Before Buying Brushes On Ebay Or Asking About Them Read This!!!

Thanks! I saw some "way too good to be true" deals on MAC brushes on eBay a while ago, and was excited but then became wary of them and thought they might be fake. I think I'll stick to only buying in store because I have no eBay experience and probably wouldn't have a good eye for fakes.

What about brushes that are from FRANCE. all of my MAC brushes say JAPAN except for the SE ones that say CHINA

Does anyone know if they are even made in FRANCE? I just got 2 from a MUA swap and they look fishy. next time i am going to just stick with direct from MAC purchases like i had before.

Hey.. Sorry to tell you its a fake. A LOT of the fake brush sets come with that brush holder and I don't believe MAC has made that kind of brush holder for the brush sets. Also, those brush sets have been hanging around for a while on eBay but people still buy it. Not too sure if they just want brush sets or they really think only authentic MAC exists on eBay.

I usually buy all my brushes from Mac and I decided to purchase one from a seller on ebay name milliemarble, I contacted them today and let them know that the brush I purchase is fake and not real. I compared it to my real brushes, 1. MAC and 227 stamp on the handle. 2. I can indent the handle and it feels like regular cheap wood and it smells. The real Mac, my nails bend and not indention at all. The seller is glad to refund me, but I know they are fake.

I bought a 266 brush the other day off ebay. It came in a sleave and looked good. I already had a 255 at home. I compared the plastic sleave and it is diffrent the bar code is diffrent. I bought the one I originally got from MACYS counter not mac. so should the bar code on the sleave be diffrent? Also the handle differs a little. the shape on the end is a little longer and not exact. Also the word mac is closer to the silver part of the brush. I am charging my camera and will post a pic in a bit. let me know what you ladies think. so since they are hand made are they supposto be exact? help is appreciated!

I just purchased a 9 brush SE set off Ebay (before I found this site
ssad.gif
) and I suspect they are fakes.

The handles are matt black, however the writing has varying thickness and isn't crisp and clean. I can't find anywhere on there any mention of China, France etc.

Should these brushes have an origin on them? The blush brush appears to be shedding quite a bit and it's not exactly firm, it's a bit sparse and doesn't appear to have any bulk to it.

Any comments grealty appreciated. The seller is zhu88902 and they have good feedback but these seem fake to me because of the absence of any country of origin being printed on there.

Thanks in advance.

my friend bought some brushes on ebay and they appear to be genuine MAC compared to the one she bought at the MAC store, but one of them has "FRANCE" embossed at the end of the brush. this means it's fake, doesn't it? either way it's a great quality brush and she bought it a few years ago so nothing can be done if it IS fake. i'm just concerned cos i'm looking into buying some brushes for myself and am trying to protect myself but get good stuff below retail.

I doubt that the MAC store would sell counterfeit brushes. I do believe that some of the brushes are made in France. Just wondering how you know it's genuine MAC bought from eBay compared to the one bought from the MAC store?

Some of the brushes are made in France - other locations I know of are the USA and Japan.

Is your friend comparing like brushes (eg, a 224 with a 224) or different brushes?

or

Yes, this one is most likely AUTHENTIC ~ I know the pic isnt great but I bought a pigment off her and honestly I gave her a hard time over it mostly because of the pics - but there really wasnt any need to query it, not only was it was totally real when it arrived but she was very obliging in answering all my questions and she was quite patient and friendly as well.

I own five MAC brushes, all bought from a counter or a freestanding store. One of them has "France" embossed (316), one has "USA" (194), on the rest (242, 239, 217) there is "Japan", you can just about see it.
Also I've been using the 239 and 217 fro two days and the silver lettering that has the MAC logo and the number has rubbed of allmost complitely, that's prolly because the lettering was just printed on the handl and not carved also. Just goes to show that the quality and the appearance of the genuine MAC brushes can also vary.
