ok got my digital back. As I mentioned, this piggy is Green, maybe it dreams of being Teal in another life
cutey.gif

just to show you, I took a full of Gold Stroke I bought a Mac in Soho ...placed the jars side-by-side .. now look at the caps, and the text on back. It does have the embossed batch code though .. which to most, would make it "real"

Listen girlfriend, I got a Teal in my house that's green that's never seen that freakin' warehouse

Mac Pro is sending me samples, I'll swatch and throw it right back at this seller, I'm determined to get my friend's money back ..

Lucie You're GREAT!!!

The seller put this thing on personal.. as I want to revenge a little discussion we had some days ago about an auction... BUT maybe she doesn't remember that I have already given her a POSITIVE FEEDBACK as soon as I know the piggies were at my friend's home!
nonono.gif

I hadn't the time to reply that she wrote me a 3rd email

By the way, I have every invoice from MAC but do not have time to dig through them (hundreds) or take a picture and send it to you. I am leaving on vacation and will be lucky to get packed and my Ebay items shipped before I go! I am really shocked that you would think, that I would sell fakes! I know you were upset over the email asking you to please not retract bids, but thought you finally understood it.

Obviously I'll reply that she has already got my positive feedback, so I'm completely in good faith telling this to her, 'cause I know she wrote some guides to identify mac fakes and she could be interested in reading some of the several posts about new fakes here on specktra, and maybe give her contribution to discover these new counterfeit.
I also say that if she ignores this BIG problem, that involves many recommended sellers, her reputation will be ruined..

In her previous email she also says that:Keep in mind that it only takes one person to start spreading false rumors. I would guess that someone (or a few young people) are just not that knowledgable so thought they were fake and started telling everyone they were. OR someone has had other disputes with these sellers so are telling lies! Also, some people just like to tell lies in a public forum (it makes them feel important) so if someone states that someone's MAC is fake, they will come back with THEIR FAKE STORY!

So I tell her that I don't think that many girls who always appreciate some recommended sellers and tell they're RECOMMENDED, one day decide to tell they sell fakes just for fun..

I also clarify that the problem is not only the boxes but the different colours and texture of these pigments..

As she says:
You need to show these to MAC before making accusations! All of this lies on the forums are causing alot of problems - and I am usually the one who verifies whether or not those items are fake! As I said in my last email, people DO lie just to try and sound important or something! As for these pigments, again, you might have gotten one or even both, from either before or after the boxes were changed but they are NOT fake, nor have I EVER, EVER been accused of this!"

we'll do it!

Answer by Angie:

"I just finished updating my guides, then saw this email from you. I have NOT kept up with all of the fakes on Ebay because I DO NOT HAVE TIME! I AM IN A NEW BUSINESS WITH THE STALLONE'S AND THAT IS MY PRIORITY - that and my Ebay sales that I can barely keep up with. One person can only do so much. I have spent hours on those guides to alert buyers, and EVERY DAY I RECEIVED TONS OF EMAILS FROM BUYERS WHO WANT ME TO LOOK AT AN AUCTION FOR THEM TO SEE IF IT'S FAKE and I usually do. Again, I only have so many hours in a day. Just because I have not kept up with all of the fakes (I would have to search Ebay every day), does NOT mean that I sell fakes and should NOT affect my reputation (at least I did take the time to write very lengthy guides and update them when I could which has been several times - not all updates are dated). IF my reputation on Specktra goes bad, it will be from false reporting! I AM ON SPECKTRA but just don't have time to keep up with the chatter. I have looked at it today and will check on it when possible, throughout the next few weeks, at least.
I also just got off the phone with my MAC manager, and updated the brush guide!"

She also repeat her piggie are real:

"I guarantee MY PIGMENTS ARE REAL because I bought them from MAC (it has been awhile since I have bought Teal and Cornflower or really any pigments, from MAC, because I stopped selling them for quite awhile due to the low selling prices, then finally put some in my store but have been so busy that it was just recently that I had time to take pictures of these colors and get them listed)! If I wasn't so far behind, I WOULD take a picture of the invoice, but I just don't have time to dig through hundreds of invoices. I HAVE seen the fake Teal and Cornflower (just had forgotten about it when I emailed you the last time) and the fake teal is a silvery color. The cornflower is not right either (can't see the purple in it) but it's obvious by looking at the jar through the box. Anyway, there is just no way that these are fakes."

I really hope they are.. so I'll wait until Red could have the original samples from Mac

Okay, for a start: what kind of business has all their paperwork in such a mess that it would take hours to find an invoice? Not a professional one thats for sure (businesses get in a habit of keeping documents in order for tax return purposes, not to mention in case anything should arise that requires info from these papers. Also how does she budget/make financial plans/predict profits with messy paperwork? You just cant let a business get like this!)

Also: She has the time to check these 'tons of emails about auctions' and look at said auctions, but she cant take the time to prove the authenticity of her pigments when some major internet MAC/makeup communities are 'spreading around that they are fake' (and thus putting info on the net that will stay there for a long time and harm both her business and reputation).

I dont believe that she would make the messages from people that are looking at her competition's auctions paramount, when people are 'sullying her name'.

Also you would not need specific invoices, just any one that she can find to validate that they are 'direct from MAC'.

If you are reading this wc_racer (?) i'd love to here your opinion on the photo comparisons of the jars/boxes and swatches posted on here (as well as the ones of yours that will be posted). You dont even have to open links

Not too sure about Teal.

The Teal is a fake for sure, the other may have some hope .. I need to do the swatch as soon as I get the samples. Diorissima mentioned something that I never paid close attention to, you can clearly see it in this foto. Look at where the box opens, the one on the left is different, look closely. All her fakes (I think there were 6), from 2 different sellers had tops like that (there's a notch, not sure how to explain it)

The real box has the notch on the bottom, so basically, the fake is an upsidedown original Mac box

Not sure if original boxes have ever opened like the fakes.

Yesterday' email from wc-racer:

Follow up: I took that information off of my guide (that I just added for the pigments only). I also noticed that the ingredient list is different on alot of those "fakes"!! Some don't have an ingredient list at all (but they used to always put that little paper with the information & ingredients on it, in the boxes and now they don't do it as much). I got to digging into this and found that I was wrong about those on Ebay (at least most of them, I was wrong about). I went through my old jars and boxes (empty ones that need to go back to MAC for free lipsticks). I also looked at most of my pigments. The limited edition boxes ARE different from the regular colors! That is strange but it's true (MAC said that almost all of their limited edition items are made in China, rather than Japan or France)! I found that some were older releases (with no ingredient list). When I get more time, I will look into this more but for now, I think that someone has gotten a ton of pigments that are older stock and/or limited edition colors, and have resold them to alot of sellers - so it looks like they are all fakes. One of the colors that looked off in the picture I saw on Ebay (Teal), was due to the flash. I experimented with pictures and flash and some colors look totally different in a picture (which I knew already but wanted to check on some of these pigments in question). The cornflower in a picture I saw on Ebay looked ALL blue but blue's are very hard to photograph, so that's one you would have to see in person. My cornflower picture is not too bad but I have recently started using a light box for most of my photo's, rather than flash - but when taking pictures of blues' the camera can not pick up some shades of blue (I learned this when working at a newpaper for many years - we use a certain shade of blue highlight marker, to write ON THE PAGES of the newspaper lay-ups, because the camera can't pick up that color of blue! Anyway, I must get ready to go now. I am very far behind but glad I looked into this further because alot of those pigments that I thought were fake on Ebay, are really not (the colors and texture are IDENTICAL, EVEN ON THE SKIN) because a friend of mine who had some of these, tested them and she has sold MAC (and uses it herself) for years! I hate to accuse someone of something if I do not know for sure and I made a mistake by adding that information to my guide.

Last email of wc-racer (before she go to vacation):

I wanted to email you real quick before I left on vacation. I did look at the site and the pictures, etc. I talked with MAC and another seller (not listed in the forum) and experimented with the pigments. I pulled out my old empty jars/boxes as I told you. I honestly believe that that are "different", are only because they are made in China now! The pigment solors of those I have personally seen (most but not all of them but - I did have some of the colors in the forum), ARE THE SAME COLOR AND TEXTURE as those I got from MAC - I got almost all of these from MAC! The only ones I didn't get from MAC, were the colors I use myself and because I rarely use makeup anymore (now that I'm in a w/c and don't get out much), I hate to pay full price for pigments that I use. It's pretty dumb to pay full price for those I sell, not not willing to spend the $$ on myself! LOL. I would rather spend my money in Las Vegas I guess!! Those comments about the colors not being the same when applied to the skin, are not accurate. I had to really be careful to apply the SAME amount, to make sure I judged them fairly. If you use more or less, then the colors will look different. I will look at some others when I get back and get settled, but since MAC is NOW having their limited edition items, made in China, THE JARS AND BOXES ARE NOT QUITE THE SAME (the actual pigments in the jars ARE the same). Even the 169 angled blush brush, is going to be called a fake soon because the new ones are made in China but the ones from the Raquel Welch collection, were NOT. The MAC manager had 2 of the EXACT SAME BRUSH IN HER HAND but only one of them was made in China (they had not been using China before). She said they also had alot of these brushes left over from that collection, so they mixed them in with the new collections (there have been 2 collections with this brush). So can you see the problem? Just watch, soon, they will be saying that some of these 169 brushes are fake, just because of this (it's the one with the 3 colored bristles). I did not ask if the pro pigments were also now being made in China (but the limited edition ones ARE). I also saw differences in the ingredient list (some don't have this on the box - just on the paper insert but they ARE REAL because I got them all at MAC too). It is getting too complicated to deal with MAC! Even honest sellers can now be accused of selling fakes, due to changes at MAC! Got to go. Sorry,
Bye

Mac pigments are not made in China, it’s preposterous to even suggest that! I will call Mac at their main number is Canada and verify this (800-387-6707)
That they manufacture in other parts of the world is no secret – I noticed some subtle differences in eyeshadows when I was at the Mac Pro in Rome. Idol Eyes and Vex were a little different. There may have been others, but those are the ones that stood out the most. But this may have other explanations, as its nearly impossible to control each batch color to get the exact match everytime.
Yes, that some Mac brushes are made in China is no secret! all the LEs that I came across so far – not sure about older LE brush sets. Most full size brushes are made either in the US, France, Japan. That they have begun making some full size brushes in China, well anything is possible.

One thing I noticed, and I could be wrong, is the description on the mac site on their brushes. On some brushes such as the 169 for eaxmaple look here – it doesn’t say the usual “hand assembled blah blah”
This leads me to believe that those may be made in China – I hope I’m wrong.

Diorissima, giving this seller the benefit of the doubt, taking into consideration that photos can’t be 100% accurate – ok .. I have your full size Teal, the color is wayyyyyyyyyyy off just by visual observation. The box has problems, the sticker on top of the box has been attached using cheap glue and it has even smeared on the box.
Ok, I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt – when I applied the Teal pigment (that is highly pigmented mind you) over base on my hand to swatch – I then wipe it off with tissue paper not rubbing hard .. and there was no trace left of the color on my hand. I don’t have to swatch to prove that it’s a fraud! I felt the consistency of the pigment between my fingers .. I can’t take a photo of this nuance, and it felt like a mineral eyeshadow, not a Mac pigment.
Anyhow, I hope to get the samples today or tomorrow so we can put this matter to rest.

I called the Mac North America hot line. They confirmed face products (eyeshadows, pigments, foundations) are made in North America (can be Canada or U.S.)
I don’t think this applies to all lipsticks, as Slimshines, for example are made in Italy.
She also mentioned that Mac has several manufacturing plants worldwide (well, we knew this ghh)
I asked her about the brushes, she mentioned some brushes are made in China, and she would have to call me back to let me know which ones. I asked her if she could confirm if any full size brushes are made in China (given we know LE are made in China). So I’m waiting to hear.
So much for this seller’s theory that pigments are made in China!

The lovely woman from Mac North America called back and confirmed (she checked with her superiors) that all full size brushes are either made in USA, France or Japan. No full size brush is made in China.
Also, Mac pigments are not made in China.

I have a question, does the number (not sure how it's called) that's on the sticker (bottom of pan) for example- B76 ALWAYS on the back of the box? (gray print) Because I have pigments ordered from MAC that have this, but the one I just got from e-bay doesn't.
I'll upload pics later.

Btw. I believe that fake pigments are packed (pan is full!) while MAC pigments have some empty space in the box (remember, they are sold by weight, not volume)

CORNFLOWER

This is a judgement call, may be authentic, not sure ... not sure anymore, the colors are close.
The Mac looks a little bluer. I don't know this color very well ...
the consistency looks different though

LOL! I wonder if she can find that receipt now? The teal is a dead giveaway! The Cornflower - not sure? It should have a red duochrome so it gives the pigment a violet type shimmer under light - MAC describes it as a "Blue Shimmer with Violet Pearl", I saw it in my own pigment, but in these pics I dont see it in either of them actually,
ssad.gif
The inconsistency in the texture of the pigment I do see though

I'm going to see Ylenia (Diorissima) in Florence in early April, and I'll let her make the call as she can comprare the Cornflower herself. The Teal is an obvious fake.

Ok, it's not quite over for Diorissima, her last 2 piggies came today, from a third ebay seller, Deep Blue Green and Tan. The DBG is an obvious fake, the Tan looks more like Melon. It has the same shiny top as the DBG.
I could easily compare the DBG has I just received mine from the Mac Pro Store.
Here are photos.
