MAC - Chill Collection Discussion

I stopped by the counter today & picked up arctic grey & wintersky.
Both are described as "mid-tone" (grey & pink) on the website but I'd describe both as light. Not highlight light, but light. Definitely lighter applied than they look in the pot.
Also, Arctic Grey is in fact labled as a lustre. It looks like a luster, but so far it doesn't appear to have "lustre-like" fallout. We'll see after I try it on the eye, so far I've only swatched it on my hand.
I had planned on getting Apres-ski as well, but it looked so blah in person, plus it barely showed up on me at all. So I skipped that one.

just got back from the mac store, yay
mac_haul.gif
i got:
wintersky e/s
arctic grey e/s
apres ski e/s
icescape l/g
frozen dream l/g

overall the collection was ok, i like it. it was small, and that's good for my wallet. less products = less temptation = less money spent.

wintersky: beautiful pale icy pink color, wonderful. goes on like a dream. yay, veluxe pearl. if you are only getting one e/s from this collection, this should be it. i didn't compare it to anything in the perm. line because i was set on getting it irregardless
tong.gif

apres ski: lovely grayed taupe. i had no problems getting this to show up on me. but... if you don't like mattes in general you probably won't like this either. i compared it to copperplate and there was a difference in the undertones. someone already mentioned this before. i can't remember which was which, but i picked apres ski because it was the more neutral of the two [copperplate was more brown, i think] and went better with the other e/s in the collection.

artic grey: shimmery grayed silver. love it! i compared it with a few other silvers in the permanent line. electra was slightly similar but it had cool/blue undertones. so once again i choose this because it was more neutral and went better with the other e/s. the other silvers were darker than it. it does say lustre on the bottom, i was disheartened by that at 1st, but it doesn't behave like a lustre at all. even the makeup artists were making a similar comment.

mont black: very similar to black tied, though mont black has gold/multi-colored sparkles and black tied has silver sparkles. define pass! save yourself some money and get black tied in pan form if you REALLY want it.

vellum: a very blue white. if that even makes sense. that's how it showed up on me. another pass! it could be cool if your into those types of colors.

penultimate liner: i swatched it on my hand and it felt like a was running a felt-tip marker across my had. needless to say, i was freaked out. i much prefer the gel texture of the fluidlines. idk about this one... it's perm. i'll contemplate it later, if at all.

lipglasses: snowscene very shimmery mutidimentional sheer white. pretty, but not something i would reach for. i'll take a dazzleglass over it any day. it wasn't gritty at all, so that's a plus. naked frost the typical nude gloss mac puts out with every collection. though it did have a nice pearlescent effect, but not cool enough for me to buy it. icescape pale pink with pearlescent shimmer, reminds me of not so innocent lipstick from fafi, love it! frozen dream frosty pink lilac, very pretty.

glitters: i don't use glitters, but both of them were beautiful. i especially liked the antiqued gold.

I bought the same ones as you.

Also, I agree about Arctic Grey not having any fallout.

I thought Arctic Grey was a lovely unusual colour - not too grey, not too cool, not too warm, just somewhere in the middle. Kind of light and bright but not colourful.

My arctic Grey is also labeled a luster and it CLEARLY looks like one. Believe it or not though I actually have small place in my heart for lusters (especially Retrospeck).

Arctic Grey looks VERY close to Filament luster e/s. Arctic grey is just a shade or two darker I would say. I would do a swatch but I am clueless as to how to resize pics

I have very few lustres (Pink Venus, Swimming, Arctic Grey and maybe one or two more) but I don't recall experiencing any more fallout than usual with any of those. Weirdness!

dip the pen liner in alcohol , blot with a tissue, and then smell the tip to make sure there is no alcohol smell left on the pen liner...

after seeing the collection in person, i think that i only want the pink e/s, the black with gold glitter e/s and the pen liner. that arctic grey eyeshadow completely disappeared on me when i did a swatch on my skin.

Hmmm...IDK. I wanted Wintersky at first (and MAYBE Artic Grey). But since BBR is coming soon and I've spend so much on xmas shopping, I think I'll completely pass this collection.

I'm thinking...Da Bling could probably be a close dupe for Wintersky and Electra for Artic Grey. I know they are not similar, but close enough. And both are perm, so it can wait.

I went to my local MAC counter to check out the collection and swatch...but I didn't buy anything. I'm definitely going back to get Snowscene l/g, though. It's a beautiful, almost kaleidoscopic colour, and would look amazing over a dark lipstick. Quote:

It's not a MAC shade, but if you can get your hands on it, Shu Uemura's Pressed Eye Shadow N in ME Silver 950 is perfect for that. I forget how I got it, but it is so buildable and soft.

I've been lurking.

Just wanted to say how much I love the penultimate liner. It's the easiest liquid liner I've ever used, and it stays on so well. Love it!!

I just found out it's perm so I'm pretty stoked about that, too.

Welcome, sweeteternity!

I bought the liner too... I usually just use a pencil or shadow but it was so impressive, when I tried it in the store, I had to get one!

I SO just threw all caution to the side and bought:

Apres-ski
Vellum
Artic Grey
Wintersky
Reflects Transparent Teal
Icescape
Frozen Dream
Penultimate Eye Liner

AND the Holiday Plum lip palette

Oh well, I HAD a monthly makeup budget, but I still got to buy Dame Edna. I have asked for giftcards to use toward BBR. Please pray for me!

I'm joining Team No together with Sanayhs. Haha.

But I'm still trying really hard to cut down on BBR. MAC has been sucking out too much money from my wallet.

Got my Chill stuff today!! I got Arctic Grey (gorgeous), Vellum (i think this would look amazing with a purple eye), and Wintersky. I was not planning on getting Wintersky, as I never wear pink e/s, but it is so beautiful, almost like a shimmery taupe-y pink on me if that makes sense!!! I had to get it!
I also got all 4 lipglasses. I really love them all, especially Snowscene and Naked Frost. I am still debating about the liner, I will probably go back for it.
I hope it snows enough for me to have no work tomorrow so that I can just play with this stuff!!!
