MAC - Nail Trend F/W '09 (Jin Soon Choi for MAC Nail Lacquers) Discussion

I picked up For Fun and Cool Reserve today. Cool Reserve is great, kinda reminds me of a grey/lilac colour Essie had a couple years ago, but this one is more wearable. For Fun is nice too, but reminded me of OPI's Pamplona Purple from their recent collection. I actually prefer the brush MAC uses though, because it's not as wide.

I am suprised that people aren't more excited about these. I have narrowed my list down to cool reserve and beyond jealous.

I just picked up Beyond Jealous and Dry Martini. These colours are GORGEOUS!!

I picked up Dry Martini and Rich Dark Delicious. My co worker was with me and she said I was crazy to buy 10ml nail polishes for $14.50 CND plus tax. I agreed the polishes are pricey but I just love Dry Martini ,and Rich Dark Delicious was so pretty on my nail when I tried it on. Cool Reserve is not like OPI Done out in Deco...Deco is much lighter and more of a milkly colour.

i picked up cool reserve, dry martini, rich dark delicious and beyond jealous. these are all freaking gorgeous. i can't wait to rock them. i had kinda forgotten how small these were [10 ml v. the traditional 15 ml]. so that was a little upsetting, esp. with the $1 price increase. i don't believe the colors [well, the ones i picked] are that dupable. i've viewed 1000s of swatches and seen tonnes of nail polishes in real life. there are similar ones of course, but not dupes. super happy with my purchases. bring on the style black n/p, i hope those deliver also.

those are the ones i want too! but i only got dry martini and beyond jealous. i went to find similar colours in trade secret and somehow ended up with 6 bottles of OPI *hangs head in shame*

I think I am going to return my unused rich, dark, del. I purchased that and dry martini. I did a mani last night...used base and top coat and it was already chipped after I took my shower this am.
Not happy.
I can't return the one I have used can I?

oh, and in case if anyone's wondering, no, i didn't find dupes in OPI. although the red is very similar to one of the reds from the spanish collection
rich dark delicious is darker and more chocolate-y than you do know jacques.
i tried to take swatch pictures, but colours looked all weird with flash, so i'll try again tomorrow

Not sure where you live, but in Canada you can, and I think in the U.S. as well.

I picked up Cool Reserve, For Fun, Dry Martini, and Beyond Jealous, as well as the base coat/underlacquer, very excited!!

And it's crazy, I picked up the last bottle of Dry Martini at the counter I was at and it was only 3 in the afternoon!

I ended up skipping this..way more excited for the nail lacquers coming out with Style Black and the pink lacquer coming out with the holiday collection.

I went down to my CC and tried on Dry Martini, Beyond Jealous, Rich Dark and one that was still out from Style Warrior which is a bronzy shimmer.

Bought the Rich Dark and the Style Warrior, oh, it was called Mercenary. I like those. I was surprised but the Dry Martini didn't look so good. Made my NC 25 self look too yellow. I was bummed cause I liked that, but then the price is truly ridiculous.

I am glad that none of the upcoming collection are too exciting for me. My pocketbook is empty after Makeup Art Cosmetics and discovering Sephora. Oh, and did I mention the order I have planned for Illamasqua as soon as September 1 comes around.

I picked up Dry Martini today. It's the only one that caught my eye initially and the only one that's kept my attention since. My freestanding store was out of it already! by the time I got there, but luckily we also have a counter in this mall that carries MAC and they had a few bottles left.

I have to say it's not what I was expecting at all. I thought (especially based on the swatch from AllLacqueredUp) that it was going to be an olive-y, khaki. Instead it veers much more brown. I am willing to concede that this might look different in daylight, not under MAC lights, so I am waiting until tomorrow to get a proper assessment.

I think the price point for this polish is ridiculous though. I have never bought a MAC polish - the only one I own was a gift (I think in a holiday set as it's smaller than this?) that my mom was given and that she didn't wear. $14.50CDN for a polish that size is brutal! If it weren't for the fact that I think this shade is unique, MAC wouldn't have gotten my money for this. I love my MAC and can abide by their prices - most of the time - but for nail polish it's a bit much.

This collection launched today in Singapore as well.
I've got Dry ( dirty

) Martini and Beyond Jelaous which is darker than I thought.
I tried them and I like the consistency they are not streaky at all.
I also liked Cool Reserve and Rich, Dark, Delicious I think I'll get them later!
I liked also the other colours even if they are more conventional colours.
