Yesterday' email from wc-racer:
Follow up: I took that information off of my guide (that I just added for the pigments only). I also noticed that the ingredient list is different on alot of those "fakes"!! Some don't have an ingredient list at all (but they used to always put that little paper with the information & ingredients on it, in the boxes and now they don't do it as much). I got to digging into this and found that I was wrong about those on Ebay (at least most of them, I was wrong about). I went through my old jars and boxes (empty ones that need to go back to MAC for free lipsticks). I also looked at most of my pigments. The limited edition boxes ARE different from the regular colors! That is strange but it's true (MAC said that almost all of their limited edition items are made in China, rather than Japan or France)! I found that some were older releases (with no ingredient list). When I get more time, I will look into this more but for now, I think that someone has gotten a ton of pigments that are older stock and/or limited edition colors, and have resold them to alot of sellers - so it looks like they are all fakes. One of the colors that looked off in the picture I saw on Ebay (Teal), was due to the flash. I experimented with pictures and flash and some colors look totally different in a picture (which I knew already but wanted to check on some of these pigments in question). The cornflower in a picture I saw on Ebay looked ALL blue but blue's are very hard to photograph, so that's one you would have to see in person. My cornflower picture is not too bad but I have recently started using a light box for most of my photo's, rather than flash - but when taking pictures of blues' the camera can not pick up some shades of blue (I learned this when working at a newpaper for many years - we use a certain shade of blue highlight marker, to write ON THE PAGES of the newspaper lay-ups, because the camera can't pick up that color of blue! Anyway, I must get ready to go now. I am very far behind but glad I looked into this further because alot of those pigments that I thought were fake on Ebay, are really not (the colors and texture are IDENTICAL, EVEN ON THE SKIN) because a friend of mine who had some of these, tested them and she has sold MAC (and uses it herself) for years! I hate to accuse someone of something if I do not know for sure and I made a mistake by adding that information to my guide.
Last email of wc-racer (before she go to vacation):
I wanted to email you real quick before I left on vacation. I did look at the site and the pictures, etc. I talked with MAC and another seller (not listed in the forum) and experimented with the pigments. I pulled out my old empty jars/boxes as I told you. I honestly believe that that are "different", are only because they are made in China now! The pigment solors of those I have personally seen (most but not all of them but - I did have some of the colors in the forum), ARE THE SAME COLOR AND TEXTURE as those I got from MAC - I got almost all of these from MAC! The only ones I didn't get from MAC, were the colors I use myself and because I rarely use makeup anymore (now that I'm in a w/c and don't get out much), I hate to pay full price for pigments that I use. It's pretty dumb to pay full price for those I sell, not not willing to spend the $$ on myself! LOL. I would rather spend my money in Las Vegas I guess!! Those comments about the colors not being the same when applied to the skin, are not accurate. I had to really be careful to apply the SAME amount, to make sure I judged them fairly. If you use more or less, then the colors will look different. I will look at some others when I get back and get settled, but since MAC is NOW having their limited edition items, made in China, THE JARS AND BOXES ARE NOT QUITE THE SAME (the actual pigments in the jars ARE the same). Even the 169 angled blush brush, is going to be called a fake soon because the new ones are made in China but the ones from the Raquel Welch collection, were NOT. The MAC manager had 2 of the EXACT SAME BRUSH IN HER HAND but only one of them was made in China (they had not been using China before). She said they also had alot of these brushes left over from that collection, so they mixed them in with the new collections (there have been 2 collections with this brush). So can you see the problem? Just watch, soon, they will be saying that some of these 169 brushes are fake, just because of this (it's the one with the 3 colored bristles). I did not ask if the pro pigments were also now being made in China (but the limited edition ones ARE). I also saw differences in the ingredient list (some don't have this on the box - just on the paper insert but they ARE REAL because I got them all at MAC too). It is getting too complicated to deal with MAC! Even honest sellers can now be accused of selling fakes, due to changes at MAC! Got to go. Sorry,
Bye
