Re: MAC - Venomous Villains discussion
I haven't had much time to post the last 2 days, but I think my hauling of this collection is done. I'll post more thoughts on individual products as I use them...these are just some initial thoughts:
BOA - Pretty - although, honestly not quiet as WOW, BANG in color as I thought it would be. I wore it today (brushed on the apples of my cheeks with a Laura Mercier brush) and it really gives that just-in-from-the-cold look. I like that it is more corally-redish than pink, it just suits my complexion a little better and makes just a little bit different from a standard bright pink blush.
Darkly My Dear - I really love this blush, I posted about it earlier, but I think it will work beautifully on so many different skin colors. I think it will be a sleeper product from the collection. One that people don’t expect to love, but once they try it, will love it.
All three BP’s - the only one I’ve actually tried on my face yet was OSF - which was more pigmented than I thought it would be. I dusted it on last night as a touch up to whatever I was wearing from earlier that day and the pink really showed with just a quick sweep. I usually prefer more coral toned blushes on my skintone, since I naturally have pink undertones, but I think this will be really pretty. I was surprised at the color payoff. it makes me a little scared to use BR. I’ll have to use a 188 I think to make sure I don’t over do it.
Toxic Tale - Haven’t tried it yet, but I think it with the **dab and smoosh**, it’ll be a great pop of color. I don’t have anything like it, no Coral Polyp, no Neon Orange, no Morange, so this is my first venture into this sort of color. My MA assured me that it would look good...and she knows my tastes pretty well, so we’ll see.....I think it will be great when I want a bolder lip without going for the usual fuchsia or red. Speaking of red...I did not buy Heartless. Although it looks like a solid, red, I hardly ever do a full blown red lip and I really like Resolutely Red from some earlier LE MAC collection for a red lip. So I passed, but this was a nice red and perfect for the Cruella Villain.
Innocence Beware - I bought 3 of these. And LOVE it. It is a great nude-pink for me - so flattering and wearable. I have worn this non-stop the last two days. I wore it with a dab of an old lipglass from BBR (Live and Dye, I think) and it was beautiful.
Bad Fairy - haven’t tried it yet, but it looks gorgeous in the bottle. Actually all of them do, but I don’t often paint my nails and if I do, it is in much more traditional reds and pinks and neutrals, so this is a little wild for me. Although I don’t have the Orly dupes for the others, I decided to pass and let those who would actually wear them get a chance to buy them. I would just look at the pretty polish in the bottle. LOL!
Strange Potion - haven’t tried yet. I am not the hugest fan of lipglass, but this one did look like a pretty coral.
Revenge is Sweet - haven’t tried on my lips, but I love that this is a sheer gloss. Looks like a pretty raspberry color, I have naturally pigmented lips though, so I’m not sure how much color this will actually give. I’ll write more on this in a later post.
She Who Dares MES - I too, bought it for that green....I was worried that it would look like the green from the Urban Decay Black palette, but they are nothing alike. The MES has it all over the UD one in sparkle and bling and prettiness and actually flashing as *green*. I think I can rock this little MES duo on date night with the hubby.
I already have Hot House, Resort Life , Violetta, Melon and Brash & Bold.
I skipped all the individual e/s and the purpley MES and the GPS.
Sinister actually looked okay in the store - there seemed to be some fine pink shimmer in it. I think it will be around for awhile though, so if I think about too long, I’ll go take another look.
I played with the liquid powder things, but the pale one seemed to match my skin a little too much and didn’t seem to really give it any sort of highlighted effect...? It felt really neat going on, but I didn’t notice a difference as to the appearance of my skin? In fact on a couple of dry areas on my face, the powder seemed to cling and not blend in very well. I dunno. Maybe it was just me. If this becomes a perm product maybe I’ll check it out again, but it was a skip for me.
Hmm...I feel like I am missing some things. I really do like this collection though. I think the theme of Disney Villains is classic MAC and I love the thought put into the colors and products for each character. I do think that there are some really great, special, unique things in this one. I’ll fill in the gaps in later posts about some of the other things, but I’m a happy girly right now. I love reading what combos and looks you guys are coming up with and I love hearing what everyone thinks and the chaos or lack of it at the counters.
