I agee with cantaffordmac i already can't afford the prices mac is charging for its new stuff. What makes them think i can afford there limited addition luxe collection. I skipped last years because it was so expensive i can not justify spending 22.50 on a lipstick, I can barely justify spending 14.00 on a lipstick. I am sorry i am ranting but why cant all mac collection just be the same price?

This is my first "unselfish" christmas as it's his FIRST christmas- and im mad excited to spend money on HIM-- I'll be kicking my own ass if I friggin spend that much money on LIPSTICK- pahleeze!

I look forward to see these, but not the prices for the UK.

If you say the lipsticks last year were $22 (£11) in the USA, that is the price for regular lipsticks here..

Ohhh but The Scene lipstick from last years Stylistics is soooo worth $22 IMO! Its not just the packaging that is more "couture"... the product itself is by far better than any regular MAC lipstick I own (in terms of texture, staying power, etc.)

Its the only "couture" MAC item I've ever bought though. So maybe I just got a lucky item

Judging by previous years collections, I don't think I'll be overly fussed on this one. Luxe to me suggests cream, champagne and gold silk or maybe deep red or purple velvet.

Well, the Couture collections cost significantly more to produce, so it makes sense that they would cost more. The casing is metal and embellished, which I'm sure is more expensive to produce than the usual plastic cases. (Plus they are different designs, it's not like the limited casings which are just different colored plastics in the same molds)

Also things like the powders really aren't that expensive when you factor in the fact that they come with refills.

I'm no good at talking people OUT of buying MAC... I'm only good at convincing them to buy it

^^Haha its okay -if it wasn't you, it'd be someone else.. or my own mind.. convincing me to buy it. *sigh*

I wonder if im going to look back on this in 30 years and think "did I really need all this makeup???"

Of course I'll be rich with a millionaire husband that i scored with my amazing good looks courteousy of my MAC...and the answer will of course be "yes!!"

Regular lipsticks here (in Australia) are US$29

You can see why so many of us buy from the US and pay hefty shipping...its often still cheaper!

I generally dislike the lipsticks and lipglass from these collections. They're too sheer and not special enough in my opinion. It's just MAC trying to be Chanel. =/ Ultra sheer and deluxe but not really.

I like the Mystery face powder ALOT. Deff get another of those. Probably one of the eyeshadow/highlighters whatever just for the novelty. Maybe a brush, maybe the clutch, idk.

Okay Im sorry if this has been asked, but:

What on earth is a mystery face powder? Like, is the shade called Mystery, or is it a mystery what color it will be? And what is it...like a blush, or a beauty powder....?

Im just so lost on that lol

This was the Mystery Powder description from last years collection -

"An ultra-fine, super-sheer and very sophisticated pressed powder. Mysteriously silky-soft in texture, it glides on to give the skin a velvety matte, slightly luminous and altogether flawless finish to the skin. Exclusive to the M·A·C Couture collection, it denotes its difference through its ultra-luxurious, black square compact with refill."

I don't have one but basically I believe it's an all over face powder for setting the makeup/mattifying the skin or to use in place of foundation to lightly even up the skintone when you don't have a lot of time. Gives that sort of airbrushed finish. I think last year it came in 4 shades such as light, medium etc. Definitely not a blush, similar to a beauty powder in that it sort of has a shimmer, but different as it has very little colour and is of a very fine velvet smooth texture due to the fact it's milled so many times over.

Lots of good reviews of MUA.

I'd say the mystery powder is closest to the blot powders in terms of permanent products, although it definitely seems a little heavier / less sheer / more coverage to me. (This could just be because my blot powder is closer to my natural complexion, though.)
