Re: Colour Forms Collection Discussion Thread

I got to play with this stuff today at my Nordy's counter. I didn't pre-order a lot, just 3 things; Sun centered Colour Form Powder, Pop Circle l/s, & Female Richmetal H/L. I am still debating on getting Rose Bullion & Quick Flash Richmetal. I wasn't too keen on the palettes and I wanted to wait until the holiday collection to get another brush set.

I think there is a little something for everybody in this collection...But I love the Richmetal highlighters!!

I almost forgot, I think the stickers on the lippies are better than Fafi, but they still are stickers...

I agree. I think you can find something to suit your needs in this one. I'm pumped about the highlighters, powder and Pop Circle lippie. BRING 'EM ON!!

My MA once said they haven't got the same quality as the regular brushes. As a comparison the 187 alone costs US $ 42.00 and the whole brush set (just) US $ 49.50. The short handles can't be the only reason.

But I personally tested the SE brushes and really like them!!

I just pre-ordered my must-haves from the Colour Form Collections.

Like Heatherette this collection will just be available at two counters here, and they will ship it to me in August. I am always early with these things

Hi ladies! Went by the MAC counter at the Bay in Fairview Mall (TO) today. The MA told me that the display should be up with all the samples next week and they will be accepting pre-orders on this collection. Not sure if all the Bay's do this, but I know the Fairview location does with the Bay exclusive collection each year.

I'd also like to add that the MA's are super nice at this counter!

I would have been more impressed and interested in the e/s palettes if they were pressed/baked together, but they aren't. Neither palette interested me, so I didn't bother swatching them. I did swatch the Cool Lips palette (rather nice though not ZOMG WOW), Steel Blue pigment (not wild about the consistency of it), Pop Circle l/s (nice but it doesn't interest me), Royal Flush pigment (looking for dupes as we speak), Gilded Green pigment (not duped by Golder's Green, Golden Olive or Pastorale), and Rose Bullion and Dark Influence highlighters. If anyone can think of something for me to swatch next to any of these, PLMK in the next 30 minutes or so. I don't have an extensive MAC collection, so I probably won't have what you're looking for, but try me.

The only items I'm thinking about preordering are the Cool Lips palette and Gilded Green. I just wonder how many green pigments and lippies I need...

Can you tell me how Gilded Green is different from the other green pigments - Pastorale, Golders Green and Golden Olive? Is it lighter, darker, etc? What do you do with the Richmetal highlighters?

I've been thinking that maybe 90% of Gilded Green plus 5% of Golden Olive plus 5% of Pastorale equals Golder's Green. I know that equation isn't right, but I've been trying to tweak it so it'll be right. Pastorale is a very tiny smidge warm sea green with some silver microshimmer. Gilded Green has more green plus even more blue than Pastorale has, and it's more metallic/reflective than Pastorale. I hesitate to say if Gilded Green is cool or warm at this point; it seems like the metallic sheen is just a tiny bit warm while the base is a little bit more cool. Golden Olive is just way yellow and more olive and more warm, and Gilded Green is more blue and is a dark light green. The undertone to Golder's, if I look at it and Gilded from the side, is a little more light and pastel, while Gilded looks a little more yellow and a little darker. That's kind of weird, because if I look at them from above, Gilded looks more cool and Golder's looks more golden and warm. Once I get the swatch pictures edited and uploaded, I sure hope you'll be able to see the difference between all four.

I don't know what the two Richmetal Highlighters I swatched are for!

The shimmer in Rose Bullion would be too much for me to use on my cheekbone (only my personal preference), Dark Influence is too purple for me to use there, and I couldn't use either on my eye because my lids are so oily. The MA said they were similar to the Metal-X shadows, and I tend to agree with her (though I didn't play with Metal-X myself.) I'm sure folks that are more creative with their makeup would be able to come up with some nice uses for these.

Thank you so much for the awesome swatches and review! Why does everything seem to be coming out at once?!!? How will I ever decide? I think you sold me on Gilded Green pigment! I wanted the powders, but I might get the mineralize blushes instead. Decisions, decisions...

I am telling you, ALL of it is gorgeous. The pigments are spectacular. Gilded Green is a knockout. Your colouring would really go well with the Warm Eye Palette.

My pre-order was like 300 frickin' dollars. That's how gorgeous the collection is.

Want to hear something funny? I had two missions at the mall today:

1. Swatch for the Specktra Crew
2. Order drapes and a chair

Well, I got so damn excited to see the collection that I went straight there and started swatchin' like a fool. Then I realize, 'Hmmmm....I still need to go buy drapes and furniture.' Yeah, I was walking all over Pottery Barn with swatches. Despite my explanation, the sales lady was still a bit confounded.

SO glad your swatches remained intact despite chair shopping!

Are the powders dark enough for NW15 to use as a blush, or are they more like the Barbie beauty powders? I would ask what you preordered, but maybe it is easier to ask what you DIDN'T preorder?

Do you think Circa Plum pigment will be close to Lovely Lilly?
