MAC - Starflash Discussion

BunnyBunnyBunny was super awesome the other day and gave me a sneak peek of a few of the shadows. I must say, they're all GORGEOUS, I may have to buy one of every color. They all swatched beautifully, the texture is smooth and super pigmented, and the colors.. the colors!! I think the ones that stood out the most to me where smoke & diamonds and the dark purple that I don't know the name of. BunnyBunnyBunny pointed out that the dark purple looks just like the Metal-X shadow (Plum Electric I wanna say?) that came out last year. BE EXCITED

These days I get excited if I don’t like a collection more than if I like it
winks.gif
I’m just spending way too much on MAC I don’t even get to enjoy my stuff anymore
cry.gif
,I barely used my NN pigments, then I started to make some looks with Cool Heat, now I’m using the MES

(some Cool Heat E/S are still untouched!!

Is it me or is MAC going crazy this year with all these collection
th_confused_new.gif
I mean I’ve been using MAC for over 8 years now, but not an addict like this year so I’m not sure have they always came out with so many collection in a short time but I haven’t noticed because I wasn’t really following their collections (I've only discovered Specktra on 2007) or is this year really different??

Sorry for the vent, I guess I just needed to get it out of my system with people that I think will understand my situation

If anyone posted this already, but Smoke and Diamonds is featured in INStyle with Christina Aguilera, saying that she loves MAC e/s. It is the cover with Rihanna. I go straight to the beauty part of all my mags, however, I'm not big on loving stars, but I love when they talk makeup and love the stuff I love.

I tried to read all the discussion (20 pages), but could not find anything about this finish, so wanted to pass along what my MA told me today. She said that the finish is "water resistant". Mind you, not waterproof, but resistant. She said she did a swatch, washed her hands with plain water, and the swatch was still there. Anyone else heard this or tried this? Odd name if it's water resistant...what does Starflash have to do with that. At first I though the collection name was Starfish...that would have been better - ha! Not sure if this is real, but interesting nontheless. Can't wait to take my B2M in and try some out...I am thinking Grand Entrance, Bold & Brazen, Go, Smoke & Diamonds, and Star by Night...maybe Talent Pool too. But then I always change my mind once I see them in person.

either you or your MA got confused, cause this isn't true about the shadows. this is true with the pearlglide eyeliners from suite array, but not the starflash shadows. the starflash shadows are a new finish, but the finish doesn't have a name. they are long-wearing, non-flaking, and crease- and fade-proof.

I would agree with you that Mac does have alot of LE collections. If you are new to the brand this is good because you most likely don't have similar colors, if you've been shopping Mac for a while the downside is you may have similar/same colors.

I guess if you feel like you are spending too much on Mac, don't like the colors in a collection, or feel that you won't use something then don't buy it.

I'm trying not to read this thread because eyeshadows are my downfall!!! I am going to wait until they are released and then only buy 1.

Thanks for clearing that up! I thought it was unlikely and knew that someone here would know. They do still sound like they will wear well, which is always great. Though now I am really excited about Suite Array!

There are more this year, and maybe last year, that in years before. Since I have been "collecting" since 2000, I don't get much from the collections. Neo Sci Fi, I got nothing, and Naughty Nauticals, I got only the pigments. I figure if I can dup the colors for the looks, I don't "really" need them. Sometimes this thought process works...

How, oh how, can I downsize my list? Single eyeshadows are by far my vice when it comes to MAC. And with a new finish?! I'm lovin' the sound of these. I will definitely be picking up Lotusland & Top Hat... but I'm not sure where to start in crossing the others off my list. Guess I'll have to wait to swatch in person...

The finish is actually "Starflash".

Ok I have a few questions for Erine, Bunny, Violet, or anyone else who has seen this collection (and Suite Array)...

If you had to choose either Lotusland and Top Hat from Starflash or the Team Violets Duo from Suite Array, which would you choose?

And is Lotusland a pinky purple like Creme de Violet?

Is Top Hat anything like Thunder from Blue Storm or the dark blue/purple from the Holiday 2007 Cool Eyes Palette?

Is Mink and Sable anything like Nighlight Pigment?

TIA!
