MAC - Starflash Discussion

My Starflash haul...Go, Smoke & Diamonds, Grand Entrance, and DreamMaker. I didn't get a chance to wear them but I did swatch them. My initial thoughts...

- With the exception of Smoke & Diamonds, which is gorgeous and will make for a great smokey eye, these are dupable

- The texture is very nice BUT Dreammaker doesn't feel the same as the others. It reminds me more a lustre. I'm going to try it tomorrow and I may exchange this for Mine & Sable if it doesn't wow me.

- Grand Entrance. Nice but very frosty. This reminds me of 'Relaxing' from one of the collections a few years ago.

- IMO, the only must have is Smoke & Diamonds.

I think Top Hat is a more interesting colour than Star by Night. But maybe you can swatch it against Deep Truth when you are going to pick them up.
Just from the swatches and the descriptions it does not look sooo unique to me.
Maybe the texture will sway you

I didn't see this answered so I'll put in my two cents, although I haven't seen the collection irl yet. They're quite different. Both are taupe-y but MF is more brown with silver sparkles and S&D is more grey with a pearly sheen. I believe that generally MF is darker as well. HTH!

I loved going to the MAC site yesterday morning, and seeing the word "Loading ..." and knowing that Starflash was going to come up!

I'm new to the forum -

I got mine this past Saturday and haven't put them down - my faves are Smoke & Diamonds and Sunset B. I've also put Glamour Check to very good use, along with Go for another smoky eye option. I like Top Hat much more than Fertile - the texture is easier for me to work with. Haven't used Lotusland yet, but that's planned for tomorrow.

As much as I wear taupe eyeshadows, having a brownish taupe and a more grey taupe makes perfect sense!
I'm hoping that S&D will be essentially a pearly French Grey.

I listed the 3 of the 4 I got, cuz I was drawin a blank and forgot the last one, which happens to be GO. OMG.. LOVE LOVE LOVE these colors BIG TIME..

Order arrived today. I just opened it up a little while ago. These colors are all great and versatile. I guess if you've been using Mac for a while I could see how you might not be wowed by these, but since I'm pretty new, I will definitly get good use out of all of these. My faves so far are Grand Entrance, Glamour Check, Top Hat, Bold and Brazen, and Go. These do have a nice and creamy texture. I kind of wish I got Lotusland and Sunset B, but I'm not sure about that pink and I already have Viz a Violet which someone compared Lotusland too. I guess I'll stick to my plan not to buy more till October. (Course if I try out Orpheus and love it I might have to get a second color in the kohl powers, we'll see)...

Orpheus, Feline and Raven are my favorite e/l colors - I bought 2 of each this time around....my MA said that they will keep bringing them back, but I don't want to take any chances. Mystery is a good one too, but the others are virtually the only ones I use anymore.

My package won't be here until Monday. =( That's okay I wouldn't be able to make it to the store until next week anyway.

I realized though, I'm going to need a new palette for these as mine are full right now!! Oh how I wish we could order those online! Oh well, more excuses to go to the store next week and B2M for more shadows. =P

Ughhh I am so excited to use these I wish they were arriving Friday instead! =(

Wow, fast shipping! I ordered late yesterday and I got a shipping notification today, that it should be delivered Friday. Yay! I'm really looking forward to playing with my new makeup, I'm hoping the liners especially work well for me.

I went to the Pro Store in NYC today and got my Starflash fix and OMGGGG these are more gorgeous than I expected. The only one that I didnt like the texture of was the pink one. Maybe the one in the store was defective or something but it wasnt like the others at all it was very chalky. Smoke & Diamonds is already SOLD OUT at the NYC Pro store and the collection hasnt even officially launched yet! I am completely in love wtih Grand Enterance. It is amazingly pigmented. Its very frosty. I also love talent pool but its an exact dupe for Parrot. A slight more greener shimmer to it but honestly if you have parrot you dont need both. i wish i realized that i nthe store but they didnt have parrot to swatch next to it. sumptuous olive and mink&sable are exact dupes. i put both next to each other on my hand and asked a few people around me (all makeup artists) if they can tell which is which and they couldnt! Glamour check is GORGEOUS!!! Top Hat GORGEOUS!!!! i find the purple in the heatherette trio is hard to blend but this one is very blendable and a different purple color. the finish really shows on this one. Go is pretty too. I bought all of the shadows except that pink one i forget the name, mink & sable, and the blue one. the blue one is pretty but not stunning and totally dupeable. i am going to order smoke & diamonds from the website cause it was sold out. i also got all 4 power khols and they are all gorgeous, especially mystery and feline. i think im gonna get at least 2 more felines cause OMG is the blackest black!!! i just did a cat eye with it and its perfect. i can tell i will use this all the time and run out so this one is good to get a backup of! i didnt think i was going to get so much but it was very hard to say no. in my opinion its better than all the other collections out this year. once i get my pro card i am getting dupes of glamour check, top hat, and grand enterance cause i can see incorporating them in everyday looks and they are gorgeous.

now im really excited about going tomorow to get my stuff after reading every1's review i think i might skip out on star and night (the blue e/s) I cant believe how fast these e/s are sellin out usually its like weeks before they sell out.

Thanks VitaBella!! Ah, now you are making me want Grand Entrance and Glamour Check as well, and I haven't even received the ones I ordered yet! lol

I'm really wanting Bold & Brazen too, even though these are all more neutral-y colors and I hardly wear those. Plussss they each have pretty close dupes. I just can't control myself, jeez....
