MAC Interviews & Hiring Process

Back on the MAC Attack!

It's so funny. I went in to interview for a counter manager position at Shiseido recently. The interview was great and they offered me the position. However I told them I wanted to think about it since the money for a management position imho was low. As I'm leaving I happen to see my old regional trainer from my MAC days. She is now managing one of the MAC counters. I told her I was trying to get back into working make up and she immediately tells me to apply with her. So I re-did my application and then had to do another demo interview since it has been so long. And now I'm back! I am so excited to be coming back. I didn't realize how much I missed working at MAC.

MAC new hire paperwork? how long did it take

so i got the position last week and im still waiting to do my paperwork for my counter. my manger has been in contact with me saying she is still waiting for the packet to come in and she will call me when to come in and fill it out.

i was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and how long it took you to fill out your paperwork.

i wanna start working already she told me my start date would be oct 1st but i have heard paperwork takes 2 weeks to process. so im kinda nervous i wont start till a later date.

i dont wanna call and be like do u have it i dont wanna seem pushy

so any advice would be great

LOL all MAC paperwork seems to take forever. Getting my staff card didn't take too long but some of the other girls waited months

Re: MAC new hire paperwork? how long did it take

Typically you fill your paperwork out as soon as you can after being hired. I filled mine out just a day or two after I was hired. Maybe your manager was simply out of the new hire packets. So hopefully those do come in soon because the sooner that is sent in the better.

Luckily I am already on freelance and worked for MAC before so they are just paying me through that so I can start right away, but my manager said her last hire took three weeks for her paperwork to go through. I would say call once a week just to check in and see how things are going. You can tell her you're just excited to get started and that way she will know you are hoping to start ASAP. MAC is SLOW with paperwork so unfortunately you might have to wait a little longer, but remember the reward is worth it at the end.

Re: MAC new hire paperwork? how long did it take

Basically when the counters/stores run out of new hire packets they have to wait for them to come in the mail. So depending on how on top of things the higher ups in our area are depends on how long she'll receive a new hire packet. I'd call her Monday just to check in with her since counter managers can get a little busy and side tracked sometimes. It's not being pushy, it's taking care of important stuff for your job. Paperwork takes a weeek or two to go through. Good luck and congrats on the job!!

Please help! Permanent MAC interview

Anyone have any advice on interview questions. I've been a MAC freelancer for a few months now and have an interview for a perm position. I'm really nervous, please help!

If you have time, I would highly recommend that you read through the stickys. There are tons of great stories about others interview experiences to help you out. The main things I would say are

1. Make sure you are dressed all black and professionally.
2. Make sure your makeup is flawless. Shoot for a more polished neutral look rather than a dramatic look.
3. Keep a smile on your face
4. Be open to feedback

I have an interview next wednesday. I am so freakin NERVOUS. It's like I dont even know why. I hope deep down I nail it, but im sooooooooooooooooooooo NERVOUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

One of my counters seasoned employee's gave me an appilication and alot of contact info and told me to apply and how she always loved my makeup whenever I come in.

I kept the app but didnt apply. Now its two months later I call the manager and told her that her employee referred me, and even after I told her my experience was somewhat limited ect, she was like, "uh huh, yea so i'll see you on wednesday, bring your own brushes and a model, dress in all black and have a full face of makeup on". I guess that employee's word is all that mattered. Though there is a very good possibility that the manager knows exactly who I am seeing as I kind of reside at that counter, and have for like three years.

Sorry for the ramble....lol. I know I got this, but its still intimidating. This is like MY DREAM JOB!!

you will do fine its my dream job as well. im a 15 hour permanent at my counter.
just stay come and speak from your heart. do your home work always say u wanna learn more never think you know everything.
my manager told me when she was interviewing another boy she asked what would u like mac to offer you as far as learning and he said nothing i already know everything lol i was like well then lol

when u do the demo take more than you need my demo was a bit weird i was in a room and worked out of a kit instead of the counter so my products were limited

everyone situation is different i have heard of them tearing a look out of a magazine and having u recreate it or do a day look take it to night. mine was a girl needed her makeup touched up cause she was going out

so just be your self

hope that helps

for a day look go neutral maybe brulee soft brown in the crease add some swiss chocolate in the over v to take it to night add a bit of carbon and blend it into the crease and smudge the line u use on the lower lash line for the eyes and darken the lips u do its all good but be prepared to get it all switched up on you they do that

It went spectacularly well. My soon-to be manager (being that I pass round 2 of the interviewing process) could not have been more AWSOME! Yes, she did critique me ALOT, but she was also incredibly helpful. We spoke like we we friends. I cant wait to become a MAC Make-up Artist.

Gwad, I really did give myself an ulcer since that interview call.....lol. It wasnt even that big a deal. I'm as happy as can be. Thank you all for your support. I'll let you know how stage two goes, its in three weeks.
