MAC - Dare To Wear Discussion

Well, my MAC package arrived while I was out oggling more products at the MAC shop, and I LOVE the new lipglasses
th_DANCE.gif

Gimme That is fabulous - I put it on and had to keep going back to the mirror for another look - hubby thought it was rather fabulous too, and it takes a lot to get him interested in makeup
tong.gif
The colour lasted for hours too - I put on a thin layer at about 6pm and it was still on at midnight, having lasted through a trip to the cinema with drinks and popcorn - the glitter wore off a little, but there was still a lot of colour left on my lips. I really love this colour!!!

Bold and Brash is great too - I wore it all day yesterday and couldn't stop admiring its glorious sparkly redness - it matches the ruby slippers I got for Christmas
yes.gif

I wondered what it would look like over a darker red base, so last night I put on a dark red lip stain (Stargazer permanent tattoo pen shade 02 - it's not mine, it's my daughter's - honest) and then put Bold and Brash over the top and it was BRILLIANT.
drools.gif
The only problem was getting it off again - I had to use oil, then a sugar scrub, then my toothbrush - but the colour was worth it. Next time I might try a dark red lip pencil instead of the permanent tattoo pen
th_LMAO.gif

I tried to take photos to show you all, but my camera seems to distort the shades of my cosmetics and everything comes out too light - my lovely, deep red looked like a bright, orangey tomato red, so there didn't seem much point in posting it.

I had a few things, but I got rid of them because I wasn't in love. Maybe they're too mature for me, I don't know. I feel like everything is really serious. I probably wouldn't buy from them even if they weren't associated with Shiseido. I am more inclined to brands like MAC, UD, and MUFE (even though I won't buy them) because they have the huge array of fun shades.

I've always wondered why I didn't warm to NARS- aside from the fact that I won't buy it because it's animal tested- and I think you just nailed it. I feel the same way about Bobbi Brown a lot of the time, who is on PEtA's list of companies that don't test. Just a little too conservative, when I want make-up to be fun. Sure there are times when I want neutrals, but MAC, UD and others have those. They just have a lot more besides.

On topic, I must admit, I sinned today and went back to this collection. It was totally the bf's fault, though. I tried Ban This! on my hand and he literally insisted that it didn't look that much like other glosses I have. Weirdest of all, he persuaded me to buy wind me up, which is the one colour in the whole collection I couldn't have seen myself in. Worst part is, he was right. It looks like liquid copper on my lips and, though it is a warm shade, it's really nice. And, yes, Ban This rocks. Sigh. My credit card company loves me.

Dare to Wear: Gimme That! or Bold & Brash???

Tomorrow I'm going to a MAC store. I really want a Dare to Wear l/g, but I'm stuck between Gimme That! and Bold & Brash. I'm NW15-20/brown hair/blue eyes. Which one should I choose?
(I might not be able to get both lipglasses, so which should be my first choice?)

Thanks

Its funny how those around us sometimes unwittingly aid our addiction and feed the cosmetic junkie in us .

Agree on the Bobbi Brown, too! I know it's good products, but it's just a little boring for me.

Maybe when I grow out of purple. Though, that will never happen!

Michelle, in the Chanel thread suggested her hubby a lipgloss bouquet ... I love when hubby gets me flowers, but that would suit me even better!! Maybe you can suggest Nick a Dare to Wear lipglass bouquet!!

I think the Dare To Wear glosses are pretty close to what you would get if you mixed a Rouge Allure Laque and a Dazzleglass. They're awesome!

SOLD!!! SOLD!!! SOLD!!!

RAL + Dazzleglass??

Might need them all!!

Today I used Shock-a-holic (finally somewhat successful) with Freshwater and a hint of Beautiful Iris and I am in love.
love.gif
Kept the lips kind of light with Kinda Sexy
graucho.gif
which is rare for me, but I am totally loving my look today!

Off Topic: I sent it B2M empties (depots) online, and stupidly, I got DC b/c when I went to the post office, I was tired and I just said yes to everything. Well, I tracked them, and it says they arrived but that they had to leave a notice? Was I not supposed to use USPS? Like MAC is really going to go out of their way to pick up my depots?
th_LMAO.gif
So, that was a wash. And I am out two sets of B2M empties.

DTW was out today! I ended up with Going Bananas, like planned, and also Bold&Brash and So Bad glosses. I tried my best to ignore the lipglosses but nothing doing - they were so pretty! Bold&Brash will be so nice with rosy pink cheeks and subdued eyes, I think.

Digi Pop was also out and I had it mixed up with the previous Pop something collection, the one with Lucky Green in it. The Dazzle lipsticks didn't impress me, which was lucky, since I already feel guilty for spending more than planned on DTW!

Was it a regular address or a PO Box you sent your empties to (I've never B2M online so I don't know where they're sent)? If you did delivery confirmation there's no requirement for someone to sign for the package, they should have just left the package. They should only have needed to leave a notice if it was signature confirmation or if it was PO box and the package didn't fit in the box... Although I'm pretty sure if MAC has PO Box for B2M it's a pretty big one! lol. If it is a PO Box that the package didn't fit into it won't show as delivered until someone from MAC goes and gets it, I know at my office we do PO Box pick ups 2 times a week.

Plus i'm guessing if noone goes to pick it up, your empties will be returned to sender. It may take a while, but you will get them back.

Glad you got SH to work for you and the combo sounds pretty
greengrin.gif
...just like I did the other day except I put a little Lovely Lily in the inner 1/3. I wanted to to tell you my success of taking my depots this morning to the nearby MAC counter at Macy's! The ladies were very nice to me....much nicer then the FS store at the other mall. At first they werent going to give me the digi-pops but then another MUA came over and they were chatting about it while I was at the Estee counter waiting to get foundation and they called me back over and said they were allowed. The mua had told the other one about the new rules about B2M so I was able to get Hot Sass. I told them what Fair Oaks had done to me and they said they were wrong and they should've taken them back without the middle plastic pan. I also booked an appt for the Fab Felines on that Saturday following when the collection comes out.

You won't have lost your depots I wouldnt think. If MAC doesnt pick them up which I"m sure they will they post office will return them to you.

what day did the post office try to deliver. MAC could have been closed. They will go and get it. if there is a problem and you insured the items (cause ultimately, they are worth $$ 14.00-14.50 for each set) you will be able to make a claim.

Re: Dare to Wear: Gimme That! or Bold & Brash???

Don't know if this is too late, but I would say get Gimme That! because Bold & Brash may be too harsh/strong for NW15-20. Then again, the color speaks for itself lol

Good luck! =)
