Re: MAC - Venomous Villains discussion
i'm so sleepy but here's what i have to say about the lippies:
Dark Deed: This one hits right between Cunning and Kittenish, as far as darkness and warmness goes. If Cunning was too cool, but Kittenish was too brown, DD is the lipstick for you.
Heartless: Hmm, having a tough time deciding about this one, since I didn't try it on my lips. It's a little bluish, but only just a touch. My gut feeling is telling me this one is going to look the most exciting on medium to darker skin, while on fairer skin it will look glamorous, but more mainstream and less bright. I didn't pre-order it, but I might eventually grab it if it's still around and there's nothing better for me in Stylishly Yours/Red Twins.
Innocence, Beware: This looked really nice, gentler and more nudey than a lot of the light pinks we've seen from MAC this year. For the right coloring, this could be the perfect nude pink, I'd say for blue or hazel eyed blondes with warmer skin tone. Like Heartless, this one could be jazzed up with a gloss over it, especially for skin tones that aren't a perfect match for them.
Toxic Tale:
this one wasn't in yet. My MA remembers it from her seminar and felt like this was going to be the best one for me (NC15) and I already felt that too, since coral/orange overtones really stand out on me - the oranger the better, usually. I was wearing Jazzed over Temperature Rising today and I have a feeling TT is going to be similar to that - in other words, hot beyond all belief. It better be eye-searingly bright to satisfy me, but I pre-ordered it sight unseen, because I believe!
OK gotta crash, but I've got to tell about Bite of an Apple = brighter and less pink than Hipness, but still closer to it than to the dark part of Marine Life. Let's put it this way....I took one look at it, put a little on my finger and then insta-bought it. No need to go further than that for me. Definitely buildable- it won't be hard to control application for fair skin since it's really finely milled - seems like it should be easier to control and apply than Marine Life. It's going to give more of a glowing type of color than ML, which gives more of a flush than a glow, if that makes sense.
The pink in Hipness helped me to resist it, but there was no resisting this one for me, but I love ML and wear it all the time and BoaA kicks it up another notch. It's just a couple of steps below neon and has a perfect warm/cool balance for such a bright color - every skin tone will be able to pull this one off...all it will take is a little bit of a daring spirit.
Seriously, the evil queen color story is by far the most unified - Vile Violet on the eyes, BoaA on the cheeks and Toxic Tale on the lips, with maybe a 'lil OSF to finish things will be THE glamorous look to wear with sexy black suits and dresses this Fall.
