I know right? When I first heard about this I thought I was going to want everything. But turns out, my list is very small. Actually quite proud of myself. April on the other hand :thud:

I actually don't agree that she has bashed everything. I think her criticism has mostly been with the eyeshadows, which I completely agree that many have been of poor quality lately. She has given plenty of A ratings for lipsticks and glosses. I think that, just as there are people here who are complaining about her feeding into the negative comments on her page, there seem to be a lot of people here who are feeding into the negativity without having all the facts to back it up. Really not trying to point fingers here, but I think T deserves plenty of credit for being honest in her reviews and giving full length reviews/comparisons. She is a blogger, but she does consider it a job, not a hobby like other bloggers, so she does take it seriously. Wouldn't you take it seriously if you were trying to support yourself rather than do it in your spare time?

I rarely read Karen's blog because her coloring is so different from mine and I can't make an accurate assessment of what the colors would look like on me. I loved her post about Archie, but it wasn't very informative to me. I'd rather know if the purchase is justified or if I can skip it.

I just wanted to pop in and comment about this... There was a long period of time there that T got the whole collection sent to her from MAC. However, she bashed nearly EVERYTHING. It seemed to be poor color, poor texture, poor packaging, poor yadda yadda. It resulted in a lot of C, D, and F ratings with her recommending basically nothing. Why on earth should MAC send all of that stuff to her for free when she just bashes it all? She obviously loves her higher end stuff much better- and that's great- but it's unrealistic to think that her followers all have the cash to spend on Guerlain etc. So, now she has to buy it all herself or be forced to not have swatches. Seems fair to me. Also, and this is just a tiny observation..... Her MAC reviews have gone up a smidge (A, B, & Cs) since she started buying her stuff again. This is purely speculation, but I've been wondering if she is buttering up MAC to get her stuff for free again. Not saying the reviews have changed a lot, but I feel like MAC has been averaging higher scores lately ;) With that said, I do check out her swatches but I do not like her photography set up anymore. I think using more diffused light would help with glossy/ shiny products. It's hard to tell accurate color sometimes. My fav swatches would be Karen, Allura, and Specktra :eyelove: everyone is so sweet and helps with swatches as much as possible here..... And that is just awesome. :)
I dont think T bashed them purposely.. I feel she does give her honest opinion. Plus the products she rates low are usually the quads, eyeshadows and such (which lets be honest, MAC does do poor on those lately). However I do see that she prefers the higher end and that mayyybe she might have become a little biased. Nevertheless I think that she is still one,if not the best, blog out there and MAC should keep that in mind. Anyways sorry to continue on the subject, I just dnt know how to shut up :$. On the other handdd, Kerens review on Flatter Me makes me want to get it so bad! But is it me or Shell Pearl from LOL is more baby pink than peach? At least mine is so hopefully I can get Flatter Me without feeling bad! :D

I'm trying to figure out perm dupes 1) to trim down my list, or 2) in case I miss what I want, and I can't figure out Kiss And Don't Tell. Your swatch (thanks btw!) is giving this beautiful rich coral and Karen's swatches are pulling a major left into the pink lane. Both are gorgeous but now I am discombobulated by swatch. With ice cream. And a list that is still too big.
Kiss and Don't Tell is between our photos in terms of tone. I don't remember it being as pink as Karen's swatch, and it definitely wasn't quite as orange as mine since the lighting that I had when I took that picture was yellow incandescent light. I remember the gloss being a solid coral that had a nice mix of pink and orange tones, but I think it swung more towards orange than pink.

For me...since being sold to Estee Lauder I just don't see ALL of the MAC I used to really respect. Like I said I still love them, but I also see a lot of stiff competition coming up in the makeup world and judge them on how they're responding to it as well as what their customers/clients want/need. I like both boards Specktra and Temptalia, and I've never let a negative comment keep me from getting my makeup love on

Talk mess all you want, it's all about the Q-U-A-L-I-T-Y baby!

Considering how MAC runs it's sales, promotions, answering customers (with 400 different answers) I don't think T even HAD to do anything. Lol, MAC loves the hype and mystery and getting people IN the store and ON the website. Better to have customers flying around and panicked and buying 4 of everything than have them analyze a picture, read a review, and make a calm informed decision. Ironically I bet if she stopped reviewing MAC completely without a PR sample they'd probably start sending her a ton, but hey...if someone's already putting THEIR money on the table to get a whole collection to review for the masses...again MAC knows what it's doing.

I always like that T is honest, there are some other bloggers who will post swatches that you can just tell the product is horrible, yet they will still say oh yeah, it's a good product...screw that, be honest no matter who gets angry about it. MAC's quality has went down, at least with powder products, but I still love MAC. And I don't get why people are complaining about what comments T approves...she seems to approve them all. I often see comments on there of people even bashing her and she leaves them there. But T has never bashed MAC or given any hint that she dislikes them, so I don't get why people keep saying "well if she hates them so much..." So really, if a person doesn't like honest reviews, don't read her site...go to one of the sites that pretends that every product is great no matter what the truth really is.

Temptalia.com it's addicting. But very sad to see she's sponsoring proctor and gamble?? Since they conduct animal experiments.

We have the same prices as you.

Ronnie's red lippie and gloss are looking too good. Dang! I don't need more reds (haven't got my AP yet!). Hope it's very blue...
So you're definitely getting AP then? Yay!

I wasn't much of a red fan until quite recently and I thought all red lippies looked the same. Now that I'm hooked I can see differences that probably don't even exist. It makes justifying yet another red lippie really rather easy

My thoughts exactly. It really is strange. I don't have Shell Pearl but Karen's Flatter Me swatches look nothing like Shell Pearl swatches I've seen online. So maybe it's not the same product after all? Flatter Me looks nowhere near as glowy as Shell Pearl does in pics.

Might as well get both and see for ourselves

Ooooh you're evil! Buuuuuuuuuuuuuut I am actually contemplating the same, just get both.

And red lipstick is always good. Has it ever really been out of fashion?

You know what I do? I use her swatch gallery that's listed in the bar above all her posts and I can visually compare a lipstick I'm thinking of buying to the lipstick I believe it will look most closely to. In a lot of ways that's better for me than typical swatches. There's a lot to be said about how a lipstick looks on the lips and I like that for things MAC seems to be putting out a ton of (pink lipsticks) I'm able to gage how unique the color really is.

Seeing alot of disappointment here in Boyfriend Stealer l/s..... It reminded me that at my CCO a few days ago I came across Faultlessly l/s from the Trend F/W '09 collection. It's an amplified finish & BEAUTIFUL purple vampy color. I'd be happy to do a CP or even a trade with any of you lovelies who aren't happy with Boyfriend Stealer's finish/color. PM if interested !

And I'm gonna say one thing, and then be done. A lot of people seem to have a problem with how many negative comments she lets through, but I'd bet the rest of my college education that if she started only letting through the comments saying how wonderful everything is, then those same people would complain about how she's creating a falsely positive environment in order to attract more readers or something to that effect. Christine just can't win. Whenever I happen to read through comments, they're mostly about thanking her for taking the time to be so thorough and honest in her assessment of the products. Yes, there are those that voice their displeasure for certain things, but there are just as many saying they love a product and have to have it. It all depends on the review itself. Give the product a high grade, you'll see more positive comments. Give it a low one, and you'll see more negative comments. If YOU know you like a certain product, then don't get so riled up when someone says they don't. They're entitled to their opinion just as much as the rest of us.
