214 $23.00

I spent $113

What I didn't get and why

No other lippies...

Was not impressed with any of them on....
The only other one I would have considered would have been

What A Do which was just a plain frosty nude nothing special reminded with of 1N just a tad darker with a tiny hint of pink (emphasis on tiny)

Chignon was a glaze...very little color took many coats then looked like Jampacked l/g

B-Babe - Just another pink frost

Lipglass
Quick Tease - Jampacked's twin

Eyeshadows

French Cuff - Mythology's twin..but Mythology is better and I have that
Flip - Bronzy Gold....Nothing special what so every - Goldmine is so much better
Deep Shade - Contrast renamed (really)
Femme Fi - Love it...But already have it

MSF
Petticoat's Twin yet silkier feeling..I put Petticoat on one cheek and Blonde MSF on the other...couldn't figure out which side I put what on that were just that similar on me and IMO

Brushes
165 if you have 109, 138, 116, 168, 169 (skip it) I have all those so it was skipped

Okay, so I couldn't wait till tomorrow and went back to pick up what I had decided on, all of which I mentioned in my earlier post from today. I agree with almost everything Tish said, except that on me (very pale with yellow undertones), Blonde MSF is actually alot nicer than Petticoat, more rosey. Also Petticoat was too metallic looking for me...of course that may have just been the one I got. Also, Chignon shows up quite well on me and Quick Tease, while looking just like Jampacked in the tube, is way lighter than Jampacked on me. I love Chignon and Blow Dry, but my favorite lipstick is Marquise D'. It's the perfect nude on me.

All the l/g's were beautiful colors. Red Devil and Strawberry Blonde are particularly beautiful for spring/summer. Quick Tease is as someone said, Jampacked's twin, but a lighter berry.

After swatching, I was more for Soft Wave rather than Live and Dye. If you want a light peachy gloss, go with l&D. If you are looking for a lipgloss with fuller color, go for Soft Wave.

The e/s: Flip=Ricepaper
French Cuff was pinky but didn't show up well enough for me to consider it
Henna-a yellowish gold (would skip over it if you already own Sumptous Olive)

I didn't try the other ones, although Top Knot LOOKS like Top Hat to me in the box.

Lipsticks: Blowdry was a peachy orange on me, would work really well with Soft Wave or L&D depending on what look you are going for

B-babe-Frosty pink, pretty color but will be passing on it

My counter told me they already had the 214 in stock
th_dunno.gif
. The 226 is a MUST-GET!! I'm picking up my favorites tomorrow (had my restless daughter with me today
smiles.gif
)

Ricepaper is not bronze gold on me however...unless I am thinking of another color...

It was closer to GoldMine on me

Yeah and everyone keep in mind the shade difference as well..I am NC45 so things will not look the same on me as someone who is NC15...Major shade difference

Re: MAC - Brunette Blonde Redhead Collection Discussion (Hair was WN)

Alright, I am back.

Let me begin by saying I was pretty unimpressed with this collection (don't throw stones at me please)

The highlight like i said all along were the brushes and the msfs.

The eyeshadows and lipsticks were crappy finishes imo (i am a satin, matte, amp cream, veluxe pearl kind of gal) and the lipglasses weren't all that unique imo.

Lipsticks: Enough glazes and lustres mac, i am sick of em! I loved all the colors in the tube, but on my hand they are just too sheer. Not the kind of payoff I want at all
ssad.gif

Marquise D‘ Creamy peach blah
Blow Dry
Sheer Pinky coral, blah
B-Babe
Another sheer pink
All’s Fair
Reminds me of a lighter version of fafis cute and sexy i believe it was (the purpley one)
Chignon
Sheer plum
What A Do!
Neutral beigey pink

Eyeshadows: The colors were def not unique, the payoff on all but 3 was sucky (i hate you lustres and frosts!) and i found them dupable.

Flip
I liked the color on this, but i got very little payoff. I agree with coachkitten in saying this is the gold i wanted henna to be. It was a light bronzey gold. Now if only it had a vp texture i would have picked this one up.
French Cuff
Very very similar to mythology with mythology being more intense and a tinge pinker. I prefer mythology over this one.
100 Strokes
Almost got this color as it is a lovely maroon/brown/plum color. Problem being fallout and finish of course.
Pincurl
Kind of reminded me of vellum in that it is a whitish grey.
Knight
A bit lighter and more silver than knight divine. Too similar for my tastes though so I didn't get this one.
Top Knot
UGH! So frustrated with blacks that have sparkles that only show up black when swatched. This one reminds me a lot of beauty marked and black tied in finish and texture.
Deep Shade
Dark inky blue. Crappy payoff and texture
Henna
Can you say sumptuous olive. Same exact color with henna having a tinge (and i mean a tinge) more gold to it
Femme-fi
- Same as it was in nsf. A pretty shimmery cream color with a tinge of beige. Good payoff too (which is why i got it with nsf
smiles.gif
)

Lipglasses:
I really didn't pay much attention to these since I found the colors to be blah and not unique. Sorry to the lg lovers. I feel like I have seen all the colors mac could possibly offer already.

MSFS: These are def stellar. I love that they aren't chunky, but are luminescent and iridescent.
Blonde is like petticoat without the chunky sparkle. Just a beautiful shimmering light pink
Brunette is a lovely bronze brown. The darkest of the three and gives a lovely sun kissed glow
Redhead kind of reminded me of medium msf natural but with more peach and an iridescence that is just so flattering. Note to self, I should have been born a natural redhead since thats the color I love most on me and that goes best with my complexion.

Brushes
165 Tapered cheek/highlight- I know this will be an awesome contouring brush, like a smaller version of the 138 imo
214 Short shader- Great for shading, I can see this getting really close to the waterline.
226 Small tapered blending- Crease brush woot!

All in all, i stuck to my original assessment that this collection is not all that impressive.

^^ I agree it is a Baby 138....I adore my 138 so passed on that...There were no giant highlights for me either...I must say however..I was the ONLY one shopping and I was there for an hour after they opened...went to Dillards after that,...ONLY one shopping again!! Not gonna be as big as I think everyone thought

Awwww....I think you should take another look at 100 Strokes. It's a Frost, the texture is not bad at all and I get no fallout from it. Now I will agree with you that Deep Shade does not have great payoff but as I am not a blue e/s person I think that's part of what I like about it! Just call me

Oh, you have no idea how happy I personally am to read that. I thought I was quite possibly the only one that did not like Petticoat on. It was definitely too metallic (like fish scales) on my skin

Did not look natural at all. So yeah, I got Blonde & Redhead MSF .
Thanks!

Just an observation...it seems like lighter tones (I'm NC25) are getting better color payoff and in general are liking this collection a bit more

Thoughts?

So how does everyone feel about Blow Dry? Is it more pinky or and orangy coral? (Can't handle orangy but love pinks!)

Re: MAC - Brunette Blonde Redhead Collection Discussion (Hair was WN)

Agent Samantha reporting!

Loved the colour of Blow Dry, but it was way too sheer for my lips. With my pigmented pinkish reddish lips, it just barely showed. No point. Marquise d' is a lovely nude with enough peach so that it doesn't make me look dead, as most nudes are prone to do. All the rest of the lipsticks bored me.

For the lipglasses... Red Devil is definitely pretty. I got it and enjoy it. Strawberry Blonde is dark pink (meh) and Soft Wave is prettier than I anticipated - it swatched a bit rosier than I expected. So, definitely not just bronze. I can see this being really pretty on a lot of people. Quick Tease is very close to Jampacked, slightly lighter, but if you have Jampacked, you seriously don't need both. Now, for Peroxide and Live and Dye: BORING AS HELL if you are a lipglass alone type. Over lipstick, however, these will be gorgeous. They have interesting shimmer that adds dimension, and I found bits of blue shimmer in Live and Dye interested me. Peroxide, which initially held no interest whatsoever for me, is definitely very cool toned, and I think it will be fabulous over bold lipsticks (such as reds). So, those two are great for layering. Alone, though, if you have pigmented lips they will look pretty much colourless and boring.

Knight is close enough to Knight Divine I don't need both. Henna is stupidly close to Sumptuous Olive. Deep Shade has TERRIBLE texture, and I also disliked the texture of 100 Strokes. If I want that shade, I can put sketch over a brown base, thanks, and I like the texture of my Sketch much better. Top Knot is GORGEOUS in the pot, but swatched like
yucky.gif
both with my finger and a q-tip. It'd be usable, but a pain in the ass; it's definitely related to Beauty Marked. I like velvets, too, but I prefer when they have a pretty colour for the base shade. Flip is much more golden on me than Evening Aura, and I had no issues with colour payoff. Femme-Fi is, of course, lovely. Pincurl is not white on me at all, but rather a pale grey with a bit of pink sheen. it's pretty.

The brushes are lovely (duh). I like how cute and little the 226 is!

The MSFs are beautiful. Redhead is incredibly gorgeous golden peachy love. Blonde is darker than you may expect, and definitely a blush on its own. Lacks the metallic sheen of petticoat and is more straight-up pink. They are absolutely different on me. Now, Brunette for the pale folks: this could work, but you had damn well better have a light hand. I found it less bronze than So Ceylon, and it's definitely very warm toned. Pretty, but not a must have for the pasty folk.

If I missed anything, clearly it can't be that important.

My first post is back on p.156...you are mentioned a couple of times in it, lol. I got blonde & redhead MSF, the 2 eye brushes, live & dye l/g, and then B2M'd for Blow Dry, Marquise D', Chignon and All's Fair.

Woot! I just got back from my MAC store! and i got....

Brunette msf
redhead msf
femme fi
Blow dry l/s

im going back to get another blowdry l/s, it is soooo pretty, its proabably my favorite thing that i got...well the redhead msf is also pretty sweet! perfect for highlight or blush. the brunette msf is a gorgeous bronze on my skin tone (NC30) and i got femme fi cause i missed in the nsf collection and it was really the only one that appealed to me
ssad.gif
As for the other stuff, im not a HUGE lipstick person so i didnt really look at the other lipsticks but i might look at Marquise D again. Lipglosses, well i have quite a few already so there was no need to get moreeeee.

but while i was there i was able to get an appointment to get my makeup done when the hello kitty collection launches and my MA said that she would hold the ENTIRE collection for me!!!! k its sad to say, but that TOTALLY made my day!

Re: MAC - Brunette Blonde Redhead Collection Discussion (Hair was WN)

Well, I finally got to see this collection and spend all those gift cards!
mac_haul.gif

I actually didn't get everything as planned, which was just as well, because I am really liking the 214 so I may just need to get that.

Here is my haul and mini review!

Flip - I personally thought the payoff on this was great, and I know it was compared to Evening Aura, but I found it to be a little more yellow gold, less peachy gold than EA from what I remember.

Henna - Yes it's pretty close to Sumptuous Olive, but... it appears a little golder/brighter to me, and that's enough to make me want it because SO looks a little too dark/dirty on my olive skin and above all, I love olive green eyeshadows!

Pin Curl - It reminded me of Seedy Pearl, but having less of a lavender hue and less frost to it. I think this one will make a very interesting pale lid colour.

French Cuff - I can't compare this to mythology because I don't have it, but on me it looks like a mid-tone rose/gold/coppery shade. I really liked this one, it's nice and bright.

Also got Blow Dry (kinda sheer, quite coral), B-Babe (pretty, light-to mid-tone frosty pink, love) and What a Do! (Pleasantly surprised by this, a neutral light tan-pink shade).

Peroxide - Close to many other pale pink lipglasses, but a touch more pigmented and with a nice warm sheen to it.

Live and Dye - As Erine had mentioned, Prrr mixed with Love Nectar. This was a no brainer for me.

And finally all three MSF's!!!
th_DANCE.gif
These were all gorgeous imo. Redhead was the standout for me though. I didn't even swatch Blonde, so can't compare to anything yet, but I swatched Brunette with So Ceylon, and the two are definitely different, with So Ceylon being more of a rosey bronze and Brunette MSF being more on the peachy-orange bronze side.

I passed on Knight, as mentioned by Adina this was very similar to Knight Divine and for now, I have passed on 100 Strokes (which was more on the brown side than burgundy irl). It is a very pretty colour that would look amazing with Flip, but it seemed a bit on the chalky side. I need to have another look at this.

As for the brushes, I got the 226 and plan on using my last gc for the 214, which for any of you that own the LM smudge brush, is quite different. It is wider, slightly longer and really firm. I think they're both really great brushes.

I am proud to say the only thing I paid for was the 226 and the rest was on gc's and I didn't have to use my empties, which I can save for something else now that I'm on a....

NO BUY!

Re: MAC - Brunette Blonde Redhead Collection Discussion (Hair was WN)

some pages ago in this thread, someone had discovered that Nordie wrote the MSF's were 1oz , that is 30 grams, 3 times more than the normal MSF. Was this true, or did Nordies get it all wrong? Are the BBR MSF's really three times bigger than usual? (i'm hoping, but I don't really think so..)

Re: MAC - Brunette Blonde Redhead Collection Discussion (Hair was WN)

Hi ladies, I just came back from MAC with my haul. I had a very stressful half a day at work so buying my BBR goodies at lunch time has helped me feel a lil bit better
thmbup.gif
I got:

Marquis D' l/s - it's a beautiful peachy nude colour on me. Perfect for everyday
All's Fair l/s - it's beautiful pink but not like any other pink I have. I was gonna get Blow Dry but it was way too warm for my skin tone. For some reason I cannot do corals that are more orange than pink
ssad.gif

Live and Dye l/g - OMG, this is the PERFECT l/g for me. It's pinky-peach and gorgeous over Marquis D' l/s. Weirdly enough, so far this is my favourite item of the collection
Strawberry Blonde l/g - perfect blend of pink and coral. This is def more pink though coz again it looked much nicer on me than Red Devil (the more coral l/g). I've learned that 'pink tone = good', 'orange tone = bad' for me!

I didn't like the Brunette l/s at all! I wanted to also get Soft l/g but my counter didn't have that in stock yet. I'll probably go back and cash my B2M's for it (that is if it looks good on me). Eyeshadows didn't excite me either. I think I have colours similar to all of them. The only MSF I really liked was Red Head but at this point I don't have the funds for it
thmbdn.gif
We'll see if it's still in stock next week....I may get it then.
