Re: Chanel Discussion & Must Haves

Does anyone have any of the current Irreelle duos? I swatched Crystal/Dusk today and was totally wowed. I have a couple of the older ones (Orient Express and another one whose name I can't conjure up at the moment) - I found that I didn't use the duos all that often, but the colors are pretty. Macy's didn't have C/D, so I ordered it from Nordstrom - looks like quantities of these are getting more and more limited since they're being phased out.

Anyway, the Dusk color is a pretty brown color with cool, almost purple, tones on me - a great cool-toned neutral. And the Crystal is like a 'more' white version of Platine (if that makes any sense, since Platine is white) which is one of my favorites. I'm looking forward to receiving it!

I also picked up Amethyst and Liberty - these single shadows are quite pretty, but like Elegant, I have never really been all that interested in them until lately (maybe because my MAC itch is waning?

). I have a few of them that I've picked up over the years (Fizz, Nomade, Sillage, Cinnamon), and the more recent ones (Deep Taupe, Heather Rose, Lily, Taupe Grise). I'm using them a lot more now, and like Meg, I tend to get a 'couple' at a time.

I also tried the Paradoxal n/p - it is a fantastic color, but I resisted the urge to pick it up, as I just don't fiddle with my fingernails anymore....but who knows. I could cave at any minute!

You guys, it was like 101 degrees here today, no joke. Even at night it's in the 90s. I could not go out today, but tomorrow, I really truly intend to hit a Chanel counter. I've decided that all I want is Chalys. I'm really scared Pink Explosion won't show up on me.

Also, I need to get another Base Lumiere in the next couple of weeks. Can't be without that stuff. I can truly tell the difference when I don't use it.

That will be S$200+ I guess. I should try the samples first then. Too bad I didn't ask for them when I bought some items from the counter two weeks ago. I'll wait for my next purchase to ask and hopefully they still have the samples.

The n/p will probably be reds. I'm excited about the glosses!

I have two of the Irrelle Duo, Orient Express and River Light. RL is a green duo but they are quite sheer. Enjoy your new duo when it comes!

Who knows, maybe once you get your hands on Paradoxal, you will start doing up your fingernails.

I didn't apply any n/p on my fingernails during the years I took piano lessons. Now I only play leisurely and I can keep my nails just a little longer and paint them.

I have to say, I really love the single e/s. For some reason I like picking them up in pairs...like how I'd wear them together on my eyes (I often use only 2-3 colors in a total eye look). I find with these singles they blend so nicely I don't want to pair them with colors from another brand.
lol.gif

Me too! I almost always get single e/s in at least a pair! I gotta say, these singles really do blend well, but the MAC girl in me still likes the more unique shades, and the colour selection with these singles isn't the most exciting! I am still eyeing Apricot and Trace, which both look like great neutrals, but don't feel any immediate urge to get them.

I have one in Desert Rose #10. Very pretty and "non boring" neutral that Chanel does so well, but the colour payoff is not nearly as good as some of the quads I have. It works best over a slightly "sticky" base (I use MAC Shadestick in Beige-ing).

I totally agree on the unique factor! I don't think I'll ever stop being a MAC girl, but Chanel is certainly taking on a very respectable 2nd place.

This awesome post made my morning: The Beauty Look Book: Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour Collection

I can't believe I'm just now getting into Chanel NP, what was I waiting for?!? I love them, and I can't wait for more!

I can't find this at Chanel's website. Is it LE? River Light duo also has poor payoff. More interested to try the new duos as they seem to have better payoff.

The fall collection promo pic is so pretty! The more I look at it, the more I love the look.

I got it about 3 years ago - it was part of the main eyeshadow display at the time...... I think it was perm but perhaps it is discontinued now?

Holy moley! I had to come back over here for awhile to get away from the insanity of the MAC ITG thread - eek.
cry.gif

My luck I'll end up with not 1 but 4 Stereo Rose, so I'll keep 2 and sell 2 I suppose....or maybe karma won't permit me any
shrugs.gif
.....it's so crazy that people can't trust the orders they've placed. Everyone gets whipped into a frenzy, which isn't good.

I hope everyone has been able to get what they want - I just sometimes wish MAC would wake up - the only people who profit from the madness are the evil-bayers who prey on everyone's anxiety.

I don't know if it will look weird on me or not, but I really want the pale baby blue polish that's coming out.

That np photo is amazing.

Boy it's been awhile since I've been on Specktra. The Stereo Rose craze is blowing up over at MAC forum. In any case, I checked out the Chanel Fall 2010 Collection and omg...I don't know what to say. I went home with 2 Coco Rouge, 3 Glossimers, a blush, and a crying wallet. I have to say for a neutral/natural looking makeup lover, this is hands down one of the best collections released by Chanel. The colors are gorgeous..Chintz and Rose Dilemma is so pretty. Same with the glosses. Did anyone else pick up anything from the collection?

Did we!

Yes, speaking for myself.....I have the quad, Pink Explosion, Rose Temptation and Orchid Rose (perm), Taupe Grise, Rose Dentelle, and the 4 glossimers......

And I'm still awaiting the new duos that I'm told are going to be available at the end of July.........

Me too.....I was up at 5:30, doing some work, and happened to check (I had a calendar reminder)....didn't see it, so hopped on the ITG thread to see what was cooking.....kept refreshing the screen and I THINK I may have snagged one (SR) from MAC. I also ordered one from Nordstrom that I MIGHT get if they get their inventory straight (I had no issues with the Marine Life I ordered from them)....and my MUA is supposed to be holding 2 (though she may have only held one) so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.....but I'm not that bothered by it. Heck, I don't have enough cheeks
girlhaha.gif
that use blush that can possibly use all that I have.......

So I've reconsidered my wish list for the fall collection, and I've added Pink Teaser glossimer to the list. So far then, it'll be that, Rose Dentelle and Pink Explosion. Also considering Petite Peche, but wanted to ask anyone here that has it how they're liking it so far?

Also wanted to ask if anyone has the single e/s in Amethyst. I'm really in the mood for a good purple shadow, so I'm considering this with Silage instead of Trace (I'm out of the brown e/s phase as quickly as I entered it!)

I absolutely agree with you. I'm slowly replacing my makeup with Chanel and I love every single purchase. Pink Teaser is the darkest out of the 4 Glossimers but is very flattering with a neutral eye look. Petite Peche is the lighest with a hint of peach. I didn't pick this up because I felt it was too light but again personal preferences right.

Wooo! I don't feel so bad after all...LOL. I also picked up Orchid Rose and I love it. Thinking about going back for Pink Explosion. Why oh why the blushes have to be so darn expensive. Did you find glitter in Pink Explosion? It was definitely not fine shimmer like Orchid Rose.

It has a larger 'shimmer' factor, I agree, but it doesn't come off glittery on my skin....not sure why. I use a very light hand, and the angled MAC blush brush (the white-bristled one) and I get a nice rosy flush.....I haven't used Orchid Rose yet - am dying to - it's been an 'at home' (aka no makeup) week this week, but we're going to Cirque du Soleil (OVO) tomorrow night, so I'll be getting dolled up.......
