Re: Chanel Discussion & Must Haves

It's kind of funny because Mistral gets some negativity for the shimmer not showing enough, but MUA panned Flamingo as being all shimmer...I'm thinking mixing them together might make some people happy! lol

I guess it's a good thing I'm not into nails so much anymore - another habit I don't have to break
yes.gif
- I used to always get my nails done, and had a TON of polish - all of the major salon brands, as well as some department store brands (though never Chanel) - I ended up throwing them all away from lack of use - what a shame! One day I'll get back on board but I have to say I'm happy having one fewer shopping habit!

I do love reading about your likes and dislikes, though - and pink with shimmer would have been my utter weakness!

I'll live vicariously through you and my pedicurist!

I've been into nail polish wayyy too long for me to ever break this habit. I started painting my nails when I was 8!

I was about that age too - when I first started working after college I used to paint my nails every night, to go with whatever color outfit I would wear the next day - only a BIT OCD........and just as compulsively about 5 years ago I decided I didn't want to have artificial nails anymore, or the 'hassle' of driving a 1/2 hour each way to get them done (my manicurist moved and I was very loyal to her). I never looked back, but I have to say I do miss how pretty my nails used to look. I keep them relatively short now, and neat, but never had much luck with polish staying on my bare nails.....

So count me in on any other beauty product, and I'll sit on the sidelines for the nails!

Yeah, it is a bit of a pain to keep them up. Not as bad since I haven't been working...I have the time to do a mani/pedi every four days or so. But I have an interview tomorrow, so fingers crossed and prayers said...then I won't have to feel bad about splurging on Chanel polishes!

And I thought I was a Coco Mademoiselle girl!

I'm not a big fragrance fan like I'm a makeup fan but I'm kind of lost as to what I want now. I did finished a 100ml bottle of Chance Eau Fraiche which I love! The original Chance smells great on others but on me it is sour.

The bad news is that Chanel makeup has increased it's prices here. The n/p is now $3 more! The conversion rate is about S$1 to US$0.7. The SA said not all the products have price hike but the $3 increase for n/p is hefty!

The quad on display was Spices, instead of Demure. We don't have Demure and for the X'mas collection in 2008, we didn't get Beiges de Chanel but Spices. It looks like we are always promoting Spices.
ssad.gif
Anyone has it? I don't but maybe I should since it seems to go with so many collections.

I'm not a fragance girl either, Coco Madmoiselle it's the only one I wear!!

I fell in love with it when I first smelled it

...and ever since no other one has captured my attention!!
th_dunno.gif

So jealous you've already seen the collection!!

Maybe this week arrives here!! Wish me luck!!
winkiss.gif

Demure it's not part of the International Collection. Remember US collections are slightly different and always include items not available in the rest of the world!! You can check it, at the french site!!

Most my pinks are Chanel... I always tell myself I won't get another boring pink, but as soon as I hit the counter I cave again!!

Shypo -- are you loving Comedia? I really have been contemplating getting it -- it looks so pretty! It is so hard not being able to try it on in person. Why don't my department stores carry Chanel??
thmbdn.gif
Maybe I should get more into Dior, since we have one of those in our Macy's here. But there is just something about Chanel that I daydream about

Comedia is so pretty - really a rosy pink on me - with a subtle shimmer. It's great for a more natural look, or when I play up my eyes more (though I do tend to do a more 'balanced' look rather than play up one or the other between my lips/eyes).

Now I'm lemming more RAs - I have my eye on Surprise, though it may be too purple on me - will have to try it. There are a couple of others that are appealing too, though I'm at a loss to name them at the moment.

This morning I pulled out some oldies but goodies - Air and Camelia Irreelle Ombre shadows - man, I love these! I wish they still made them......

No kidding - the only suckier ones are Nordstom's swatches online....man, how do they expect anyone to buy these things?

I'm interested in a couple of other Rouge Cocos, but my Macy's has only about half of the ones released, and their counter's merchandising unit has them divided by pinks, AND plums, etc. The Chanel site has just beige, pink, red and brown. What's UP with that?

And I found out that only a few counters got the summer 2010 collection - even the major Macy's at the big mall near me did not get it - and they've got a huge counter! I'm glad my MUA at Nordstrom (who is MAC) does not mind helping me with other cosmetics in the department (she's FAB!) or else I'd be out of luck!

Does anyone have any other recs? I'm considering Rouge Orage - it's very pretty too.....but not a slam dunk for me (yet
sneaky.gif
).

Might have to check out more of the Aqualumiere sheer lip colors too - what a nice surprise they are!

Re: Chanel Discussion & Must Haves

Seriously! You'd think with the amount Chanel products cost, they'd have a kick-ass website. Same goes for Nordies. Clothing and shoes rock, but forget about the cosmetics side.

Silex: It is a mid-tone coral pink (salmony) with pink, coral and gold flecks.

If you like pinks with gold flecks maybe you could check later No.11 Scintillance it's absolutely gorgeuos kinda like Expensive Pink e/s or N.83 Magnifique which is a pelale pink (much like Rose Petale blush) with gold flecks. Scintilliance it's in the regular line in US I think, but sadly, I'm not sure Magnifique it's.

I don't own Courtisane as it wasn't released here...so I can't tell you about that.
th_dunno.gif

Hope I helped!!

Hi Hypathya - can you describe Scintillance to me? I can't really tell from the Chanel site, and Nordstrom doesn't have it listed. I'm not sure if it's a permanent color or not......I think it's interesting that Chanel classifies Mica as a 'beige' - it is so pink it's not funny!

I really wish I had gotten some of the older ones, like Pink Ribbons and some of the other pretty pink ones in the swatch thread.....ah well. Certainly there is no shortage of goodies to wish for!

Re: Chanel Discussion & Must Haves

I picked up Genial today. When I first saw it in the tube, my reaction was "crap that is neon!". It looked nothing like the swatches I've seen, but it does apply softer and sheers out really nicely. I also got the waterproof liner (black) and Mica glossimer, that was a serious impulse buy. I would've gotten Mistral n/p while I was at it, but already told DH that if he needs any ideas for mother's day, that would be something to consider. I think I need to get myself back on a no-buy now, and for a long time!
