I couldn't get through Canadian Winter without petrolatum and silicone:) Well, maybe I could use whale blubber or something like that but I'd rather not.
Whale blubber...I think I'd rather not too.

It might not be bad for using to set eyeshadow or applying pigments, but it sounds like you'd be better off with a toning lotion or toner from a company that specializes in skin care. I love Fix+ for setting makeup, but for applying before I moisturize, I still stick with Clarins for my dry, sensitive skin.
Now, I want to try Clarins. Do they have nice moisturizer, too?

I swore by their hydrating line, extra-comfort cleansing cream and toner, and sandalwood oil for nighttime for over 10 years and here I am in my early 40's with skin that's smooth and really supple. Other than under my eyes, time's pretty much stood still. Couldn't ask for more.....

This year I've been experimenting with some of their more age-oriented products, but I'm beginning to feel like the hydrating products do all the moisturizing anyone needs and the rest of it is pretty much up to gravity.

As regards whether anyone would actually drink Fix+, I know of someone that might!

I hope that link works

Honestly I'm not into alternative medicine either (I don't even believe homeopathy is anything more than placebo) I just don't like the fact that my face cream/shampoo/whatever kills fish when I flush it down the sink

silicone may be safe (non toxic) for me, but it's not safe for the environment which in my point of view makes it not safe for me either

As far as I know anyway, the only research that proved the toxicity of lavender oil was made in vitro, while tests on volunteers have shown effectiveness against alopecia, dermatitis etc…here's one e.g. (I think the archives of dermatology are more reputable than some "new age" aromatherapy website ;) ). One research on mice (poor little things) even proved it can inhibit immediate-type allergic reaction, but unfortunately I couldn't find the full text. You seem pretty accomplished, maybe you can find it? The original source should be: Journal-of-Pharmacy-and-Pharmacology (United Kingdom). (1999). v. 51(2) p. 221-22. All I could find was an abstract

here it is.

Anyway, if you still don't trust essential oils I won't try to make you change your mind

they're highly concentrated, they do cause allergic reactions, and they must be used carefully so I fully understand if you don't feel like it. I just wanted to say that there is some research to back that up

Oh, and the petroleum thing was a typo, sorry

And sorry everyone for the big, huge OT. I swear this is my last post on the topic. Won't happen again.

I'm so glad you were able to pick one up to try! I love them on the water line. You'll have to let us know how they work for you.

it all depends on what cco has what so your best bet is to call your local cco to see if they have it. if they did i would imagine it would be in the old jar and usually they cost about 30% off retail.

I wanted the lavender fix + not realizing it's a "hazardous material" and therefore can't be shipped to me. I adore lavender, and while I'm tempted by the lip conditioner I just bought six Korres lip butters because they were on sale and I know it's going to take me awhile to get through those.

Bummed.

This slowness from MAC ain't helping...it's getting less busy on Specktra even, imo. Finding out about products last minute will not help me, I will just feel like it flew over my head when it gets released. I will be swamped with decisions that I will not want to stress or care  I'm just speculating ;) But come on, MAC! At least one month in advance would be decent and, I think, common sense for product awareness :p

I know, the secrecy is kinda turning me off MAC.
