Haha the eyeliners got such bad reviews but they look beautiful! I'm not sure if any liner will last 12 hours...

I'm old and have a bit of droop from my upper eye area, so can't just do a simple wing. A pretty good mua at my local MAC tried to by stretching the skin and drawing the wing on, but i've known for a long time that doesn't work.

For me, i start the wing at the corner of my eye, skip a fold, continue it where the skin isn't wrinkled, skip the next fold, and finish it off. Then i go back and "connect the dots".

I can't do one of those dense, thick, tight wings, but i can get a nice line up, even if it doesn't look quite as lovely as it does on those 18-year old models. I can also work a winged look with smudged dark eye shadow. I do like those heavy painted on wings, but i gotta go with what i've got. And i can get it to work my own way and look nice on my 64-year old eyes
Can you take a pic or make a graphic of what you mean? I know that's a lot to ask, but I have a fold in my eyes too which make it difficult to do a wing the way I assume it's supposed to be done.

Oh yes, that would be wonderful. Pretty please lilinah?

I also struggle with the wing. When I stretch the skin to draw on the wing I usually end up with the two wings looking completely different. Then I try to get the two wings equal, which results in a wing twice the size than I intended

I gave up stretching immediately, Buick. That produced the most wonked out wing ever. I try to follow my lower lash line, but it seems to always come out uneven. I think my eyes are crooked LOL

I ended up getting Artifact off e-bay but I that now I am wishing Mac would just re-launch Idyllic paint-pot. (Already searched the local CCOs and found Half-Wild). Don't want to chance overpaying for stuff that may be dried up or almost dried up on ebay as well.

They need to sell the collection of course! It's one thing to use one product that's not in the collection, but to do an entire look using products not in the collection is a whole other story. So the claim to use a whole mixture of products to achieve the look. Remember the office hours promo image? That lip most certainly wasn't what they said it was!

I do not like it when they do such close up pics of the swatches

That drives me crazy! Swatches are great and I appreciate them but I really really appreciate bloggers who go a step further and apply it to the proper area(s) and zoom out OR a full face shot!!

It gives a muuuuch better perspective on how a product actually looks.

Kind of OT but related: It also bugs me when bloggers in general don't tell their skin tone in their "about me" sections lol. Would make things so much easier...

As for this collection....ugh I can't decide...I'll wait for more swatches

Do the matte paint pots make better bases than shimmery ones? The only paint pot I have is Bare Study and I find that it makes a decent base (over primer). I love the look of several of the new ones (Tailor Grey, Camel Coat and Stormy Pink) but I have no idea if they'd work well as a base or be better off used alone. If they'd make a crap base I might as well skip them because Bare Study creases on me like a mofo unless I have some powder e/s over it. TIA :flower:
The mattes make better bases if you're using a matte shadow on top. Other than that, mattes and shimmers work the same.
Hmm, I'm not sure these really deserve the grade she gave them.
Does anything ever!

The grades are so pointless, really. If anything, I think a scale of 1-10 gives me a better idea, but then I still probably wouldn't agree. :dunno:

I'm glad that these are permanent, because I sure do love a paint pot! I would be tempted to grab them all in one go if they weren't. Now I can take my time so now I'll take 2 days.

I was looking...ok, obsessing over the eyes in the promo pic & I see a very thin cranberry-ish liner on the top lid? I'm off to go look at a small very cool looking vintage motorcycle for myself :happydance:
My source was trying to decipher that one as well! I think it's just the photoshopping.

I know someone who's as white as can be who has a monolid, as she does a crease everyday, and it just doesn't work on her. It disappears when her eyes are open, it's creases like crazy on her, it just doesn't work. I dunno why she keeps doing it tho :dunno. I did a photoshoot yesterday and did the creative director's makeup and she asked for suggestions on how to do her makeup. Tho she doesn't have a monolid, her crease disappears when her eyes are open., and her eyes are closer set together, so i had to make recommendations on how to do her makeup based on her eye shape and placement. Not everyone can do a crease, even if they have one. So you just have to learn what works for you, and not just do the same look on everyone.
I'm as white as white can be myself (I pretty much fluoresce in the dark and have been known to get sunburnt at 51 degrees North in October!) - and/but my dad's family are jewish and from Eastern Europe, and I think there's some interesting genetic inheritance from that side of my family, and I believe that's where my eye shape comes from. I also think that part of my resistance to using a fake crease is because I was bullied at school for having non stereotypically European-shaped eyes.
