I agree that it had to be somebody new because that doesn't sound right at all. I believe people have the option of paying for the makeover without getting products for their money, but it's only an option (and a silly one at that...I mean really, why would anyone do that? lol).there's one artist i really want to sign up with, but somehow the scheduling hasn't worked out so far. it's strange, my local store told me that i couldn't just sign up for a makeover without an event. well, you can, but you don't get any products for your $50. i was kind of surprised to hear that, and now that i'm seeing your comment, i wonder if i just spoke to someone who was new and didn't understand the policy?
Sometimes you can't just walk in and get your makeup done (especially on a weekend), but if you make an appointment and spend at least $50 on products (which seems to have been your plan!), that should never be a problem. At least not that I've ever heard of! I HAVE heard of some stores (not counters) saying people have to buy at least $75 of products to have their makeup done on days that are considered special events. The store by me did that this past New Year's Eve. Honestly, I was surprised at that and wondered if that was a new companywide policy, or if it was just that store.
Regardless, the point is, I have never heard of having to pay $50 to get your makeup done at any MAC without taking products home. Try talking to someone else there and see what happens.
