All Things Sephora

Sephora is f-ing up. Nordstrom is my go-to these days, anyway. I also like Beauty.com during their sales. Sephora is for the brands I can't get at Nordstrom. Maybe I need to explore Ulta more. Those coupons never seem to apply to the things I want, though...

I just got naked smoky plus a free full size algenist mask for $1 thanks to my ulta points lol.
Ulta > Sephora

I just ordered 2 Bareminerals Color Compatable palettes (On sale for $19.50 each) and two Japonesque makeup brushes (buy one, get one free).. used $5 off $15 code for the Japonesque brushes.. added two $1 shapeners (I need them, plus it got me to $50 for free shipping) for $50 .. and I got the $52 Algenist mask free.. plus a bareminerals powder foundation freebie sample.. plus their other freebie samples.. And ulta sent me a 5x points for BareMinerals offer.. so I made 220 pts for that purchase (which is worth over $6 in point value)....

EDIT.. Japonesque brush, not Japonese..lol

Sooooo sephora canceled my order that included a dollar hair tie and the 250 perk lipstick bag because I violated the terms of use for flash shipping according to the CS rep!!!! They told me to refer to the terms of use to go see what it is that I was in violation of...really, I'm talking to a CS rep who is telling me to refer to the terms when they are speaking to me live and can't read it off to me or tell me what the heck it is that I did!!!!!!!!!????? Wth? In spite of my disgust, I went to look at the terms of use and saw that I violated NOTHING! Everything I did was in accordance with their flash shipping policy...after arguing with this damn nut about their flash policy and what it states in black and white, I was told that they would prefer if I ordered something more expensive than a hair tie to redeem my bag. PREFER??????? WTH?????? ...your policy states NO MINIMUM PURCHASE REQUIRED!!! I don't give two (curse words) about what they prefer, the policy states that I can do what I did!! They had NO RIGHT to cancel my order because they preferred for me to order more!!! I'm PTFO!
I think it's a joke that they told you that they would prefer if you spent more to redeem the bag when most likely, you spent $250 (excluding the few events where they offer more than one point per dollar) to get the 250 points to qualify for it. In my opinion, I would PREFER if they offered a bag that is a bit more expensive to make and higher quality for the $250 you had to spend to get it. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful that Sephora offers perks like this because they don't have to, it's a cute bag and I redeemed my points to get it as well but if they are concerned about how much you are spending on your order to redeem it, they should consider how much we had to spend to obtain it and really think about if they are offering their customers something of equal or fair value compared to what they get from us in exchange. Because I'm sure the amount they made from each purchase we made to obtain those $250 points is more than the costs it required to make the bag.

Ulta's reward system is better on a dollar value basis but their customer service is even worse than Sephora's. For over three years I have been trying to order things online and they won't take my card. It's a problem quite a few people have complained having and ULTA has done NOTHING. I can buy a gift card online with my card, but I can't pay with the gift card, because they still want you to add a regular card. But the regular card doesn't work, so you're back at square one! I also never get the emails from ULTA with the discount codes (granted I was only able to rectify a similar issue with Sephora last year) so I generally gravitate towards Sephora. That said, if, Lord knows!, if, Nordies started doing 20% off sales on beauty, I would be D.O.N.E. with Sephora!

They are just ridiculous. I can understand if they say something about reasonable use of the FLASH system, but they don't. It's not like you're sitting there playing 10 $1 orders to get the bag. And even if you did, you used your points to pay for the bag - points that you earn from spending thousands!!!!

Exactly!!! Any right thinking business person would tell you that if you offer unlimited shipping, it means unlimited. It's not our fault that their rewards system is so crap that we order a $1 hair tie just to get a decent point perk *smh* I have split up a $100 order on many occasions just so I could get 4 deluxe samples that you have to spend a minimum of $25 to get. Perhaps if for Rouge customers, you got proper free samples with every order, we wouldn't need to go to these lengths to try products. I don't have a brick and mortar Sephora near me that I can just go and get samples from and usually things are available online well before the stores - if your store even carries that particular brand anyways.

They could have at least thrown in a mini brush to make it worth the while or make it plastic packaging like Becca does with her minis. $22 for that quantity is obscene.

Thats RIDICULOUS. I would say I ran out of hair ties so I ordered one. You either 1) Paid for the flash shipping service or 2) ARE VIBR AND GAVE THEM $1000 OF YOUR COINS LAST YEAR so what the eff is their problem?

Sephora is so ridiculous at times. Again, it's my go-to because there's several locations close to me and it carries some brands I can't get elsewhere. Ordering from Ulta would be a hassle in the event that I need to make a return because it's a bit of a drive to get there. Sephora's reward system is garbage and the product/store tracker feature is garbage. I can go into my local Sephora and cash in on my points w/o making a purchase so why do you even need to order hair ties to get the bag anyway? Then, you cancel the order and hassle your customer? Who was having a bad day when they decided to pull a power trip? Where's the lemonade & chairs I proposed for when these folks lose their minds?

Are we to make the assumption that it's even in the store? They're good for that, too: telling you it's at the store when it's not at all. If it is there, I'd say there's a 50/50 shot someone wants to take on the task of getting it for you. Depends on their day and all, ya know?

I was thinking what Shontay said because it happened to me today. I want the Bite lipstick but its SO online but its listed as in stock in all of the local stores. I called the largest store near my job cause i figured they would have it. They said they dont have it even though it said so online. I called another store near my house and the person said they had it and offered to get one from the back and hold it for me to pick up later today. It just depends on the store and the people working.
