MAC - Venomous Villains Discussion

Re: MAC - Venomous Villains discussion

A question came to mind in light of the number of people who've described Toxic Tale as almost neon. For those of you who have seen it, how similar is it to Neon Orange from the pro line? I have that and I really like it, but I don't wear it often enough to justify a dupe.

The OCD part of me would like to get at least one of each thing from each villain, but I need to be realistic about whether or not it's worth it to get something if I already have a close match.

Dark Deed is so pretty but it looks really dark on temptalia, so it may look pretty harsh on NC15. Maybe if I dabbed it on lightly it may be like a stain.

Vile Violet is pretty interesting - it wasn't quite as blue-toned as I was hoping but it's certainly a one stop matte purple smokey eye. I've had colors like this that I used to use to death, but a long time ago, when I think about it....for younger gals than me, it's going to seem more new than it does to old, retro me. 'Most interesting of the shadows to me, but if you're getting My Dark Magic, the purple half applied dry might be enough purple for your needs. Personally, I'm keeping VV on the back burner for an impulse buy, rather than putting in my must-have desperation haul hehe.

I'm NC15 with red pigmented lips and Cunning is my dark lip favorite this year, but I wanted something cool toned. DD is warmer than Cunning and not quite as dark. I only swatched it on my hand - it'll be one that looks different on the lips, but you could certainly wear it as a stain. Even without blotting, the texture isn't super dense...it wouldn't look as stark in person compared to in the photos from Temptalia with their photographic lighting. I think it'd be fine for NC15 if you don't need an obviously cool color. It's definitely a modern look.

My sister is hoping that I have a girl so she can buy her nothing but dolls and have me get over my phobia.

If that's the case...I'm donating all of them.

Was it the movie that all these people get stranded at this older couples house? I love scary movies they are my thing but if you are talking about the movie I am thinking about yeah that and the first chucky were the first movies that scared the hell out of me as a kid lol- I re watched them as an adult and find them funny now.

YES getting MDM is making me just skip on Push the Edge. It is THAT purple in the collection. I feel like its dark, but I can work MUFE #92 in it for some brightness. Or maybe MUFE #58 (bright fuchsia pink) Might as well pass as She who Dares is creeping back on my radar again anyhow. MDM is smooth and rich. I think Vile Violet is just too flat for anything dramatic. This time of year with the holidays and parties is all about the drama for me.

Cunning is my favorite lip from MAC this year. For a long time in fact. I always find myself finding treasures from the CCO. This is the first time I adored a current collection color. I hope to haul a 3rd one soon.

Dark Deed is buildable with a brush too. A little at a time to get the color you want. Anyone can work it.

That's the one! I actually saw this for the first time a couple of years ago. My bf and I get kind of Halloween crazy and watch all sorts of corny/ creepy old horror movies during the month of October. This one was a camp classic. Starring the chick from A-ha's "Take on Me" video (for those old enough to remember that one).

Thanks for clearing that up... So what you're saying is, I shouldn't cut TT off my list, which means I'm adding to the list on an almost daily basis and I'm not cutting anything off...

Hi All! I've been lurking for a while but this is my first post on Specktra-yay! Anyway, I'm very excited for this collection. Quick question-- does anyone know how Toxic Tale compares to Coral Polyp from the Dame Edna collection? Thx!

I'm definitely getting Strange Potion and Revenge is Sweet lipglasses. Thinking about Bite of An Apple blush and *maybe* Briar Rose Beauty Powder, although its so expensive!

That sounds familiar to me too. I remember something about a freaky man though making the women look like dolls then torturing them? The house was in the old west or something and he had dolls all over the place and I think ran an antique shop??

Yes, that was the one! It such a cheese-tastic D movie! I saw it again a couple years ago and it was so corny, but the dolls still freaked me out. I was definitely not a fan of the Chuckie films and another one called Dolly Dearest. But I did love the makeup on Jennifer Tilly's doll in Bride of Chucky- she rocked it!
