lexi - OMG price hike again! My salary doesn't increase as much as the rate these makeup prices are going up. So are all the items more expensive or only certain items? How much does the quads, JCs, and lipsticks cost now? Your eye look is very pretty! I want Candeur for it's milky pink colour. Is it pastel and does it emphasize the fine lines on the lips? I have pigmented lips too. I could try it on my lips but I'm not keen on doing that with the testers.

The cutest thing that came with the bag -- it had a storage bag that came with it and it says "she put away her coral lipstick and floated back to the party . . . " cute

If Chanel keeps hiking up their prices, we are going to have to develop our own line

^^ The pink bag is very cute! It will brighten any outfits! The line on the storage bag is perfect for imagining or pretending we are at some glamorous party on a yacht. Yeah every year my counters get smack with a price hike!

jmarie - nope, he didn't use a primer at all - I'm constantly amazed by how well Chanel makes their eyeshadows, they always turn out so well!

MissQQ - erm, it's a 5% price hike over all their products. I usually buy from MBS so when I went there on 30 Dec, the MUA was telling me that they were increasing the price effective 1 Jan. Eg their Les Exclusifs went up like from $400 to $420 and their lipsticks went up by about a $1 each.. so yes, the price is for everything. Sigh. So on average, most products would go up by a $1-$5. Candeur turns out pastel on me - so yah maybe it's the look you're going for? I find it tends to settle a little on the cracks on my lips so I use a lipbalm and moisturize like crazy before putting it on hehehe,. Chanel is the only brand I dare to try on their testers because they provide disposable tester brushes unlike the lower-end brands where everyone uses it straight from the tube **EEK** (or at least from MBS/Ion - not sure about departmental counters). I don't see Bonbon at our counters though!! I think we're short of an item here!

That was so sweet of your husband to surprise you. I love this bag too. I looked at it this style in a store and fell in love with it. They had it in black and red. The beige one is gorgeous also. I love the quilted leather and chain straps.

Funny how everyone's talking about Kate Spade bags, I've been eying them forever and been debating getting one as a nice work bag...don't tempt me! *shakes fist*

Boo to Chanel price hikes (and price hikes in general)! Chanel's the only luxury makeup brand I'm really willing to veer into (though Tom Ford's been tempting me lately) and I agree, the price of the LE blushes lately has been ludicrous. $80 for the Brompton blush? $72 for the Lumiere Sculptee powder? $58 for the Horizon blush? Sheesh...I don't even want to think about how much the Route des Indes highlighter from Bombay Express is going to cost. Though you know I'll buy it anyway...I'm a sucker for anything gold.

I'm still waiting on word on my new job, since the two people I'd be working on are still on vacation, but since I have a friend/former corworker working there and I'm the one that has trained/mentored her I'm 99.9% certain I got the job. If so, a new work bag will be my reward. Are Kate Spade bags pretty durable? I'm no bag fiend, so what I get tends to get used pretty heavily. This bag will only be used for work though. Been thinking about this one. I don't mind paying a premium for quality (as you can tell by my ever-presence in the Chanel thread) but if something's going to fall apart within months, no deal.

Winthrop--phew, glad the price increase is only minor. Unlike Hakuhodo's recent price hike...but that's just opening a can of worms, LOL. Not going to stop me from purchasing, though it'll certainly force me to think more thoroughly on what brushes I get.

Queenofsnark -- I love the style in that link -- the leather looks very similar to the bag I got. It is so well constructed -- I think you would really like it. I've only had mine for about a week, but it just feels nice to carry around, if that makes sense??

Boo, so it turns out I didn't get the job.

I swear, this city has THE worst job market...

All I can do is keep on truckin' though, and stick with no-buy-unless-staples-and/or-super-LE. And live vicariously through everyone's purchases here! Hubby and I (and the furbabies) aren't in any dire straits, so the continued unemployment is an ever-present nuisance rather than a sign of dread.

^I had to Winthrop, the recruiting company that job was through was SO incompetent, it boggled my mind...if they were that disorganized BEFORE I started working for them I was worried about how they would be WHILE I was working for them. There's a LOT of sketchy companies out there. :/

Anywho, back on topic: I still have my pretties to keep me company! And of course all the lovely ladies here.
