine it is frustrating! Especially with LE, sold out items.

And in the case of mac aiken not being able to order as many Rocker's as she wants! It's not even sold out! And it's her go-to lippie! MAC should realize that they are not stopping the problem, just keeping honest people from items they love. So, I agree with honeymilk that MAC should just make more stock and allow people to buy. They shouldn't worry as much who's buying them, as you will never really know the intentions of every buyer. And if someone wants to pay some outrageous eBay price... more power to them! If more stock was available, those products would not get as high a price in the first place. And if people didn't buy the products at those high costs, people would have to stop selling them. It's just a cycle that cannot be stopped.

I hope everyone is able to get their hands on the products they want at a reasonable price! Hopefully, the Specktra peeps that have bu's that won't be used could share with the ones that may have missed out! We should share the LOVE and not get caught up in the drama. TBH, a lot of us are unintentionally part of the problem by buying multiples of items we may not even use out of fear of loving something that we think will sell out. I know I'm guilty of buying 2-3 of something JUST because it's LE and I think "if I LOVE it, I don't want to have to be without it!" I may be adding to the problem of someone that just wants one not getting it! I've definitely tried harder lately to really evaluate my personal and professional needs more realistically.

Not sure. I just thought it was weird. The order was for like $100 I think, which I'm sure everyone in here has had an order of at least that much. They just told me that since I bought so much so soon (no duplicates of anything), they were going to cancel my order. I think I had spent ~$300 in that month. I don't think they do it anymore, cause I've spent a lot this past month getting heavenly creature items, by request, and adding some permanent items to my collection as well.

The MAC rep was telling me on the phone last week that it's $500/month as the limit per account. But again, that seems arbitrarily enforced. I'm still a little cheesed that MAC canceled my order with 4 CYY in favor of reinstating my second order with 2 CYY. Because I was "over the limit". Ok, so they enforced me to have 2 instead of canceling that and letting me have the 4 I ordered first.
I thought it was $500 per order. I've definitely spent more than $500/month. How odd.

I have never ever had that happen and spend like a mad woman some months! That is just silly that they would do that.

I don't know what is wrong with Ebay buyers. I really, really don't. I was on there to gawk and the outrageous CCY prices and notice MAC Red going for $22 and couldn't believe it. All you have to do is log onto Dillards, Macys, Nordstrom or MAC and get it for $15. It is like people just assume ebay prices are the lowest possible bargain rate or only place to get something.

Admittedly I did bid on some NP but my max bid was current price for that line. Make-up is not worth it. Now if they, meaning sellers, happen to find a tube of Glam I might break down but then I have never ever gotten my MAC from anywhere but the aforementioned. Well Barney, The Bay and other dept stores. I haven't even thought of trading or buying off of a blog sale because I worry bout the counterfeit issue.

I do realize this is a not good attitude. Especially since I happen to have several BU of stuff that I am contemplating parting with. Yesterday I was going through my lipsticks and realized I have Thrown Away tons due to being sick of vampie or what not so figured to pick a dedicated tube to wear. I picked Ms Behavin from benefit as a good semi sheer berry that is perfect for fall weather and needs lots of reapplication. So there I am dabbing the stuff on and decide to see if anybody had problems with coverage and it is D/C Which immediately led to the oh no I better not wear it cus I can't replace it thinking. I don't know how to get over that mentality and really need to ~ all my lippies are so beautiful but I don't want to wear them for fear of running out.

I was almost one of those eBay buyers last night. I had to stop myself from buying a Moxie someone was selling. It was only $28.99 which I don't consider to be that bad but I would've felt really stupid especially if there is a restock.

I'm really thinking about getting the Shocking pink, since I'm looking for a darker neon pink
