I am pretty new to Chanel and the ladies on this board are so helpful! At first you will want everything!! Make a wishlist and then you can narrow it down. The glossimers are great and a good place to start!! Everyone else can chime in with their faves

I got the Rouge Allure in Genial, the last one they had!! I am SO in love with this color it's perfect for summer! And I find it very longwearing too which is a great bonus!!

But, my ultimate love is definitely the Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronze Universel Bronzing Makeup Base! I use it over top of my Chanel Mat Lumiere foundation in the color 40 Beige, and wow oh wow is it ever the prettiest and most perfect bronzer!! I'm totally in love, it blends so evenly and flawlessly!! Has anyone else tried this? What are your takes on it?

Any advice on some must have staples for a girl who's venturing in to the wonderful world of Chanel?? Thanks!!

Yep it's the one that comes in a thick cream like formula! And Genial... get it! get it! It's super fabulous! I think there might be 2 or 3 Chanel counters in my town, but yeah I know what you mean about not being able to buy online, although atleast this way I can actually go in and see the stuff for myself. I just have to make sure to keep posted on what comes out when so I don't miss out on anything!!

I'd love for every one else to let me know what their faves are and what the staples are!

Audrey, another really pretty glossimer is Paillettes - it doesn't get a lot of mention, but it is gorgeous - it's a peachy-pinky-neutral color with mult-color 'particles' (I don't want to say glitter as they're way to fine to be called that) and it just shimmers on the lips. My order of faves would be:
  1. Mica
  2. Constellation
  3. Paillettes
  4. Galactic (white with gold/multi-color particles)
Any of these would be a great place to start!

And if you're really into lippees, the next place would be any of the lipstick formulas: Rouge Coco is the latest (there are many color recommendations a few pages back) and Rouge Allure (nice creamy formula), and finally Aqualumiere (which will ultimately be discontinued), which are the sheer formulas. These are also gorgeous and there really isn't a bad one in the bunch. They're all named for 'exotic' places -

Re: Chanel Discussion & Must Haves

Alright Audrey, I've given this some thought, and think that you should go with Mica glossimer to start, and if you are thinking of a quad, the Bleu Celeste quad would be awesome. I tried it again today, only this time used the whitish shade alone with the grey/blue and darkest blue, and I'm pretty sure the white had a the slightest bit of a pink tint. Like others, I've also really cut back on MAC lately and I'm at a point now that I probably won't be getting much more from Chanel's permanent line and will wait for the LE collections.

Though Exquise is definitely on my list, maybe when I get the misty duo hopefully this month I'll pick it up!

^^ I have not seen Pailettes before. Thanks for sharing, I'll search for it.

On the lips it is not frosty. The micro glitters are multi coloured so they reflect and diffuse light differently to give a shimmery but not frosty finish. To me, Constellation is a cousin of Galactic. Their micro glitters are the same but Galactic is clear sheer white and Constellation is sheer pink brown.

Personally, Mica is not a must have for me but it is definitely pretty. I have Astral and love it!

You were really lucky!! Enjoy your new lippie!!

As I said many pages ago, the glosses, the stylo yeux watterproof pencils and the Joues Contraste Blushes are really great way to start your addiction!!

I believe you just have to spend $50 or something (easy to do at Chanel) and then I might get the one on one time that I deserve! This is the only counter in my city (I miss living in a bigger city where you can buy any brand you want), but if I travel then I might pick up things then instead of buying them in my city. I wish we could buy online from Chanel in Canada!

Maybe she's no longer happy at her job...

There are two Soleil Tan make up bases:

Soleil Tan Sheer Illuminating Fluid
: It's the one released with Les Impressions (spring 2010). As the name says it's a fluid and comes in a bottle. It's a shimmery golden fluid that can be worn alone or mixed with your moisturizer or foundation!!

Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Make up base:
It's a cream and comes in a pot. It's less shimmery than the fluid. It yields more coverage than the fluid. It's a wonderful makeup base to give your usual foundation the summery look. This means, if you use it, you won't have to switch foundation shade when summer comes.

Hope that clears things up!!

Re: Chanel Discussion & Must Haves

stv - I'm super interested in the bleu celestes quad now (imagine that, lol). My only hesitation is I don't usually wear blue on my eyes...not sure why really. Mental block/80's memories/maybe not the best for my green eyes? Anyway, when on does this quad really read in your face BLUE or is it more subtle?

What does everyone plan on picking up from the fall collection and duos?
Anything on your radar for future splurges?

For me:

Planned June/next haul stuff:
* Enigma Quad
* Misty Duo
* Whatever that lightest pink JC is
* 2 of the glossimers
heart.gif

Other "to be splurged on" goodies (when budget allows):
* Exquise
* Mica or Courtisane
* Mythic
* Arlequin, Maline or Constellation
* Kaska Beige Quad

^^ The three blues in Blue Celeste are a light shimmery blue, grey blue, and a deep dark smoky blue. The overall effect is elegant, not in your face blue. If you don't really wear blue e/s, this quad is actually a good way to start!

Thanks for sharing your wishlist. I love reading it! Definitely check out the new glosses of Rouge Allure, Extrait de gloss, due to release this fall too.

Cam, my June list is exactly the same as yours!

The only other thing I'm wanting is a pink RA but I'm torn between a few of them. Guess I'll have to make the 1.5 hour trek to my nearest counter next month when the new stuff comes out!

Quick question, ladies. I just watched a YouTube video in which a makeup artist showed some looks using the Rouge Cocos. But in one look, she used a color I had never heard of, "Sari Doré". Is that a non-U.S. shade? It was a lovely bright coral, such a shame I can't get my grubby hands on it.

Hi Winthrop - I just swatched Desirable yesterday at the local Macy's counter - it is a gorgeous medium toned cool pink that I definitely want. They were out of it, so on to my list it goes. I think I mentioned Imagination before - it's really pretty too, more on the light warm rose side.

I'm also on the hunt for Mythic, as no one seems to have it. I hope I can pull it off, however - in the tube it looks kind of scary to me - like I would look dead
winks.gif
.

Oh, and I was able to get a sample of Hydramax+Active Nutritive - finally! Seems the other samples I had were not the Nutritive
fool.gif
and I woke up this morning without a tight face
th_DANCE.gif
! So it looks like I'll be eventually getting this and maybe the UCL lip treatment.

Lots of things on the list -

Things are so much calmer on this thread - the TTB thread is such a frenzy over Marine Life - I was able to order mine from Nordies this morning, but yikes, what a phenomenon!

Hi Honey
winkiss.gif
-

It's weird because Sari Dore is also a Rouge Hydrabase
thmbup.gif
- it's been discontinued obviously but it may be available in some places - and there is a RC by the same name (#76). What's strange to me is that I can't find that one or Teheran in any of the 'usual' places....I did find a site that has one left:

Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour - #076 Sari Dore 3.5g/0.12oz

HTH -

My wishlist is so long! I really need to narrow it down.
-- From the Fall collection, I really am loving the looks of the Plum, Blue, and neutral brown duos, the light pink blush -- and I have to see swatches of the glossimers because they all look gorgeous!!
-- I also want Rose Petale and In Love Blush
-- Ming, Darling, Exquise, Mythic, Legende and Rose Comete lippies
-- Bikini Peach, Paillettes (I've heard so much about this one lately!), Magnifique, and Constallation glossimers
-- Mystic Eyes, Kaska Beige, Winter Nights, Variations, and Dunes quads

Obviously, won't be getting all of these at once, but a girl can dream, right??

Yes, there is a RC named Sari Dore, #76 as what Shypo said. My local counters all have Sari Dore, but we don't have Teheran. SD is orange coral.

I really like the looks of Adorable in this swatch, but no one ever talks about it so I'm thinking maybe it doesn't really look like this?

There is a pic of Mythic next to it too, which I think looks a bit lighter than irl.

Cam, the blue quad is actually really wearable. Like you, I don't normally wear blues at all but have already used this twice! The dark blue shade is a really deep shimmery blue, esp. if applied wet. I do however only use the blue shades on the outer corner, and feel that really prevents any flashbacks to the 80's!

Mythic doesn't look anything like that on me, so I'm thinking those swatches aren't the greatest? I'll try to swatch it next time I go by a counter.

So I've trimmed down my wish list since I went completely overboard the last few months.

Atm, I'm looking at...

Exquise RA
Misty Duo
Enigma quad
Jade Rose n/l

And the pastel blue n/l (was that from holiday?)

Oh and the serum, but that doesn't count!

I have the "pink" line as well. I liked it, but not as much as the "green" line

I have normal to dry skin. The green does purify/cleanse the pores. Sometimes it may make it just a little bit taught feeling, but that usually goes away - or use moisturizer right after. My skin stopped breaking out once I started using the "green" line - I swear that it keeps sebum level even & unclogs pores. jut mho though

Oh, & no no no
nonono.gif
do not over scrub your face. That isn't good for the skin.

I thought it was pretty terrible advice too. It is one thing to not give customer service, but to actually give bad advice is no good. Why does Chanel have to have such bad customer service? I didn't realize it was such a problem overall. I still really want to try to Purete toner. I definitely think you can mix and match products depending on your skin type and how your skin is feeling that day. And I do agree that overexfoliating is no good. The exfoliator in the pink tube (I believe you have the same one) is extremely gentle for an exfoliator, but still important not to overdo it.

Thank you for clearing that up! I do remember seeing a more matte bronzer in a pot when I was looking at the highlighting one. It didn't interest me as much because I don't wear foundation and was just looking for something to give me a "glow".

I definitely want the bright pink JC (I think Pink Explosion). I want both nail polishes, but will probably only get one...likely the purple one. I also want Enigma quad and Misty, but need to see them in person. I'm kind of interested in the beige eye pencil too. I really need to limit the items!

Other things on my list include Mica (or some other glossimer), Imprevu blush, Mythic RA, and many skincare items...purete toner, one of the serums (probably Hydramax), the eye roller/eye patch...I think there are many others I'm forgeting!

Glad to hear that something is working well for you! Sounds like the Nutritive is even better than the original since I now have a review from you and Elegant!

I totally forgot about Marine Life. I was somewhat interested in that, even though I haven't been interested in MAC lately. Is it supposed to be really beautiful?

I have Adorable & Desirable & they are realllly close in color. Adorable is just a slight bit warmer tone pink than Desirable which is more cool kinda on the light cherry side of pink.
