Wow, that's really close. I guess I can relax now about using my Purple Veil since Rich Purple is a suitable (albeit more expensive) substitute. Thanks for the swatches!@abjarrett, here's MAC's Rich Purple and Milani's Purple Veil. Rich Purple on the left.

I'm really shy, so it took forever for me to decide to make my first post. I've been super excited about this collection since I'm a rocker girl at heart, but still getting comfortable with rocking the super dark lips. These are some swatches I did today trying to compare PC with the rest of my purpleish stash. I'm somewhere slightly lighter than NC15 for reference.
From left to right: Revlon - Shameless, Rockstar A - Rebellious, Maybelline - Brazen Berry, Cover Girl - Divine, PC, Maybelline - Lavender Voltage, Rockstar A - Purple Haze, Heroine
If you're fair skinned, PC might not be as bright as you think it will be. Hope that helps!

Purple lips are just not for everyone, even redder purple like Instigator. They really need the right kind of hair and clothing to make them really work all the way, even if the actual color is flattering. No one should feel like they've got to snatch up these lippies just because everyone is crowing over them. If you're not going to wear it out of the house, what's the point of wasting good money? They'll be plenty of other awesome collections that will fit not only your complexion but your whole lifestyle! Totally not worth the stress unless you know you are in love and ready to work it hard. These lipsticks aren't even Team Purple. They are House of Purple, so be prepared.
I live for this gif. Just want you to know. I've wanted to teach myself how to do a death drop for AGES. Also ITA with you. I just got Heroine and honestly I'm good on the purples. I keep coming in here expecting to be wowed, but I know me. They'll be nice to have in theory, but I know I'll never really get much wear out of them outside of putting them on to clean up my kitchen.

I picked up Jet Boy. Very smooth and a pretty shimmer. I can see it bringing out the beauty in the lippies.

I compared PC with Arabian Night by Coloured Raine because they look very similar to me.me wearing the PC (excuse the lack of makeup)

I SO agree with this. I feel the same way about black lipstick. Just no. All good for those who love it, but I don't care if it becomes a mainstream colour; it's not going on my mouth. PC either. I think I can wear Instigator because it's red based. Those are the only purples I can wear. I'm waiting to see how it looks on Christine. She's somewhat close to my skintone and I've seen enough of her swatches to 'guess' pretty accurately how a lippie will look on me when I've seen it on her. If it's just a bit of a vampier Heroine, I'm in. If it looks uber dark (and aging), then I'll know to skip. I'm far from an old lady, but I also know that what looks good on me now isn't the same as what looked great on me at 20 (hello frosty lipsticks).
There are enough products that look good on me on their own that I feel no need to force others that really aren't me to somehow work.
Way to be the voice of reason!!!!

Thank you for this!! I think that more than anything else, this made me want to pull out my SW lippie. It's been hibernating for too long!!
Still tempted to get Instigator, but I feel it's more easily duped than PC... Thoughts, anyone??

Im also nc30 and I dont think PC will look good on me either. maybe in person it'll be another story. I dont know if I shud just get it and if it doesn't look right..i can always return it in store...right?

You can return it, but only to the same kind of place you bought it from. So if you order online, you can't return in store. You would have to mail it back. But if you buy it in the store, then you can return it there. Keep in mind that MAC stores have stricter return policies than MAC counters within department stores, generally speaking.
SW isn't permanent, sadly. It was part of the Strength collection last year...which, now that I think about it, I realize also came out on 12/26.
