I heard through the grapevine that by the end of next week, most stores and counters should have received their stock for this collection. This means you can go and swatch in the backroom. I know I will!

I wish I could, but we will have to wait till march I'm afraid...*sigh* march is so far away...

T didn't steal pics? But why are a couple of girls on here saying that she did? Why would they lie about that and if you're so sure how do you know? I'm asking because I was not around when all of that stuff happened and honestly believe the girls on here before I would believe T. I hope your don't feel offended, because that's really not how this is meant. I'm just wondering.
I do not agree that so many products were bad. I actually thought this was a great year for Mac

I feel like often the problem with for example quads is, is that people swatch them with their fingers and some textures just can handle that and you really shouldn't touch them at all with your fingers. When they are swatched with a brush and never before touched with fingers they can be great.
I do hope Mac will release more EDES, because indeed those were amazing!
There have been so many false accusations in the years I've been reading. As with the touching with fingers, I always am careful to not do that, or touch anything with a dirty brush either. MAC will always be my favorite brand, and for my the most part, the only brand I buy, and I used to just buy everything that was a pretty color, despite reviews. But in doing that, I wasted a lot of money on products that will never be used since I have no way of selling them. I'm a bit disappointed that they keep making crappy products permanent instead of great products, but hell as long as they keep releasing Extra Dimension eyeshadows, I don't care how horrible their regular ones are.

At least you get the benefit of seeing lots of swatches and reviews before it is released in your country. That's a big advantage, though I can certainly see your point that waiting for a collection is frustrating. But you get Strength in February, right?

Yeah it has both a plus and a minus side. As long as I can go to a counter it is not the biggest problem if we don't have swatches, but then I might bring home more than I should or less and regret things, because I didn't have time to think about it. Yes we get Strength in february, but only online and I've had bad experience with Mac online, so luckily I was able to get a cp! I already got 2 lippies and the rest will follow this or next week hopefully.

I didn't see those, but then again I'm only part of the community since february 2010. I'm glad the reviews do help you not to purchase stuff you don't like. I guess we just have different tastes. I'm not always looking for the most pigmented shadow, because it can end up way higher than I want it to. I also don't understand everything about which things they make permanent, but I guess it has also to do with ingredients not being available all the time and stuff like that that we don't hear of. It's easy for us to say to make this and that colours permanent, but sometimes that might not be an option and of course the hype of something being limited has a lot to do with it as well.

Yup. Her lip freckle really helps me assess how opaque a lipstick is.
It is a very useful freckle for that very purpose! I really like her swatches and she is one of the few who does them on the lips, so even if she hates MAC and feels the need to bash them, I still read her reviews. I do tend to take what she says with a grain of salt. She is entitled to her opinion, and evidently she does feel MAC has let her down in some way, maybe that their quality isn't what is used to be or soemthing like that, but she takes it quite personally soemtimes. Yeah, a more expensive product is going to be better in quality (well, it should be) but MAC to me is the brand that is in the mid range and often turns out quality products that are as good as or better than the high end brands. Sure they turn out a dud once in a while but I believe it was Einstein who said anyone who hasn't made a mistake has never tried anything new. (okay, its a paraphrase, but my it gets my point across). As much as I laugh about T's predictability in bashing MAC, I still go to her site first and her MAC database is the shit, so I am not knocking her. I appreciate her site. And as long as its getting hits, I am sure she can laugh all the way to the bank.

I actually thought he was kinda cute before the the roids and the make up and stuff. I was trying to think of a hot 'ginger' but I am failing here. Axl Rose comes to mind, but he hasn't weathered the last ten years very well either. The more I think of it, the more the MAC Archie model is starting to grow on me. But yeah, it must be a very small town.

I'm probably in the minority, but I don't like heavily pigmented eyeshadows. I hate the Naked palette, and it seems to be everyone's HG. I found it challenging to get a light enough application.

I don't like a heavy makeup look, particularly now that I'm getting older. I rocked 80s makeup looks when younger but find a more subtle makeup look to be more flattering now. That doesn't mean I won't wear a bold red lip or that I have a no makeup look, but simply that I find a more subdued application looks better and is more appropriate (professionally, etc).

I love EDES - I have five. I also love MAC's standard eyeshadows; I have two complete 15-pan palettes, 3 duos and a few loose singles. There's nothing wrong, IMO, with their regular eyeshadows. There's no question that I think some shades are easier to work with than others, but part of that is personal preference (I don't like overly frosty/metallic wet look shades as a rule) and part application technique (I use a VERY light hand when applying some of my fave uber pigmented shades like Peacock, Bottle Green and Indian Ink and don't like shades that can't be applied in a sheer way). Having said that, any company with this many launches and products WILL have some duds. I expect that. I've really come to love NARS e/s and blush, but I think the entire Andy Warhol collection is a massive disappointment. I didn't like some of MAC's launches this year either. That doesn't mean I hate MAC or that others are 'wrong' who liked them, simply that we all have preferences and use products in slightly different ways and that will play into our perception of a product's quality.

Whether or not T's opinions reflect many of those here has been debated multiple times since I arrived. I personally greatly value her swatches and pics; they've been tremendously helpful to me. As for opinions, we're all entitled to our own and I have no problem with someone having a different one than mine. Reading a variety of perspectives on a product is helpful; in the end I make up my own mind. I don't think that she gives MAC consistent low marks; I've seen plenty of A ratings lately. She posted an update earlier this week to let people know that the Strength lippies had been restocked so those who missed out could get them. She doesn't care for MES and is pretty up front about that while acknowledging that some others love them. The woman is entitled to her opinion and I've never understood the distain that is sometimes heaped on her for sharing her thoughts on her own blog . It's impossible to please everyone and I think that a blogger should be true to his/her beliefs and values. People are free to read or not. If I consistently don't agree with someone's opinions or don't enjoy their blog, I just don't go back. Problem solved.

I'm MAC obsessed and own too much to count however am not as up on the news and what not and have tried to read through this thread. I just got a card in the mail about the Archie's collection which I'm very excited about as I'm "old enough" to remember. LOL. :sheep: Anyway I've seen mentioned many times in this thread the color story - sorry to seem dense but what is that? Does that mean the specifics and photos of each item in the collection? For the last several collections I was late and most items were sold out before I even knew about them which is starting to frustrate me as I'm sure it does everyone else. :thud:

Ah ok, what I suspected but wasn't sure. So that a proper wishlist can be planned! Thank You!!
Yep indeed. I think we have a large part already, but we don't know all the glosses or the nail polishes and some descriptions for the rest is not complete and hopefully their will be accessories.

How about Damian Lewis (Brody in Homeland)? He's pretty cute.

That hair (natural or otherwise) is glorious. Having said that, even with the broody chiseled features it would show up my own natural chestnut mane (the younger, fuller, pre-grey version, I mean) so much that I'd never have stood beside him. So he's off my list. What good is a beautiful man who outperforms where you usually do? Nope. ;)

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE his hair and color. I don't like very long hair on men (my own personal opinion), but it looks good on him. He also seems like a "pretty" boy. I like my men a tad bit more masculine looking. Brad Pitt isn't my type, but someone like Liam Neeson is.

Sorry folks. My multi quote doesn't seem to be working today. As for Carrot Top. NO!! Just NO!!!! He wasn't so bad looking when he first came on the scene, but what the @#$&* has he done to himself? NO! Please, just say NO to plastic surgery and steroids.
sick.gif

oh god, have you seen Carrot Top lately???

Plastic surgery + steroids nightmare (plus crappy makeup on top of it all). He was kinda boyishly cute way back when he was first starting out (not that I want to comment on his comedy act, lol).

This is the first time I heard of this Carrot Top personality and I honestly thought the pic was someone's idea of a Photoshop prank.

Poor chap. It must be awful seeing that in the mirror each day.
