MAC - Chill Collection Discussion

I totally get that MAC can't please everyone all of the time, but try a little harder please. So I appreciate you bringing this up in this thread (the WOC Chill thread has been ranting).

It's been interesting, for if you follow this thread, it's largely been populated by the pale specktra members. I may be a woman of, well, no colour, but I appreciate that I'm hardly the average. I like that (at least in theory) MAC is for anyone and everyone, and it bothers me when they... just don't all of a sudden. And, from a business perspective, it also seems ridiculous because they're eliminating a lot of possible sales.

Fellow pale girls, rock this collection as it pleases you. I'm just unimpressed that the darker ladies can't join in.

Since new collections are coming out every few weeks, there will be something soon for those that like stronger colours.

I couldn't get into Metal Urge (too sparkly), Dame Edna (too randomly bright) or Suite Array (pencils too sparkly, reflective) but many people, who love those qualities, love those collections.

Something tells me you will more than make up for Chill when BBR (and maybe Hello Kitty?) comes out.

So i got myself all ready for Christmas dinner today, and was looking so forward to putting on Snowscene. I got the box out of the bag, took the gloss out of the box and noticed it was full of glitter. The SA gave me Snowgirl instead of Snowscene. Grrrr. What a let down.

Mmmm yeah, I agree with Samantha! I'm NC30 and even that's not dark, but too dark for this collection! At least for my own liking. All the colors were just frost, barely any to no pigment at all!

I was disappointed.

I think the point is though that you prefer not to wear sparkly or randomly bright colors, not that you simply can not wear them because there will be no color payoff.

At least everyone can use the penultimate liner. Although I wouldn't mind a few more color options than black!

In any event, I'm glad those of you who love them do. I broke out Electra and Knight Divine for a silver eye yesterday. Same kind of general idea as this collection, but with a bit more payoff and without the cost of new shadows. If I didn't mention it before, Wintersky showed up beautifully on my skin, but it definitely has its dupe in this year's cool eyes palette.

I just think with a bit of tweaking this collection could have been done better, and suited a broader range of people.

A little more variety *would* have been nice.
In cases like this, when I(NW15) love parts of a new collection (in this case the gray eyeshadows), but can't do others(pale lips look like the Dawn of the Dead on me) I kind of "make my own collection" by buying the items that will work for me, and supplementing them with permanent items that I'd been looking for an excuse to try.
From Chill, I got Arctic Grey shadow (LOVE!) and may get Apres-Ski, skipped the glosses and got Lady Danger lipstick, for my own soft-gray-eyes-with-flaming-red-lips look.
Gotta go check out Dame Edna!

I called Fairview today to make sure they still had Snowscene, they only had two left! I had them put one on hold, along with Varicose Violet n/p, ahem! I really don't feel like fighting the crowds today for a lipgloss!!!

Very smart. Fairview must have been a zoo.

I love love love Snowscene!!! My only regret is not getting two. And I'm really enjoying the liner and Mont Black. I haven't tried the rest yet, but so far this is one of my favorite collections <3

My thinking is that Chill was supposed to come out with DE, but instead was released a week early. Chill is the polar (excuse the pun...I had to do it) opposite of DE, so for those that aren't thrilled with Chill, then perhaps DE is more to their liking. Personally, I love the Chill shadows, but the lipglasses didn't thrill me. As for DE, I'm not thrilled with much of that collection, except for the lipglasses. I feel like both collections could've been so much better.

"Chill is the polar opposite" - funny!

Yes, Chill was supposed to come out with Dame Edna. I remember that now. Makes much more sense too, since they represent very different looks. It would have made a nice balance.

I felt the same way. I would be a shimmery mess with my eye lids looking like headlights.

Not sure why they didnt launch at the same time in the US, but both of these collections are definately being launched at the same time in Australia

Mind you... we still have to wait until the 14th of January for them!
