Oops my bad. I never read that. It must have been mentioned on threads that I didn't see. Sorry

Wow, so many posts to catch up on! I hate being too ill to come on to Specktra....

I'm feeling a little bit calmer about this HK collection now. I can focus on the accessories - totes, compacts etc. - as the colours aren't really for me. I love the packaging though, which surprises me as I'd actually prefer it to be white, red and pink. Maybe (like others have said) the stuff coming out later will be in the original HK colour schemes?

My wishlist so far:
* Blush
* Both makeup bags
* Purse mirror
* Mirrored key clip
* Tote
* Maybe a BP and the brush set???
th_dunno.gif

* And I secretly want to get the bling Kouture compact but won't admit it to myself...

Obviously my mind will change once I see and do swatches, as usual

Re: MAC - Hello Kitty Feb 2009 Discussion

I loooove the packaging!!

My list is pretty small so far, I only want one or two of the lippies and glosses and maybe a dazzleglass, a beauty powder and maybe a blush. The shadows are a little too 80s for me, at least by looking at the pictures.

My only problem is...Ill be in Belgium in February and wont be back in the States till May. Does anyone know if I will be able to purchase something online using my US credit card and have it shipped to my house in the US? I know its a silly question but I heard from someone that this may be an issue.

If not, my SO has a valentine's gift already figured out.

I'm not criticizing the people who are noting that they see a lot of repetition, and I'm not going to buy identical products just because of pretty packaging. But when you think about it, unless you're advocating a collection of blue lipsticks and green blushes (which I would adore), there's not much more MAC can do.

All I'm saying is that for something which has been touted to be sooo big and amazing and earth-shattering, it looks pretty disappointing. There IS so much more they could have done with this. Perhaps they still will. I sure hope the details yet to be released are worth the hype that has been made about this. I see some plastic-y looking accessories in that picture....nothing new besides that. Now are you seriously trying to tell me that a cosmetics GIANT like MAC can't do better than that?

Every company knows it has to be innovative and forward thinking to beat the competition. My opinion is that MAC has such a strong customer base that its incentive for innovation is seriously diminished compared to some other brands.

I mean...we just had Manish Arora with a bright orange gloss. I bet thousands of people who bought that one will also buy this one. I'm just saying....

And I think the quoted above proves my point about MAC not having to try....and still being in big business if they sold fancy bottled water. Same stuff...different package. Sounds like HK to me.

Ipod touch!!! I have had one for almost a year now..and I love it!!! Plus the new generation of them are cheaper and bigger memory. They can hold everything from movies, music videos, tv shows, music, games...there's sooo much to do with them!! They are a little bigger then the nanos are now a days but probably not too much bigger then the ipod mini that you had from four years ago. The new nanos are alot cheaper now too with lots of colors, but it just basically depends on what you are looking for in an ipod..if its just music, then go with the nano..if you are looking for more like movies and games..then definitely get the ipod touch!!

I think MAC is one of the few cosmetic companies that brings out a new LE collection every what...month or so? Ive only really started buying into MAC since Fafi and even then, I missed several collections.

MAC knows they can dupe the colours because there are alot of people who dont follow the new collections and miss out on some of the amazing colours they do bring out.

Manish Aurora was released here in UK, in Harrods only, I live no where near London and I wasnt gonna travel there just to buy some lippy and gloss and most of the stuff had sold out on the net within days! I was devasted
ssad.gif

So far the l/s, l/g and dazzleglasses look like they are going to be in bright pinks, oranges and hopefully maybe lavander..? Ill be grabbing alot cos I missed those in Manish Aurora and Ive almost ran out of Fun N Sexy.

Lalunia, I dont think purchasing online from a foreign country will be too hard, Ive bought things from US sites, the only problem I can see is that your browser might redirect you to the applicable euro site instead. If all else fails, you could give your wishlist and c/c details to a friend or family to buy the stuff for you.

Okay, I don't get all the people saying this. Did you buy Shine Manish? It is not orange. It's a rich, orangey, coraly red, but it is not orange. It certainly is not the popsicle orange that seems to be the lipglass in that picture.

Oh dear, that'd mean 12 limited edition collections a year. Try to double tripple that number
lol.gif

I'd much prefer that, but unfortunately there's more collections per year than you can count!

What MAC could do is come out with a copy of MUFE #92 (the purple one, everyone knows about but darnit if you can find it at Sephora in-store or online). That's what they could do? But I agree with you, 100%.

Re: MAC - Hello Kitty Feb 2009 Discussion

I dont remember who mentioned the pic with the lone pair of lashes floating around (Adlersmommy???), but I went back and looked and indeed, they're there. It looks really funny with the elaborate staged makeup and then these little lashes just thrown in haphazardly in the foreground. It makes me think of a little tiny makeup elph that set up the scene and then left his little tiny rake there. I was expecting "different" lashes, but they're very demure looking.

The more I look at the pictures..the less excited I am..
I have to admit, I'm disappointed in the packaging. I really hope the other items that aren't shown are cuter than this

Am I the only one totally underwhelmed here? Despite my age I LOVE the fun, themed collections like Barbie, Heatherette, Fafi, etc and the early descriptions should have me more excited (glitter, piggies, lashes etc.) but the more pics I see the more I feel like I will pass. Guess that leaves more for you hardcore HK fans. :)

i think it's cute, but not exactly what i had imagined....not as cute as what i'd imagined
smiles.gif
but still cute.

i can pass on the accessories, ive seen enough hello kitty stuff in TJMaxx this weekend (very cute Hello Kitty pajamas i got for my daughter, notepads, bookbags,lip balm...they had lots of things with hello kitty)

but from what i can see in the pic, i think i'll just do a l/s and l/g and blush for me. maybe a beauty powder. i've collected LE beauty powder compacts...but admittedly i only occasionally actually use the beauty powders.
