All Things Sephora

The especially funny thing to me in that link is the long comment from one poster who sums up the Sephora customer base as tweens, teens and young women getting their feet wet in makeup and are obsessed with glitter. How pretentious is that? I'm none of those things, yet what's wrong with being any of that? Man..so long to EB, you won't be missed.

I agree with you on all accounts.

You know what I think? I think Edward Bess is having a sissy fit, since his line is not doing that well at Sephora...so he is blaming the "sephora shoppers"...saying they are too young, and acting like the sephora store is not good enough for his "luxury" brand. Well, good luck to you, Mr. Bess. there is so much competition and so many fabulous brands, that unless you bring something new, fresh, exciting or miraculous to the table...you will have to share with the other, more well know, reputable companies.

seriously?

that said, the epitome of luxury is the whole Sephora concept, and it's owners .. (LVMH .. i.e. Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and a million other brands).

so if Bess wants to move his business elsewhere, it's his problem.

I think real life is so loaded with problems, E. Bess' are not going to ruffle any of my furry hair.

I've been waiting forever for Sephora to get the UD Naked Beauty Balm in dark, but I saw it in Macy's the other day. Completely underwhelmed. It looks like nothing. I could only feel some smoothness where I applied it. It really shouldn't be priced above $15. I love the whole idea of the Naked thing, but that's a little crazy. I bought Backstage Bambi by Kat Von D and it's a disaster. That color hates me. It's a chalky, dried out mess. It's going right back. Some colors just don't work in that formula, I guess or it just doesn't work for me.

Backstage Bambi looked horrific on me too. It dried my lips out more than the other colors. And something about that color made me look like a cheap hooker. I even tried mixing it with other lippies I own but it went back to Sephora.

Glad it wasn't just me. I even put a liner under it and couldn't get it even. No way I could step outside like that. LUV is still my favorite of the ones I got, strangely enough. Not a purple lip person, but that color is amazing on.

I like when I go to MAC and Sephora and say I'm browsing. Sometimes they'll come up to me and say have you seen this, and occasionally it is something I haven't seen or heard about.

I try not to judge a book by it's cover, but looking at him tells me a lot and it's not good. I find his letter pretentious and just another way to say that Sephora wasn't bringing him enough money. Now, he's perfectly entitled to pull his brand. I'm happy because then maybe there will be room for a brand that I find exciting (can they bring back thebalm?). Sephora's not my company, so I don't take it personally, but I have to laugh at the idea of luxury. What exactly does that entail? Sounds like hell to me. I guess I'm a special brand of customer who likes to go into a store, be left the hell alone, get what I want and leave. I don't like to be fawned over and/or watched. I don't have a million questions. I prefer Sephora over the department stores because I want to be detached. If he waned the customer to have a personalized/luxurious experience, was he not aware of how Sephora rolled somehow? Maybe I'm too "young" but I've never even heard of Edward Bess and I don't think my sephora carried him anyway.

I hate when they do that for something that's been out for months. I went to Sephora last month and the SA was like "Have you tried Color IQ? It's new!". I was like "I've already been matched".

I'm scared to buy LUV because it looks intimidating.  I hate when they do that for something that's been out for months. I went to Sephora last month and the SA was like "Have you tried Color IQ? It's new!". I was like "I've already been matched".
GET IT! It's perfect!

Ok so sephora is still 15% off through ebates. I have placed another 2 orders with the code "protect" for free Shiseido sunscreen. Omg it smells so good. I am thinking of getting the full size. Has anyone used it and know if it actually works well?

A few weeks ago I posted that my local Sephora started carrying Armani and I picked up the Luminous Silk foundation. I was reluctant to pay $62 but after reading glowing reviews, I decided to give it a try and if I wasn't completely in love with it, it was going back. After 2 weeks, I'm happy to report this is worth every penny! I've tried a lot of foundations and this is the first time I've looked in the mirror and thought 'Damn, my skin looks great'LOL It took a few tries to find the right color. I'm usually the 2-3 lightest foundation shade in any brand. With Armani, I started with #2 ( the lightest) which was too pale. Next was #3 which was slightly darker but more yellow. Finally, #4 was the winner. When I first tried it on my hand I thought it was too dark but it blended beautifully on my face. I walked around the house a few times with 3 on one side of my face and 4 on the other. I probably could have gotten away with either shade but 3 just felt too yellow and was more noticeable. I've always been told you should match your foundation to your neck but after experimenting with Armani, I'm not sure that always works. My neck is much paler than my face and if I had gone for an exact match I would look like a ghost. As long as there is no obvious line of demarcation between face and neck, I'm happy. Highly, highly recommend Luminous Silk. I need about one pump for coverage so it should last a while.
