Apologies i'm not TISH, but i couldnt resist.

Most people think they need a back up. That's when they're certain their particularly covetted product will be used up and they want to save thenselves the trouble of having to hunt it down again

But- how do you KNOW you need a back up?

When the thought of even using it sparingly for the rest of your life is unsettling because product is actually disappearing,
and/or the fact you have finally hit pan and it sends you into a phobic, crazed state- you know need a back up.

When its actually all gone and you display one or all of the above symptoms in real time- you needed a back up.

i know that i will skip the MES (i have many many e/s), and check out the MSF. no blushes for me either, as i am pale enough that MSF show up like blushes on me. and maybe the 131 if it blows me away.

meh. i dont know. i am doubting MAC at the moment with their stupid price increases here, when MAC is already expensive.

Oh, I so know what you mean
lol.gif
inspiration at the counter is an invitation for disaster or not-buying-anything.
I did not even look at the 131, it is so ridiculously expensive here and I will boycott it.
Have fun Monday at the counter

Well I guess most people buy backups when they decide that they can't live without a particular product(s) for the rest of their lives.
sneaky.gif

Either that or you're really using the product a lot, like every single day, then you might want to back it up coz you're going to hit pan at a faster rate for sure.
winks.gif

Also, knowing that the items are LE might induce people into backing up products. The insecurities and "WHAT IFs" that pop into mind when faced with a LE item can always be warded off by buying a backup, which acts as a safety net in case some unforeseen circumstances happen in the future (e.g. lost item, shattered item, etc).
th_wink3.gif

But if you're able to resist, like myself, I really don't think there's a need for backups. With the amount of makeup I have, I probably won't hit pan on anything in this lifetime.
cutey.gif
And let's not forget that MAC almost always comes up with a new product and we will end up loving more (and there goes the whole backup cycle again).

I hope this is comprehensive enough for you.

Thank you I think I'm going to get a back up of Smooth Merge, just in case.

BU worthy to me is a product that you will reach for 9 times out of ten....A product that is LE and you can't just go buy a replacement when you use it up...A product that you can't see yourself not wearing for many years to come..A product that really makes you feel so pretty just by applying it and you have not felt that way about another product of it's type. I have a couple of these items in ea category...lipstick, lipgloss, MSF, blush etc....If i feel it is a product that I will hit pan on and I can't replace I feel it is BU worthy. MAC does come out with great things all the time...But those great things are not always great things to everyone...and they do not always take the place of your beloved item...people to this day are still kicking themselves for not backing up items like Stereo Rose, Lightscapade...and MAC has not come up with replacements or anything better in their opinion yet so they have to do without, until...I try not to make that mistake if I have a choice...and since I have the choice I just buy what I want and like. If I get something better in newer collections GREAT....If not I have what I already like which is even Better...I buy now at the right price than hunt it down and pay double ...HTH

You're welcome my love...you know MSF's sell like hotcakes in the CB...so you will not be out of anything if you don't need it later....

No one needs a back-up. You just get hyped up and excited when you first purchase a product that you really like, but after a while the exitement dies down and a new love comes along. Chances are MAC will release a very similar or better product in the future or do a repromote.

There's absolutely no point getting back-ups for me, I haven't finished a single MAC product in my 4 years of loving mac.

Ok, so that I know I am not damn crazy, Could I please see some FOTD's with Assemblage (besides Erine, b/c she is a damn genius). I've gone back to this son of a bitch 3 times. All three times it SUCKED ASS.

So, I'm guessing that this example along with the fact that Smooth Merge and Cheeky Bronze weren't glitter bombs for me AT ALL and that SBN made me look RIDICULOUS proves that you should:

SWATCH THESE BEYOTCHES IN PERSON.

I absolutely agree with you 180% on this. The only products I have ever had to replace, or by "back-ups", if you will, are on my face products (moisturizer, concealer, foudation), brow pencil and mascara (cover girl's lash blast-just pick it up when needed).

I went buck wild crazy over Smoke and Diamonds, used it for 1 week straight, freaked out and bought a back up. I haven't touched Smoke and Diamonds since then b/c about 20 other collections launched the following week and I am stuck with 2 full pans of it.

MAC repromotes all the time. Remember when we all freaked out over Solar White? Only to see if back less than a year later?

I respect your opinion but respectfully disagree....I said that with 2N and Aloof and ran out of both and had to hunt them down...had nothing to do with excitement but with what I loved and used a lot...if it is something you will not use a lot then YES I agree..If it is something you will use 5 out of 7 days a week...I say Back it up...has nothing to do with hype

And tell that to all the Lollipop Lovin lovers that backed that tube up like crazy !

My favorite peach nude lipgloss is Luxuriate from Ornamentalism 2005.It is perfection for my skin in a tiny bottle. It has not been released again (to my knowledge) and I have yet in 4 years seen MAC release a peach that I would reach for every time.

So I am all for back-ups, especially since I can't use my favorite unless on special occasions.

It is best to use an item for two weeks to a month and if you obsessed with it, hunt that sucker down and get a backup. I wish I would have listened but I know now. I have yet to find anything I am crazy about than Luxuriate, except So Ceylon and Warmed MSF, PartyMate l/s and Ahoy, There l/s.

So I disagree with you Rbella but you are still my favorite pissy person.

that would be me! when the uk sold out neon kitty kindly sent me mine from canada! i waited 3-4 weeks for it to arrive but that baby is worth it! and i dont think mac will get another colour like lollipop loving - the green sheen is very unique. granted this is the only product that i have backed up - but i can understand why people do have back ups. if i had more cash i would have bought many more tubes! i use this lippie so much and it would suck major ass if i run out!

Rbella, what was it about Assemblage that you didn't like?!

I got this yesterday and I tried it out this morning. I LOVE it! Now my favourite of the three I got from CC. The colours show up really well, and I didn't have to dampen the brush. The yellow-y gold and grey shades are stunning! It took me minutes to do my eye m/u with this and it looked great!

^^^Seriously????????? Mine was HORRIBLE. Even my best brushes couldn't pick up the color. I tried it wet, over a base, everything. Maybe I just got a shit-tastic one?
th_dunno.gif
I was expecting the Gold to look fab and it barely look noticeable. It was so hard to get any color on my brush (except for the grey, I will give credit to being able to pick up color on that one). But, the white, gold and black were VERY chunky and just....Awful.

The grey looked so bad on me I had to wipe it off and re-do my eye. I've tried it a number of times and it just looks like mud on me. Maybe it's my skin-tone???

Yes, I saw that. I thought she looked gorgeous, as always. I just thought that the colors would have been, brighter? I don't know. I just was really let down by it. I feel that the FOTD that she posted was beautiful, but I just felt that it could be dupeable? This is in NO way offense to the poster, she did a great job and looks gorgeous!!!

Gonna try mine tomorrow....Haven't yet...But I can say just opening the container...The fall out seems horrid...But maybe it will surprise me...and yes I do think it is dupable after getting it home
