Hi all so after jumping through a bunch of hoops i was able to get in contact with the regional manager. I sent her my resume and she called me to set up a phone interview (we are in different states) for monday. OMG i am nervous and curious about what the initial phone interview will be about. Any help on what she will ask me or what info i should polish up on? What will determine whether i move on or not. Any help would be great.

I will be honest, I have never done the phone interview. Both times I was hired, they skipped it for me so I don't know for sure what gets covered in a phone interview.

That being said my biggest bits of advice:
1) Know the MAC story and know Viva Glam.
2) Show your passion for MAC products
3) Be ready with examples of your sales ability or ready to fake sell something
4) Be very open to feedback.

It's hard to say what will give you an edge without knowing who else you might be against for a position. But showing you have researched MAC thoroughly will demonstrate your passion for being successful with MAC.

hi there MAC lovers....so, I just wanted to share my experience with MAC hiring process....

I got an email from the South West recruiter inviting me to attend a MAC career call and it was on January 20th in San Diego, Ca @ their training facility....
so, they told me to bring clean brushes and a model.. and there were about 15-20 applicants plus their models...the first 30 minutes we had to fill out an application, then the next hour was a group interview which went awesome...then the next hour was the makeup interview which was awesome, also....@ the end of our interviews I got to show the recruiter and other managers my portfolio and they loved it....the same day I got a text from one of the managers saying if I could come and meet with her for another verbal interview on February 1st....

I had my interview last Tuesday with 2 Managers....and it went okay...I coulda answered questions much better...I was soo nervous and I hope they knew it...anyway, @ the end of my interview she said she would call in 2 days....I followed up after not hearing from them in two days....What should I do or do any of you have any insight on how long til' they know who to hire or not to hire??

M.A.C. Cosmetics Interview: Am I experienced enough?

So. I applied for M.A.C. the other day., got a interview and she said she would call me back after the next few interviews. I'm going crazy waiting on the phone call for a second interview. I'm applying for a perm part-time position and or freelance ( whichever they offer me!! but for sure the perm position is the one I want!) at a makeup counter. I attended cosmetology school for a year and later transfered into a stylist apprenticeship. I have about 2 years of professional training which included makeup and skincare. I have always wanted to be a M.A.C. MUA and this would be an amazing experience for me to grow within the company, as well as my own achievement. Do you think I am qualified enough? I felt good about my demo interview and the verbal went well. Please, any advice would be great.

Fourth Interview with MAC Counter Manager DC/MD/VA

I have my fourth interview with a counter manager and my nerves are completly wrecked rightnow
blink.gif
. I think its because this is the determining interview, at least i think it is. If the manager doesnt want you at their location, are your chances of working for MAC completly shot? I've been calm with every other interview...even the one with Homa [she's really nice, if i might add], but for some reason i just cant get my mind off this one... What kind of questions should I expect? Is there a demonstration involved? Uhhh!!! Please Help all you Wonderful MAC Artists :)

Hey, I actually interviewed with Homa too when I lived in Baltimore. On my 3rd interview, I interviewed with the store manager for Towson, they ended up hiring someone else. A week or two later, Homa called me to say that a different store manage (in Columbia) wanted to interview me. That was the store I ended up working at. I think if you've gotten this far, you're set. Even if this location doesn't choose you, you're obviously a top pick for mac.

Finally I get to share my experience. I received an email about 2 to 3 months after I emailed the regional rep about a position at mac. The email invited me to interview with the regional at Macys on a Saturday. She was very nice but very tough on shooting the questions out. I was asked what I knew about MAC, why I wanted to work at MAC, to rate my (1-10) experience with product knowledge, color theory, brushes, etc. Based on my answers I was then asked questions like since you are pretty good with the color wheel, what would be the complementary color if a customer had blue eyes, what kind of brush you would use to apply an emollient moisturizer, sell me a pair of lashes and show me how to use them. It was a little intense. 3 weeks later I received an email from the rep inviting me to do a second interview. I saw the email 4 days after it was sent and immediately replied back. It was too late to interview at that time because all the slots had been filled. I was told I would be notified of the next session. So, three weeks later I received a phone call from the rep asking me to interview Friday. So, Friday comes and I go to the MAC pro store with my model to interview at noon. Because of a miscommunication I ended up at the wrong location. One of the artists at the pro store calls the regional rep and she asks to speak with me on the phone. She apologized about the confusion and told me that I was to come to the MAC office on Wacker Dr at 2. So, I arrived at 2 and there were 4 other girls there. We waited for a short time and then escorted to a big room full of products and SS2011 trends posted everywhere. The trainer was super nice. I mean she was the best ever!!! Her attitude and graciousness was amazing. She explained the MAC way of disinfecting and that she would be judging us on skill and product knowledge. Before we started, she annonced that we would not be working on the model we brought but the model to the right of our model. Big pause in the room....... So, we were given 30 minutes to make up our model and then we were critiqued and given 10 additional minutes to make adjustments. To make a long story short, you have to be ready for ANYTHING. You never know with MAC. Gotta stay on your toes. We are supposed to hear back from the regional rep on next Friday. I'm staying prayerful.

Hey everyone, I had a phone interview about 4 weeks ago, and then I interviewed with the store manager about a week after that. After that I was asked to bring in a model for the demo, which went okay (I think), the trainer told me that he would speak with the manager to let him know his thoughts and have them get back to me. Needless to say, I haven't heard a peep yet, so I'm still "Waiting to Exhale". I called and left a message with the manager on Sunday of this week, and he hasn't called me back yet, so I guess I'll give him a little more time to call me...

*sighs* but HOPEFUL...

I had recent interviews with MAC Regional Managers and they asked me questions on my selling and customer service technique: "What would you sell to a mother of 4?", "It's the end of the day and you haven't met your sales goal how would you encourage your customer to buy more products?", "How would you describe your body language as you approach your customer or client?", questions like this or in that aspect...hope that helped!

Sooooooooooooooooo....I got a call from the regional hiring manager today as promised if I passed my demo. I missed her call but she left a message saying I passed my makeup demo but there are currently no perm positions available in the city. She told me to give her a call on Tuesday when she would be back at the training facility to discuss freelancing. She said she would let me know when a perm position came up in the city. So I guess I'll be freelancing for now. So happy and excited!!! So grateful to God for the opportunity.

I really want to work for MAC (newbie here!) I would LOVE some advice & feedback! :)

Hey there!

I would really really love to work for Mac but as silly as it sounds I'm a bit intimidated, I went by the MAC counter not to long ago and the girls there looked on point and so confident in what they are doing. Am I the only one that feels like that? Has anyone ever had that feeling before?
anyone.gif
(maybe its just me lol)

Plus I'm a newbie, I don't have a license or anything like that. I've only done my own make up and my friends. I do have a strong background in art, I've painted for many years. But becoming a makeup artist is something that I've always felt I wanted to do, especially to work for MAC! I just love love love there products! I dont have a portfolio or anything like that, only regular pics of looks that I've done for competitions on youtube.

Should I stop by the mac counter and ask to speak to the manager? What should I ask or say? Should I dress a certain way? (I know lots of Q's) I would love some advice, tips or suggestions.

I posted some of the pictures I mention before and a pic of the makeup I did on a friend. I would really love your honest opinion. Please let me know what I need to improve on. There is always room for improvement! :)

Thank you!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to share my hiring experience/process... I'm quite familiar with the counter manager at my store and we were actually friends on fb before I got hired. I have another good friend who used to work at that counter and she told me to apply for freelance. So I went to get an application and found out that they were also hiring for a perm part time position in addition to the freelance position. So I told her that I wanted to do part time and an interview was scheduled. So during my interview she asked me why I wanted to work for Mac, how would I rate my skills from 1-10, what would I do in a situation in which I had multiple customers to help at the same time and I had to sell her something...good thing I had remembered the FABCE info that I read on here! I did pretty good and we scheduled a demo. Now about me...I have never freelanced for a company but I have done makeup on friends and family and I have a couple of other clients that I've done basic technique sessions with and some proms. So needless to say I was nervous about my demo!!!! I had to do it on a Saturday morning with a crowd and music pumping, I was sooooo nervous, but remembered to sanitize everything, explain the product to the customer, tell her why I was using those products and certain brushes and also show the customer how to do it on themselves and general conversation with the customer. I was given a day look to do in 30 minutes, I was done in 25. Then I had 15 minutes to do a night look. I typically I do eyeliner very well, but I had messed it up big time because I wasn't sure if I was able to touch my model's face and it turns out that you can, so after I explained that, she gave me an opportunity to fix it and I redeemed myself!! After that she critiqued my look and said I did very well, YAY!!! So I sent her a thank you letter and she called me in for another interview in which she offered me the perm part time position and said that she would love to have me on her team and here I am!! I'm in basic now and start at the counter next week. So for those who are hesitant to apply because they don't have any experience, I would apply anyway and just let your love for Mac and helpful nature show during your interview and during your demo.
