I'm really loving what I got so far from this collection!
mac_haul.gif

Marquise d' l/s - my new favorite l/s & is perfect w/ live & dye l/g
All's Fair l/s - such a pretty pink w/ slight hint of purple & sparkles (I love sparkles
drools.gif
)
Live & Dye l/g - thinking of b/up of this & Marquise d'
Red Head MSF - pure love!
waiting on Blonde MSF

Now I'm wondering about Strawberry Blonde l/g & Blow Dry l/s. I have Rich & Ripe do you think Strawberry Blonde is close enough, or different enough to buy? And I've been hearing that Blow Dry is really sheer, that's what I'm worried about & if it will turn orange on me.

BTW thank you everyone's descriptions & pictures. Always so helpful & hard to stay away.

Just posted this a couple pages back - Strawberry Blonde is beautiful & is not like R&R. SB is a lighter pink red & R&R is a darker berry pink

I have very pigmented lips & Blow Dry shows up very nicely on me. However, everyones skin tones can make it look a little different on them.

I didn't even know you could do that! How do you go about doing that?

Sorry off topic. I don’t post much but I did end up getting a huge amount from this collection after holding off the last few and saving my GC and empties. I ended up taking home:

All 3 MSFs – I ADORE Redhead with all my gold/corally looks and Blonde is so pretty with my purple looks, I haven’t really used Brunette much yet, but it’s also really pretty. I agree that the texture of these are awesome, gives you that soft glowly look but not that glitter mess of some or weird metallic sheen of others.

Live & Dye + Red Devil l/g – both really pretty, similar to glosses I already have, but not so much that they are the same, so I could justify needing them
winks.gif
I love L&D with both Blow Dry & Marquis D’ and Red Devil is awesome on Blow Dry and alone
winks.gif

Blow Dry & Marquis D’ l/s – Marquis D’is pretty much a shiny version of my lips when I pat them down with a teeny bit of powder (they are super pigmented) so it’s a nice neutral MLBB, and Blow Dry is a pretty light coral that I’m really liking with both Live & Dye and Red Devil, depending on how bright a coral I’m going for.

Femme Fi & Flip e/s – I’m a sucker for goldy shadows so I couldn’t resist
tong.gif
I'm loving a look with these two, a tiny bit of Redhead MSF washed over top and on the cheeks over blush and Blow Dry with Live and Dye l/g... so glowy and pretty!

The 226 – I don’t have many MAC brushes actually, despite my thousands of dollars worth of MAC makeup
winks.gif
, so I like to pick up a basic brush now and then, so far I’m really liking it as my previous crease brush was much fluffier and ended up being much messier during application

I had one GiftCard and 24 empties, so I basically got the lip products and one MSF Free, which was awesome
winks.gif
Plus taking that little black baggie out of the store after holding off for so long was FANTASTIC

My favourite lipsticks from this are Marquise d' and Blow Dry, but out of the three you name I'd go for Marquise d' and All's Fair.

The colour was lovely - it's the texture I loathed. It was a chalky mess for me.

It's very pretty, but also quite pale and sheer. I find it works best over a good base (Fresh Cement shadestick works beautifully). For me, it was something different from the rest of my greys, but that's a section of my collection that still needs some building (I'm a fiend for intense colors).

I didn't even attempt to try it. I knew I would look a hot mess with it on. LOL

B-Babe on my lips.

Keep in mind I have the most NON pigmented lips ever. They turn blue if I'm even the slightest cold. :/

I went back and got All's Fair. I couldn't get it out of my mind so I had to have it! I thought I would get the Blonde MSF too but I passed, and got Shale e/s instead.

So I got Blonde MSF... But when I apply it I just look dirty in the facial area, not sexily glowing like I should. I've tried applying with several different brushes and can't seem to make it work.

Help! Please!

Peggy Lee once crooned,

“…and I said to myself…Is that…all there is?”

MaxFactorAdjpg.jpg

Aaah the Golden Days of Glamour in all of its innocence!

It all seemed so simple then didn’t it? The shade of one’s hair determined every little nuance in completing your look.

Mr . Factor, the inventor of Lip Gloss, was so clever wasn’t he?

After, finally, viewing the collection inspired by the very shades that inspired Max Factor to revolutionize the makeup industry forever. This nostalgia had me musing on this collection more than most and, as usual, being the spoiled consumer that I am – always wanting more, and the best incarnation of it.
I reflected on Max Factor’s original vision and felt slightly saddened by MAC’s omission of the mythical hair shade of “Brownette”.

MaxFactorAdIIcopy.jpg

I thought about the relevancy in this day and age and thought to myself - yes – of course…it’s still relevant today! Especially, today, despite the media and beauty advertising industries attempts to eliminate the glamorous, ravishing, and vivacious notion of the non-blonde!

What one may classify as the textbook “Mousy Brown” in these days of highlights and tints. Still - the “Brownette “reigns supreme as the medium-hued shade range of anywhere between the darkest, darkest Blonde (Dishwater Blonde) to the lightest browns; as a rule. And as a rule Brunettes have traditionally fallen to very darkest browns to black and even raven colored shades.

I would love to hear how the creative Guru’s at MAC decided how to edit this collection the way they did.
Hmmmm Brunette, Blonde, Redhead? Simple! Seems easy enough…right? Wrong!

For a company that prides itself on diversity and spectrum and the gamut – it really reigned itself in for this collection. By that standard alone I would have included a fourth…excuse me “the” fourth shade.

One could easily argue that MAC, indeed, did consider the forgotten “Brownette” by simply tweaking the palettes they’ve conceived for us, but something seems missing. For me there is a tremendous hole in this collection big enough to drive a bus through…to be dramatic.

Some of the most beautiful woman in the world are “Brownettes”. Sofia Loren, Jennifer Lopez, and Rachel Welch, Cindy Crawford, Jennifer Garner & Anne Hathaway, to name oh so very few.
Has the industry really lost the original idea that Max Factor created when considering this hue? It's possible, but it won't be forgotten!
I wonder if anyone had bothered to mark the time of when, exactly, that occurred?

It was rather sad when I googled a search for “Brownette Actresses" and got this instead:

Did you mean to search for: Brunette actresses

Oh Tam Eva, how I miss you and your wonderful posts! So nice to see you on here!

So this of course had me thinking of my own little girl, because she is a BROWNETTE! And I really really hope when she is older (and if her hair doesn't deepen in colour) that she doesn't alter her hair colour, because I think that it is just beautiful. Maybe MAC will release a similar collection in 2022 and will include colours for brownettes!

Thank you for this post!

I don't even know what color my hair is anymore. It is so much darker now that I cut off all the shizz and it is all natural. What would I choose? Oh God!! How would I decide? J/K. TamEva, that was a cool story and made me realize that if I did take MAC's translation of hair to makeup colour story literally, I'd be screwed because I don't really fit in any category now!
