Re: Dress Camp discussion

Woo woo. Requested my aunt to go get me the fashion lipglass. Not the lipstick...
I won't ask for the palette though, it's too expensive to justify.

My relatives would laugh at me. xD

This soooo sounds like something I would do!

I did buy 2 additional Too Fab off of Ebay fairly reasonable 1 before the collection launched & 1 after. But the one after, in Singapore, said they buy direct from their MAC store & they are not sold out at all.

When you think about it, the palette was restocked, then the lipglasses were restocked. I'm wondering if they'll restock the lipstick next, even for a couple of hours since that's what they did with the other products in the collection. This sounds so lame, but I've been checking everyday to see if that's happened. I freaking LOVE too fab with she gold over it! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

I think I will just buy it off of ebay. Because the prices are about the same. Grrrrrr I hate ebay!

I finally got a chance to try everything out today. I must say, I'm so glad that I decided to order the palette after all (ordered it from the Vancouver store the day it came out). The colours are light but show up nicely. I used all three colours and used Vanilla pigment on the brow bone and some mascara. It was such a simple, quick yet very pretty eye that really brightened up my face. I also tried Too Fab with she-gold over it, loooove. But I did find that using the pink beauty powder from the palette was just too much pink with the lipstick, though they're both so pretty separately. I'm pretty sure I'll be using this palette a lot this summer!!! Maybe a nude lipstick with She-Gold will be better when I use the DC pink powder and just some bronzer on the cheeks when I use Too Fab! Either way, I'm happy

Edit - So I tried the palette and used Honeylove on my lips with She-Gold. The perfect neutral look for me. This will be my go-to palette when i finally return to work this summer.

I think it might be due to the fact that things are a whole lot more expensive here (I'm in Malaysia). For example, lippies cost abt $63 (local currency) if i'm not wrong, and pigments are like $80 each, compared to in US where a lippie costs $14 and pigments are $19.50. So as much as i want to feed my addiction to MAC, i need to control it as it ends up getting real expensive after awhile.

But on the plus side, collections don't sell out as fast, so i don't need to be in a mad rush each time a new collection comes out.

Well, you have to consider the conversion to the US currency. In Taiwan, the lipglass is $580, which is about $19USD. Which isn't that much more expensive that it isn't affordable. Actually, the lipglass should be $16.50, like Canadian price, but they already add tax to everything, which is why it is $19. In fact, Dior, Anna Sui, Shu Uemura are actually even crazier in prices. And obviously it is more expensive due to the fact that MAC is in US, so it has to be imported.

I still think that I don't see MAC is very popular in Asia because of the bright colors and the more hip/edgy look. The Asian demographic (going from my cousins and magazines I've seen) is for more lighter and shimmery neutral colors that make the wearer look very cute. It might be in Japan though, because there is a big punk population there, but not in Taiwan.

Blahhh, the She-Gold I ordered when it came back up was backordered =( I guess I'm not going to get it... I ordered it 30 mins before it sold out again so that really sucks.

i agree. lippies in my country cost approx (prices converted in USD) $23 for a lippie, $28 for a pigment and so on and so forth.

Re: Dress Camp discussion

I noticed they took DressCamp off the site this morning, I guess that means no more restocks?

EDIT...I just noticed it is all still there just not listed as a collection, its all scattered through the site now, so maybe there will be another restock

When u convert it, yes, it works out to be only slightly more expensive, however u have to take into consideration the average pay in that particular country. For example, a part time job in starbucks or a fastfood joint would only pay abt RM4-6/hr, and most university grads just starting out would prob get paid RM1-2k. So it does work out to be pretty expensive in that sense. But what u said about the neutral color thing is true, bolder colors don't sell out as fast.

Re: Dress Camp discussion

I finally got Too Fab l/s, Fashion l/g and the palette. I can now understand why u girls were going crazy over Too Fab & Fashion cos i absolutely love it too. I'm thinking if i should try and get a back up cos it might look similar to Hollywood Nights and supposedly Heatherette is only being released in July (VERY VERY late i know). So for those who have both (too fab & hollywood nights), are they real similar??
