It is fun to have so many other MAC lovers. BTW is Specktra being really slow for anyone else today. I know that is off topic but wow my computer is being slow!

I agree! I am loving Shore Leave. It was the only shadow I knew for sure that I was getting and it has exceeded my expectations. It is perfect in every way! I definately want a backup!

Although blue is my favorite color I'm disappointed in this collection. I was anticipating to pick up most of the collection but I passed on the majority. I only got: pandamonium, illegal cargo, meet the fleet, and submarine. The lippies didn't show up on my pigmented lips. Sad.......

When I got home I checked to see if I had something dupeable and I think pandamonium could be duped by Charred. I could be wrong but when I swatched it's pretty similar to each other. Now I'm debating on returning it because Pandamonium seems kinda chunky to me. What do y'all think?

Personally, I'd return Pandamonium. They are VERY similar, and Charred has a better texture. Pandamonium is a lustre, and they are notorious for being flakey and chunky. They look nearly identical in the picture you took

Bateaux l/g is REALLY pretty. I wore it today and it actually makes a weird kinda nude lip on me. I am thinking about getting a backup but I'm not sure yet.

Shore leave is so pretty and Illegal Cargo. Man, I just love frosts and Veluxe pearls. Sometimes, I will get an eyeshadow just because it's Veluxe Pearl, regardless of the color. (crazy, huh?) MAC has been listening to me, well all of us, really.

Yeah, I totally agree. You can exchange it for a color you don't already have a dupe for, or save the money for an upcoming collection!

I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but OMG I LOOOOOOOOVE SHORE LEAVE!!! I am getting backups (yes, multiple) for sure. I have NEVER had a highlighter that I love as much as SL. It's a HG.

Mutiny looked retarded on me.

I don't think I can pull off blues for some reason, even with my brown eyes. Wah! Or maybe it's a psychological thing? Lovely Lily is definitely lovely though. They are my first pigments and I can't believe I've never tried them (pigments) before!! I need more!

The first time I looked at Illegal Cargo I thought it looked dirty like another poster said, but I picked it up anyway... and I am pleasantly surprised. I am happy I got it! It's a purple Neutral Pink.

Ensign seems kinda blah to me and the brush had frayed bristles. Not impressed. I like Hey Sailor better.

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

Alright, I need to join in the love on this thread today! I too find myself coming on here more and more! I have been a MAC addict since the early 90's, but only found Specktra late last year. It's been so great to chat with those who understand and share my excitement for all things MAC!

At any rate, I still cannot believe just how much I love this collection! I just love the blues in particular and I don't normally gravitate towards blues!

Elegant-one, I bought my first pigment last fall, and now have about 15 of them! They're an addiction on their own. I almost always use mine dry over the Art-deco eyeshadow base or a paint pot. I will admit though, that I don't generally use them if I'm super-rushed. If you do start on them, you definitely need Vanilla!

Yep, guilty here too! I love Veluxe Pearl and Frost finish eyeshadows. The finish really determines alot for me. Even if I love the color, if the finish is a Lustre, I pass without a second thought. Thankfully, MAC is listening, because that finish has been few and far between lately and I couldn't be happier!

Well I got some giftcards for my birthday so to use them, I was trying to decide what to get...the only NN item I walked away with was Lark About. I don't care what anyone else says, I LOVE IT! Kalico...you've joined our ranks (heh). Pigments are amazing, it's too bad that a lot of people don't have access to them most of the time. They were actually one of the first things I got from MAC (back in January...and now I have 8 of them).

I completely spazzed though and forgot to get Party Mate, Hey Sailor, and more Port Red...

Figure though since I am going to be going crazy for Cool Heat, Lark About would be the best way to go. I also am trying to get ones that go really well with Luring (from Lancome) which is pretty but I rarely ever use it, and it is quite nice. I love the sky blue undertone with it...if only I had more little cups I would try mixing it with Aire-de-Blu.

I am really loving Lark About too! I thought it would be my least favorite of the 3 that I got, but it falls a close second to Mutiny. I know they are similar, but I like it alot more than Frozen White. I am glad that I got this one

lol, I love your reaction!

Not to be a pest, but could someone pleeeeaaaassseee note the difference between Shore Leave and Phloof? Besides the textures, unless that makes a huge difference.

Another question: If you could only pick 2 out of this list, which would you choose? I can't afford to get all three!

Meet the Fleet
Illegal Cargo
Shore Leave

TIA!

And I forgot to mention that I don't like Port Red.
It's pretty but not my kind of red.
It showed up pretty orangey on me. So I passed. I'm NC30 btw.

making samples is a location policy. your location may not do samples anymore. some places won't do them if customers/employees take advantage of them. some custies come in repeatedly and ask for samples of lots of stuff, and never buy. or, employees may load up a sample cup for custies that don't wanna buy, instead of giving them A SAMPLE. like with pigments, a sample would be one spatula full, giving you atleast 10 uses if not more. instead, an employee may fill the whole thing up, which defeats the purpose of a sample.

its at the discretion of your location whether they do samples or not, and its unfortunate that yours no longer does. but, like someone posted, you can order samples thru the #800 (don't know the cost of that), or get them from people on here.

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

Shore Leave and Love Knot are all that I picked up from this collection today (along with a Dazzleglass and nine eyeshadow refills..oy vey), and I'm so happy with both products!! Love Knot is fuchsia on me, which is a little bolder then anything I'd usually wear..but the blue reflects are so gorgeous, and I love the vinyl looking shine it gives off. Shore Leave is NOT the color I was expecting, but I love it. Can't wait to wear it tomorrow

Thanks Audrey! I keep waffling between Shore Leave and Illegal Cargo.... SL for its texture and shade (tho I wish it was less frosty) and IC for how it pairs with the blues... the "bleed" of colour from Mutiny or BBB to IC makes me drool every time!

I know, they are all great shades. Let me warn you though - Shore Leave is WAY frosty, so if that is something you don't care for, I'd choose the other two. SL really does brighten up the eye area, and on me, makes me look more awake. I am contemplating a backup of SL, but now that I saw the Cool Heat swatches, I am rethinking that. So much great stuff, and so little money... *sigh* The sob story of a MAC addict...

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

I saw Naughty Nauticals today! Shore Leave is identical to Gingersoft from the Olive Trend Holiday 2005 palette. Illegal Cargo is very close to Shale, Flirty Number, Innuendo and Pearl of the Earth(Olive 2005 Trend). Meet the Fleet is just a shade more purple than Grey Grape from the 2005 Magenta Cool Holiday palette.

If anyone remembers L'Oreal's Sea Lily lipstick from the 80s, Love Knot is a lustreglass version of this shade! HTHS!
