Tom Ford Beauty Discussion

Ok ladies, is this makeup overpriced or is it just super amazing? What products are especially awesome and worth the money? It's a hard sell for me because even NARS is a lot cheaper than TF. It's hard for me to imagine shelling out double and triple the money of most other brands to get TF products, but if they are totally incredible maybe I could get a few things.
I think it depends on your personal idea of quality for price. Anytime I check out a new brand, doesn't matter the price, I check out their blushes. If I think their blushes are good I'll slowly start looking at other things. Blushes are my favorite makeup item, so if I find a blush I love from a new brand I'm more likely to keep checking it out. If you love lips or eyeshadows, get a couple swatches from a counter and see if it's worth it. I agree with @makeupali though. You need a good SA that will let you explore on your own, otherwise they'll get you to buy things you may have not 100% loved. HTH!!

Getting on the TF bus. My 1st experience with Mr. Ford was his foundation. I had never found a foundation that had good coverage yet did not appear it was applied with a spatula. Being so fair, think of Snow White, not much out there. I had a layover at an airport that tuned into an overnight. So unlike my travel buddies, who went to the local bars, I hit the stores. Of course every counter I went to claimed to have the perfect foundation for me. Which was crap and I knew it.

I have a deep scar on my face from a car accident. As well as more surface type scars from the accident. Going through a windshield will have this effect. I had never heard of TF. I was given a sample of his foundation in Alabaster. As well as allow them to apply to my face. With the deep scar, foundation will pool in the pores of the actual scar, as well as the ridges of the scar. Of course the scar has to be bright pink. It has toned down from being red.

When I got back to the airport comments were made how great my face looked. I took it as drunk mouth comments from my peers. Then as I used the sample, I was kept being asked what had done? My face was radiant or so they said. Then a lady I meet had a beautiful shade of lipstick on. I asked what it was? It was TF Black Orchid. At 1st the price of 50.00 was a killer. But I sucked it up and wow what a difference.

I have found as with all things, there are some hits and misses. His blushes lovely but not a great range for my skin tone. His nail polish wears like steel. I am selective in my purchases with TF based on my funding is not limitless. Hope this helps as you decide to come into the rabbit hole with the rest of us.

OK. ladies. So they're similar but absolutely different. Got Sweet Mystery thinking it's Peter. Nope. Similar, but absolutely different. Peter has more gold to my eye whereas SM is more, I don't know, copper? See here. It's when you swatch them and put them on you can really see because to the eye, at least my eye, they're damn spot on. I'm actually disappointed some because I love Peter. Sorry I don't have a back-up and hope he repremieres- I prefer him to SM. In the swatch below, Peter is on the right and SM is above on left.

I just got Peter last week from Bloomingdale's...pretty sure it's still available if you want a bu.

I'm thinking, based on So Vain and Sweet Mystery looking similar in the bullet, but different on and swatched, they're all going to be like that. A little different. The hue in SM is different than Peter. We'll have to see from everyone's swatches as for the other shades.

Actually, per gram, his eyeshadow a are a good deal for all you get! Temptalia gives rundowns by grams and compares it to others! Maybe checking out her site and looking it up there will help?

Whoever said to me: Sorry you didn't like Mood Lighting, I can't find it but I wanted to say thank you and add the reason: for my pale skin, it was duping things that already didn't work for me but the texture and color is beautiful! So don't go by me! Also: Temptalia has the original review of Lios and boys and what permanent or LE colors they are identical or similar to.. It's a big help! :)

You know, the shopping is pretty great here, but I don't think we have a Tom Ford counter. I think the closest one is probably San Francisco, and I'm not driving two hours just to play with makeup. I'll order online...Nordstrom accepts returns from anything ordered online so...that's what I'll do.

I'm thinking of trying one of the lipsticks first.
