ok ladies here is another seller to stay away from...... I bought some MAC brushes from him and they are fake, fake, FAKE... they are stamped, albeit very faintly, made in "china" as far as I know.. MAC does not make brushes in China correct? I have emailed the seller and have told him/her that his brushes are obvious fakes. I will let you all know what happens

Yes - I think so. I distinctly remember reading somewhere that SE brushes are made in China and are machine manufactured unlike the full sized brushes.

ok, after doing some hardcore research I have come to the fact that Jewlz4ever on EBAY is the real deal. Her brushes are legit and she can be trusted.

With reference to the original post about sets of 8 brushes, this seller is selling such a set here MAC Brush 8pcs Set with Mac Case Brand New on eBay, also, Brushes Applicators, Make-Up Cosmetics, Health Beauty (end time 24-Mar-08 21:31:04 GMT) and they also have sets of 7 or 9 brushes. To me, the MAC silver engraving looks to be a bit too distant from the flat-looking ferrule too? Can anyone confirm these are fake too?

They also sell other brushes, Chanel, Nars and a few others and sets of Bobbi Brown brushes which look dodgy to me as they handles seem much whiter than genuine Bobbi Brown brushes, although the sets contain the brushes from the Bobbi Brown Deluxe sets.

I just bought a set of eight brushes and a brush cleaner. It's not the set that is all over ebay, it's just eight brushes that the seller was selling together. I got them and they look authentic. The seller has good feedback and was selling whole bunch of authentic mac products. I even got a little booklet with all the brush info. But I did get it for under $100, so is it too good to be true? Was nobody bidding because they knew something I didn't. Although, I'm 99% sure that they are real and eight for under $100 is a steal.

Here's the auction link: MAC COSMETICS SET OF BRUSHES!! - eBay (item 250222798504 end time Mar-08-08 21:39:40 PST)

Also I will post actual pictures once I get home.

Plus MAC NEVER sells wholesale, nor at a bulk discount or through non-MAC channels. What the seller wrote verifies that the brushes are fake.

I decided to do a few checks on some of these sellers who sell these Bobbi Brown brushes and sometimes MAC ones too. Those that I checked all seem to have English sounding usernames but non-English sounding names in their hotmail or yahoo email addresses which may sound oriental.

One just sends one word replies like "100% genuine" or even flatly refuses to reply to any email I send which is beginning to make me wonder if they even speak English. One insisted their brushes are 100% genuine coming straight from the factory via their seller, but that they are part of an allocated allowance of 2000 brushes as possible rejects of which 500 might actually be faulty. Yeah, right, 100% genuine but possibly faulty?! Of course, nothing in the description to say they're considered seconds.

I'm fairly convinced at least 2 of the Bobbi Brown sellers are the same person as the backgrounds to their photos are almost identical and both used to charge the same ridiculous postage of £3.50 for what would be a 50p stamp. Both have reduced their postage to either free or reasonable, probably as eBay are beginning to take note of sellers with outrageous postage ratings in the feedback.

I'm beginning to wonder if there aren't a gang of these foreigners working together on selling brushes?

These days on eBay UK, almost all of the brushes for MAC and Bobbi Brown seem to be the fakes, with some sellers selling both MAC and Bobbi Brown. LOTS of sets that neither Bobbi Brown nor MAC ever sold as sets. Quite a few of the sellers have Oriental email addresses or real names (as shown in the PayPal receipts) and write poor English in reply emails, not that there's anything wrong with having an Oriental name (there are some genuine nice ones here!

) but it does make one wonder if these sellers aren't somehow connected with the fakers from China and Thailand etc.

If you email the sellers asking about the brushes, they invariably come up with some story that the brushes are either wholesale, factory outlet or they have some deal going with the factory.

Trying to look for make up under "all" for Bobbi Brown as auctions rather than from shops is almost impossible as the entire area seems swamped with brushes....

I recently received brushes I purchased off Ebay.. And silly of me but I only thought to read this thread this week!

I have read that the largest MAC brush set made was 8.. Can anyone please confirm, if I have purchased an 11 set in a MAC roll, can I assume I have received fake brushes?

:Badkitty69 sorry but those are fakies, ( I learned the hard way about MAC brushes on ebay) Just by looking at the logo we can tell and I already buyed from this batch... (and for the kabuki brush the bristles are suppose to be on the other end of the logo, just go see on the mac website, its a good way to tell right away for the 182.

For the Bobby Brown brushes: these are fake to... no mistake they are to cheap for a buy it now, the bobby brown brushes worth even more then the MAC ones...

Candles: sorry but a 11 brush set in a brush roll will be fakes, Mac never did a 11 brush set on a roll, the 190 is a good way to spot the fakes right away, they are more yellowish then the real deal. And there is NO Mac brush with a kinda hard plastic protection, only thin plastic sleeves... just a hint for those who are still buying out there.

And as a quick reference I've been buying about 20 brushes from : antdaddy14 and they are all genuine, and she ship fast, they are not as cheap as some seller advertise them but those are the real deal, every single one I buyed from her.

Good luck on your brushes purchase and be carefull out there always buy from a seller with a paypal protection and pay with paypal ! (and be shure they are authentic before giving a positive feedback !)

Okay, so I am new to Specktra and the first time I read this thread was last Saturday. However, I had already purchased a set of 8 brushes off Ebay. Of course after reading this I was very skeptical of my purchase. So I read the auction again to see if I had an "out" if they were indeed fake brushes. And the seller stated that they receive their brushes from a reliable source, but does not actually know where they come from. So I am thinking, wow!

So I received them today and they were sooo fake. I already had a 190 brush and the one I received was very different. There was powder coming from the top bristles and the color variance was wayyy off! I studied all of the brushes that I already had, they were all different. They were shedding immediately and I knew they were fake.

So I contacted the seller to let her know that I am not upset, just unhappy with the brushes. I told her that i wanted to return them and get my money back. She apologized and they will be inthe mail today!

I will not put her on blast yet, I just want to see how this turns out. She seems okay about the return, but I have not left feedback yet...

i've found that real mac brushes don't bleed, but the fake ones do, since it's just dyed, whereas the mac ones (as far as i know) are real hair and don't need dying. could be wrong, but i think they are prob fake if they bleed.

I wouldn't trust on any those, specially the 2nd link.
If you wanna buy real brushes try this user:

eBay Store - ALL COSMETICS STORE: HEALTH AND BEAUTY, LIPGLOSS, LIPSTICK LINER

A friend bought from him and everything was authentic.
And I've read here Specktra people saying thats a good seller.

Well crap, I found this thread too late. Bought a nine set which including a smudger, the whole set is apparently only available in Japan. Oh why then is this AU seller selling so many of these sets for $80. Last time I checked, our exchange for the yen for not that great...

I received them today and the numbers on the brushes are consecutive from 160 to 169 with a little 's' next to them, no barcodes on the labels and in a leather brush roll. They did a pretty good job but the brushes seem oddly stiff and generally store quality.

I emailed her and politely said that the brushes were counterfeits. She told me she was sure they weren't but would refund me once I returned them. I offered to absorb the postage to return them if I received my refund first.

On the upside, I did get a very genuine MAC haul from another seller and am *extremely* pleased with it.
