I wonder if Chanel will do another free shipping when the fall collection comes out?

I think Audrey is close to her first glossimer......go ahead and get the glossimer instead of Marine Life - I'll hopefully have 3 ML by the time it's over with, if you still want one after you get your glossimer, I'll hang onto it for you

Okay so what are these new eyeshadows all about - the Deep Taupe and Heather Rose? Are they single eyeshadows? Exclusive to a certain store?

I would go to the counter, but I'm sure they wouldn't let me touch it!

I returned Genial today.
ssad.gif
My lips are just too rosy, they make so many lipsticks look overly red. Tried nuding them out with foundation/concealer, but it just made the finish look too dry and not quite right. I'm so sad! I also purchased the most gorgeous raspberry pink lippie from Laura Mercier and it turned fuchsia on my lips. Story of my life!

However, the upside of this story is that I picked up Bronze Universel after making the return. So I suppose all's well that ends well.

Re: Chanel Discussion & Must Haves

Ok so forgive me for being a total newbie... but does Chanel release a collection once a season? So only 4 or so collections per year? I know their nail polish sells out crazy fast, but is that the case with all of the items? I am just wondering how fast I need to move if there is something I want.
lol.gif

Oh, and another question - with the quads, why are some of the shadows square, and some a circle? I have seen pics of the Murano quad for example, where some are square and some are circle. Same with the blushes. Same name, different shape. I am so confused.

Yeah, Chanel is more traditional. 4 main collections per year, and then a couple of special ones, like the Shanghai one and the Christmas collection. No collection overkill like with MAC.

Here's a bit of Chanel photo randomness.......
Gabrielle Rouge Coco. It's my first really, bold red. I've been s lowely breaking into them with sheer reds (Laura Mercier "Crimson" Hydratint is mah favorite!). Bought this because I found a great deal on eBay for like $15!, right before the release. It is utterly awesome. I still want to get more RCs....... Maybe soon! (Should the budget oblige)

(It's the one in the middle)

It's a pretty neat color. A straight, bold red with red shimmer. The shimmer subtly changes the way the lipstick looks under various lighting. Maybe it has a cool, berry tone... perhaps it is bright warm red. It does not discriminate. Wears down to a bright, even cherry stain. Now if I could only find the right opportunity to wear it in public... (Without anyone I know pointing it out!)

could've been the crazy lighting in the store though.

I swatched Darling months ago, and recently again as it is part of the summer collection. It is not pink enough, and kind of disappears on my lips.

Yes, one collection per season, but there are small collections in between, like London Madness, Think Pink, Orient Extreme, or launches of new products like Rouge Coco, Rouge Allure Laques and the duos.
Some items sell out fast too, like LE highlighters, powders and glosses, especially the holiday collection! But that is in my country, not sure about the US.

I just come to know that all items from summer and holiday collections are usually LE while most items from spring and fall will be perm, such as lipsticks, quads, glosses and so on.

I believe quads with square shadows are made and to be sold in the US most of the time, except for certain quads that are released in summer which are sold worldwide, called Lumieres Facettes. The quads with circles are for elsewhere like Europe and Asia. That's why the US and elsewhere get different quads (square VS circle) with the same name.

Blushes in rectangles are the tweed duos and circles are Joues Contraste. Hope this helps to clarify a little!

But it is a perfect (for me) rose pink (with a touch of brown) MLBB--not too dark, not too light, not too flat--and a wonderful formula. I also owned Exquise (I RAOK'ed after a year of non-use), which I somehow didn't love. It isn't quite frosty, but too frosty for me, and the formula is not one of the more creamy RAs (although it's still nice).

Well ok then, gotta have that!

Audrey, how fun!! I did the very same thing not too long ago. When I got my first Chanel items I then spent the next hour or so chopping down my wish lists for all of the upcoming MAC collections.

I love all of my make-up, but I feel something different and special when I use/look at/play with the Chanel items. They're a splurge for sure, but totally rewarding for me. I hope you feel the same when you make your first purchase. I can't wait to hear what you pick out!

The only reason anyone would point it out is to say how beautiful you look! That's a perfect color on you!! Gorgeous!

Possibly, I hope so....but I wouldn't hold my breath. They are pretty stingy with the free shipping. With Neimans if you click on the code it tells you the details. With this one it says "Offer expires 6/1/10 at 11:59 PM CT". They have free shipping alot more often than Chanel.

They are new single shadows, not even online on all sites yet but I don't think they're exclusive to any store. We don't know which, if any, are LE yet. There are a few more shades, Vanilla is one.

I've also seen LE lipsticks sell out fast here, but we're not talking Marine Life fast or anything. You'll always have more than a few hours!

Another thing to know about the Joues Contraste blushes (round everywhere) is that the Euro ones are baked and have different ingredients than the US ones. The US JCs have mineral oil, while the Euros don't. I think I posted the fuill ingredient lists for both somewhere, probably earlier in this thread. Even more interesting is that the US and Euro JCs are sometimes slightly different shades -- for instance the Euro Narcisse is/was (it's DC'd here now but you could probably still find it) a noticeably cooler pink than the US one -- or sometimes have different levels of shimmer.

The Euro eyeshadow quads are round and baked and the US ones, as Miss QQ said, are for the most part square -- and not baked. I imagine they have different ingredients too but I haven't looked into that since I thankfully don't have sensitivity problems with e/s. And FWIW I don't have problems with either US or Euro JCs on my cheeks either even though I generally have problems with mineral oil and high levels of fragrance in face products! Go figure.

Some MUAers talk about some of the baked blushes and e/s quads being hard and difficult to get pigment from. I don't have *that* many Euro versions of either but have not had problems with the ones I do have.

kenoki, that lipstick is GORGEOUS on you! You should not hesitate to wear it anywhere!

Its hard to say how long they will keep it. Its been going on for quite awhile already.

Edit: Winthrop - I never thought to check there to see when the fs expires. Thanks

Do anyone know if Canada gets the US products or the international products? I thought I may have read somewhere that we get the international products, but I'm not sure.

Canada gets the same version that is sold in Europe. We have the baked (round) shadows in the quads. There are also several colours that are avaiable in the U.S. that we don't get here since we have the same range as Europe.
