For some reason, the smell is really, really bothering me. I wore Camelia yesterday and today. Today, it gave me an awful headache and made me slightly nauseous. Normally I don't notice scents; the MAC lippie scents, for example, fade for me after a short while.

I hate to say it, but the smell reminds me of some icky perfume my grandmother wore when I was a child.

So, my Chanel lady said that her manager bought Gardenia but wishes she hadn't because she paid so much for shipping from NM, but she said it is almost identical to Camelia. I had another Chanel lady say the same thing - but Camelia is a tad more blue pink based.

Is this true?

). I own and really like both and would guess you might prefer Camelia. I'll see if I can get a good side by side pic tomorrow, but with the finish of these lipsticks I don't think pictures are that great. I'm also not sure why she paid so much for shipping...as you know NM very often has free shipping codes and once Gardenia was sold out online and I called a NM store they did a search for me and sent me mine with no shipping charge.

If you can, I would love to see them side by side. I was going to go ahead & get Camelia from NM site & the darn free ship code has expired for now. I was going to order Gardenia from a store, & yes she said she could order it from another store free ship - but you have to have a NM or AMEX cc - which I do not. I think that is so weird for NM to do that as they take all the cc on the site.

Well, I was not overly successful with the pictures. Honestly, on paper and on my arm they are more similar than they are on my lips. That may have something to do with my lip pigmentation and the fact that I tend to turn cooler pinks fuschia. On my lips Camelia looks like a cooler pink than Gardenia, and Gardenia looks more muted/softer. On paper the base color of Camelia mostly just looks a bit darker than that of Gardenia. The biggest difference on paper is that Gardenia has noticeably more visible gold shimmer in it. FWIW, Karla called Camelia a "shimmery mauvey rose" and Gardenia "rose-pink".

Thanks for that Winthrop. I was considering Camelia when I first looked at these, and while they're different on, I think I'll get Camelia and throw some gold gloss on it since I can't get my hands on Gardenia. I called the Bay here, and they definitely are not carrying it.

Wow they do look really similar. Thanks so much!!! I just loved how Gardenia looked on the girls lips in the link. But, my lips are so blue pigmented that I'm sure it will make the lip color darker/pinker

And you see she wore Ripe Peach with it. I would not reach for RP with Camelia, I'd reach for a pink blush.

From what I remember, Camelia swatched a bit sheerer than the other shades I picked up. Either way, I think I'll be picking this up tonight I'm my way home!

Apparently there is a Rouge Coco chart at Chanel counters that lists for each lipstick its color family (beige, rose, etc.) and recommended liners and glossimers. Someone on MUA got a peek at this and said for Mademoiselle (Rose family) the recommended liner was Pink Sugar (maybe that's why it looks less brown in the ad than irl?) and the glossimer was Seashell. For Camelia (Soft Pink family) the liner was also Pink Sugar and the glossimer was Wild Rose (which I love). For Muse (also Soft Pink family) Pailettes glossimer and Tawny liner. Someone else offered to get a copy of this chart. If I see it posted at some point I'll link to it here.

Thank you for the useful info! They should put it on the web because I really want to read all of the combinations. Yeah I think that must be why Mademoiselle looks pinkish in the ad.

Anyone tried the new Hydramax face & lip moisturizers??? Every store that I went to last week was sold out of the lip one. The Chanel lady said it makes your lips like silk & that everyone that tries it buys it.

how weird my hubby gave me that movie as a gift last weekend, I loved it! I made him watch it with me and he said it was a cute story.

I cannot wait for Chanel's summer collection!
