LE/SE ones are also faked - or rather they pretend a set of fakes is LE (reference: the completely black short brushes). I dont think they have faked an authentic set of LE brushes so far.

This is a great post because I read all the buyer bewares on ebay about mac...it almost seems as if everything is fake, although I know its not. Anyways Before I bought all my full sized brushes from the mac store i browsed ebay, and the buy it now prices seemed too good to be true on the full sized brush sets. So I was just like ok I'll be safe and just know for sure Im getting the real deal.

i checked this seller listing out and there are definitely MAC fakes. if her 7-piece MAC brush set are fake, I think the 8-piece is also fake. I checked her feedback and she has good feedback but the items that she sold are fake. i saw a feedback about the 188 foundation brush. there is no such thing as the 188 foundation brush. its supposed to be 190 and the brush supposedly 188 is definitely a fake and i feel so sorry for the buyer who won this brush not knowing its a fake.

i wouldn't dare buy brushes on ebay. you can try to find people here that will sell their brushes that they don't want anymore or just purchase the real deal from a MAC store or counter.

I've had great luck buying both sets of the Novel Twist SE brushes but now that I am in the market for full sizes I guess I have to stick with the MAC counter

There are some four coloured givenchy kabukis on sale one bay for about $10.

The price alone leads me to believe its total bullshit and the items are fake.
I emailed one of the sellers to ask about authenticity and they didn't answer my question, just said that they were cheap because everything is more expensive in australia.

I'm thinking of buying one just so i can find out and tell other people the verdict- what do you think?

The 1st one is definately a fake -- Both pictures are so blurry -- Someone else may see something different

Not a very good picture of the 2nd one and I don't have a 224se to compare.

I liked this statement from the 1st auction:
Quote:
This brush designed for power, concealer or emollient-based product application.

LOL!!

Thanks.

These brushes are soo expensive here in Portugal (just to give you guys an idea, my 219 pencil brush cost me 32 euros, 46 USD, now imagine the face brushes) that its tempting to try online.

Can anyone tell me if this is fake? 266 - the bristles look a bit long to me compared to pics and videos I've seen - and the handle is a bit glittery:

^ The bristles are definitely much longer than in my 266. Also, the picture is a bit blurry but I think the letter M on MAC is off and the whole text is positioned different than in my authentic brush. So, yeah, I think it's probably fake.

Yes. I made the mistake of ordering one of the sets and a 187. I did however get a refund from the seller when I complained that they were fake.

I knew it was a risk, but thought from feedback that even if they were fake that they might be well made. Well the lipbrush was not bad, but several of the other brushes were so floppy at the end that you would not be able to use them to apply make up with any kind of control. They also smelt of solvent.

It's my first time posting as I too wondered the same thing about this seller. Their pictures make their brushes look genuine although they're all repeat photos and not photos of the actual brush being sold. So I emailed them and asked about a brush, asking if they could guarantee me that the brush was 100% genuine. Their first reply was:

Dear customer:
I understood there are many people selling much different makeup brush on eBay. For my experience I just want to tell you the way you can tell the MAC BRUSH on eBay by picture.
1. The genuine MAC brushes which is made in USA. (THE USA LABLE IS AT THE BACK NOT AS THE SAME AS WHERE MAC LABLE PRINTED).
2. The MAC #316 brush thimble is round but you have to put both together then you will see the different.
3. Every MAC BRUSH comes with the plastic bag which got computer BAR CODE on it.
4. MAC professional brushes are hand-sculpted and assembled using the finest quality materials. They feature birch, linden and ramin wood handles, nickel-plated
If you really want to know more details about how to tell the Mac brush please leave your email and I will sent the compare picture for you. Thanks!
Warm regards!

ps: the ebayer who give some advise from eBay Guides - MAC BRUSHES - Guide to Fake vs. Authentic MAC brushes. i really agree most of his point of view. but i am not really agree the third point. you can go to mac shop and have a look--the lettering is printed on the handle and easily rubes off with your nail.(they are not easily) there are some MAC brush you can rube off is 182 183 etc. i really agree mac doesnt offer so many full size brush but all of these brush was combinated by myself because i think they are quite popular.actually you can choose what you want and i will try my best do it for you. thanks!

They quoted the #316 brush which I wasn't asking about and didn't answer my question about authenticity. I then repeated my question about whether it was 100% genuine or not, and they replied:

Quote:
i got these brush from the makeup cosmetic wholesale company in here. i think it should be authentic and i am the only one who sell diffrent mac brush on ebay at the moment.if you are really worry about that. you'd better go and buy from the MAC shop and then you can compare it. thanks!
warm regards!

Well, I didn't buy it in the end as they couldn't guarantee it, their pictures don't show the "plastic bag" with the bar code which their first email indicated they had, and they say they gets their brushes from a wholesaler, which I think I've read here on Specktra that one can't get them wholesale?

Toolhaus.org show them to have 3 feedbacks claiming the brushes to be fake, and to one the seller responded Quote:
Doesnt know brush in DIFFRENT COUNTRY IS DIFFRENT DESIGN.

Well, are brushes from different countries in different designs?

Having said all that, I don't want to knock the seller if their brushes are genuine and would happily retract my comments if they are genuine.

If anyone has any further info, I'd be pleased to know too as if the brushes are genuine, then I might buy some.

Plus MAC NEVER sells wholesale, nor at a bulk discount or through non-MAC channels. What the seller wrote verifies that the brushes are fake.
