MAC x Archie's Girls (Betty & Veronica) Collection Discussion (February 2013)

It's my daughter's 11th birthday today and part of her gift was Mall Madness. She was just beside herself and probably applied it 3 or 4 times before she even left for school. I give her a month (max) before the tube is empty and she's already told me that she doesn't want to BTM it because of the packaging.

She's been lusting after MAC for at least a year, but I've always said no. She does have MAC makeup for performing, but I don't let her wear it other than on the ice. I got her Dreamy l/g a couple of weeks ago through BTM (after she asked why her big sis always gets my empties and I didn't have a particularly good reason) and she's made a dent in that already. I have KaDT for Valentine's day for her, so she's on her way.

All she's allowed to wear at this point is lipgloss, but I know another addict in the making when I see one!

ETA: I'm NC20/25 and I want to use Flatter Me as blush.

I have the same colouring and I can wear Flatter Me as a blush or as a highlight. I`m wearing it today as a blush with Razzledazzler lipstick; it`s far more flattering on me than Betty Bright but evokes the same sort of look.

I didn`t get Cream Soda; I have lots of peachy coral blushes and I thought it would be easier to dupe than the pearlmatte.

Thank you! I believe they will do a restock as always but in the meantime, I'm searching my stash for a dupe or "dupe concoction" for it. I finally tried Strong Woman for the first time and fell in love only to remember that I failed to get a BU (I only BU'd Firm Form, doh!). After some playing around, I created a suitable close enough SW dupe with some of my beauty supply/drugstore cheapo lippies (Fashion Fair Dark Plum liner, Black Radiance Plum Orchid l/s all over, LA Colors Pink Parfait l/s in center- smoosh to blend and dab LA Colors Goddess to intensify the purple-ness ). I made it matte with a light flick/dusting of HD powder (from 2-3" away).

I spoke to my store this morning and they are getting a restock this week. They are also having an event this weekend so hopefully all stores with late events will get restocked.

BTW, I love the swatches! I'm wondering how BB will look on me now, because I thought it'd be like orange. But it looks like peachy/coral pink color. I like it!

I'm NC 45/50 in MAC, Revlon Caramel, L'Oreal C6, if that helps. I was matched as NC50 8 thousand yrs ago when I first tried MAC (late 90's) but I use NC 45 concealer and NC50 for my darker areas or if I'm doing an allover face thing. I like cream foundation so I use Studio Finish concealer in NC50 (same as full coverage foundation) as foundation w/ NC45 PLW concealer under eyes and around my nose. BB was scary until a blended the edges with the NYX liner.

In the pics, I used NYX HD concealer in Nutmeg under my eyes and on spots (set with Ruby Kisses Banana HD powder) then blended out with Revlon Colorstay whipped foundation in Caramel, using the ELF Stipple brush. HTH

Thank you! I love RR too! I put it on and was all "OMG" about it and since I neglected to BU any of the lippies, I was a bit upset with myself. I think MAC should restock when I get paid and I'll get another one. Otherwise, I'll keep loving on my other fave matte red of the moment...Rimmel /Kate Moss "Kiss of Life" which is A....Mazing!

I use MM foundation, though I'm considering switching over to the new mineralize foundation when it comes out if I love it. But based on the shade matching chart MAC came out with, if you're a 7.5 in MM, you're likely NC50 or NC55. (ETA: Based on your avatar pic, I'm guessing you're closer to NC50) At least it gives you a starting point. HTH

I am so mad at you, cocofiere, for looking so good in Betty Bright. It is so pasty looking on me. It looked slightly with NYX Toast and then Expresso lip liners for definition. However if I fill my lips in with the liner the lipstick looses its brightness and is pretty boring. Just a basic pale pink. I was hoping for more coral, but it doesn't show up on my lips. Also, it immediately makes my lips patchy and scaly. I think I will give it one more try tonight and then I'm done with it. I don't like makeup that takes "work" to wear.

I dabbed my EOS lip balm on my lips (couldn't find my P+P lip), swiped on the BB and then went over the edges with the lip liner and smudged the edges together with my pinky finger. Trust me, at first I almost looked a little crack-ish. I refrained from added any gloss so the swatches would be more true to color for the pics. HTH

Thanks! I used flash in my pics because without flash I couldn't get PP to show up right in the pics. I applied it with my Real Techniques blush brush, lightly in layers. It looks a tinge more plum IRL. I swatched FM in-store and remembered I got a Macy's gift card for Christmas so I used it for that. It looks so soft on my hand but I have yet to try it on my face. I think it will give a great glow all over.

My MAC store has one of the Betty one with the picture and the other ones with out.
