Chanel Fall 2014 Makeup - Collection États Poétiques

@awickedshape      There is no microshimmer in Confident that I can see. Although I can not remember exactly how many passes I did with the lipstick I know that it was quite a lot. I do not recommend this for someone who has pigmented lips and wants a lot of color. This is a very sheer MLBB lipstick for me. BTW, I did try on Aura the other day when I went back and it is gorgeous and gives a good color payoff.
Thanks [@]Twill[/@]! I like the idea of just swiping it across the lips for a little sheer colour but the swatch from the blog review looks different. More shimmery.

Just a little reminder to keep us on topic... Dior discussion should really go on the Dior thread (although comparisons between Dior and Chanel products are more than welcome). I know that there are plenty of people who want to hear reactions and reviews of Dior products there. Just trying to keep things (moderately) organised! Thanks for your cooperation.

And here are Temptalia's reviews of the glosses:

And the eye shadows:

It's interesting, because I get the sense that she's genuinely conflicted. I know that she loves bright, bold colours, so I get the feeling she really wanted to like this collection, but, as suspected, the colour payoff just doesn't seem to be there on the shadows (or the blush).

At this point, none of the shadows are really tempting me, because I feel like I have shades that are close enough and have better quality. VERY disappointed to read that they don't actually work that well damp. Since they're advertised as working either way, it's embarrassing if they harden when exposed to a moist brush.
Woah...her eyeshadow looks horrible. I did not have the same experience with these shadows at all. Maybe she needs to use a different primer.

I believe she uses the Nars Smudgeproof primer and that stuff is amazing. Either the shadows are lacking or she got a bad batch. It could also be her application skills. That's not a takedown of her either, just a personal opinion. I'm one of the few around here who sort of defends her even when her reviews bug me. It's a great resource. I just don't put much stock in the makeup application skills of any bloggers. I go to youtube for that.

After seeing swatches I'm definitely just getting Atmosphere. I don't know, this collection doesn't do it for me. I like the idea of it but I don't think the colors really fit if that makes sense lol it doesn't seem sultry enough for Fall

Girls, this collection sounds like a epithaph to the defuncted chanel make up line ... I'll wait and see in person , so far it seems that since PP has gone, quality has gone away from the brand following him. P phillips is a genious, no doubt, but the brand is not is own creation, it has a long history on his own and I think it will go on in the next future
I agree but Chanel makeup has to find an Artistic Director. Peter Philips created the Rouge Coco, the IDOs, Les Beiges and so much more, without a talented Artistic Director Chanel will not be Chanel any more just like Dior perfumes are now dead so to say. The summer collection is clearly bad the only highlight is the np set and possibly some Illusions d'Ombres, the Fall one looks awful esp the eyeshadows. No Rouge Coco either well, what is the matter with Chanel makeup ? I will pick up some items but I wish they would find their Artistic direction which is not the case obviously .

I just looked over this collection and I'm not interested in a single piece. Seems pretty dull. I haven't been interested in Chanel in months and that's shocking because I used to throw my money at them. Can't remember the last thing I bought. Was it late last year? :hmm: ETA: I remember my last purchase: The PLV. Now that was an awesome buy.

I hope you don't think I was attacking her. I think she probably thought her shadow look bad also since she gave them poor grades. I agree that Temptalia is an incredible resource! I'll have to give the shadows I have a go with the Nars primer and see if there is any difference in blending. I will say that I'm one of those rare people who does not care for the primer. It is crease city on my hooded lids. :(

every eyeshadow look she does looks like that like it has barely any color
either that primer does not work for her, or she is using wrong brushes or she should work on her application

Oh, no. I didn't think you was attacking her. Hey, it'd be your right to do anyway. I was just going on my own little tangent like I tend to do.

Pretty much. Especially over the past year or so. She has used that primer for some time now and when she first started with it, colors seemed more vibrant. I remember some really good Mac looks she did with the primer that I copied. I think a lot of it is in her application. Just a guess. That Nars primer is seriously the best one I've tried between that, Too Faced and UD.

I am waiting for another blogger to review Innocence before I completely write it off. I appreciate T's blog, but I do not always agree with her reviews.
Same here. I actually think it looks quite lovely. T thinks almost everything is dry etc. blah blah blah

I totally agree with all of this. Temptalia has horrible application skills for someone who is such a prolific and frequent beauty blogger. I take her reviews with a huge grain of salt. On her lids, the colors of the eyeshadows are all bare and patchy, but her swatches are super pigmented and vibrant. Her brushes, primer, technique, or some combination thereof are lacking and I think it's driving her scores down.

I wish I had snapped this in natural light. I'd probably look like a rodeo clown. The blush was not dry, hard to pick up on my brush or difficult to blend. BTW, this is Tom Ford's Vampire Kiss lipstick.

Mine arrived today but I was already wearing makeup, however I played w/it tonight and I'm a happy camper.  I used a MAC 131 brush because I had used my Chanel blush brush earlier.  Suffice it to say, I had no problems whatsoever.  In fact, I'm pretty certain that if I had taken that photo in natural daylight I'd look like a clown.  It's very pretty, it was easy to pick up product & I had no issues blending it.  But bu all means, judge for yourself.  It's very pretty Dominique, and fits well into my collection.   When I was new to this whole seen it took but a minute for me to realize how a pro is capable of using a product versus T, or me for that   matter.  It was at that time that I put less weight on blogger reviews and relied upon my own needs & wants, as well as some of you ladies of   Specktra whom I've come to know & trust.  Side eye to you missy who made me buy two foundations in two weeks or something redic!    Oh yes...that's one you made me buy...no regrets.  I'm wearing it here:         I wish I had snapped this in natural light.  I'd probably look like a rodeo clown.  The blush was not dry, hard to pick up on my brush or difficult  to blend.  BTW, this is Tom Ford's Vampire Kiss lipstick.
 You can never have too many foundations. It looks great on you. I think Temptalia puts too much emphasis on something being dry. Unless you're talking foundation or lipstick, does it really matter? Why does a powder shadow need to be creamy? Some really good shadows are on the dry side in my experience. Dryness doesn't exactly lead to a lack of pigmentation. Meh. These Chanel shadows could very well be mediocre, but it's interesting how many shadows across brands that she finds to be so dry.

Yes exactly. I never returned a product in fact, not a single one lol. I did make a few mistakes, but when I see a product on the Internet ( promo and official pictures ) I know what I need, I think I was born in Makeup Land ! :) Besides our blogs here have all affiliations ( like almost every blog on earth ) but here it really shows and it gets on my nerves. I love reading the bloggers, but I am not influenced by them at all, I am lurking a Bobbi Brown es palette ( coming soon, Surf & Sand ), and a lippie, well the swatches are useless to me, I know I will love the palette. The same with MAC, when I order online I never look at the swatches before, TF Vampire Kiss

well I know I need it ! lol
I am the same way. I always like what i buy and never return either. Im lucky i guess everything i buy looks good on me.

Me too KB...once I make the commitment -----once I purchase it, that's it. I've only returned one thing----well actually it was an exchange---I needed a different shade in foundation.
