Re: MAC - Venomous Villains discussion
Ok here's my review/recap of yesterday and it may be long
I had a 3:30 appt and got to the counter 10 minutes early or so and the place was packed. They had 4 people working and all of them were busy. Two were doing makeup and two were waiting on customers. I had to wait 10 minutes just to tell them I was there for my appt. I couldnt get to the VV display because there were too many people so I just waited by the l/s display. Finally I got to tell the one guy I was there for the 3:30 appt and he told me I could sit in one of the chairs and wait for Nicole so I sat down beside her and watched her finish up on someone. I thought the girl was like 13 she was working on and come to find out later she had to be at least 18 for the place she said she worked at! She did a nice look on her using a whitish perm shadow (dont know what is was) on the brow then Alter her image on the outer 2/3 and Vile Violet on the corner with a nice medium wing liner. She also used a tiny tiny bit of Bite of An Apple on her and IB l/g and I think Resort Life. She looked really pretty.
So then she got to me and I told her I wanted something bold as I never do plain light colors. I also told her I wanted to try Heartless since so many here said it was pretty and I've NEVER worn a red lip!! So she set forth with some ideas and came back with products. She ended up using Sweet Joy on the brow bone and lid then De-Vil on the outer third and up on the brow with Carbon on the corner. She did a tiny wing and lined the bottom lash line with Carbon. Oh and she used Haute & Naughy mascara too. I wanted to try the Cooling powder but then forgot after I got to talking to her while she was doing the makeup. She used Bronzing powder for contour and Bite of An Apple on my apples
Then came the lippie. She used I think that erase stuff and lined with Burgandy and put the Heartless on with IB on top to tone it down and told me to look in the full mirror and eeks it looked "ok" but man was it BRIGHT! I wasnt really sure I liked it.....looked too orange for my skin and somewhat "off". I asked her what her honest opinion was and she said she thought it looked nice but wasnt sure I really liked it. Two ladies standing near us watching another m/a said it looked really nice on me but still I wasnt sure so Nicole said she'd try another red since I really wanted a red l/s to take home. She said she'd try a more blue based red which I thought wouldnt look right given I cant pull off cool colors well. She used the new Pro Longwear color "Prolong" and when I looked in the mirror I really liked it! IT was so much nicer on me then Heartless. I liked how the liner is slightly darker....she used Burgandy again as I've seen some of you gals do that too
.
I really liked how Bite of An Apple looked but couldnt afford it so hopefully I can get it later or something similar. So what I came home with was just the She Who Dares MES from the collection and bought the Burgandy Liner, Haute & Naughty mascara and Prolong l/s. I spent more then I planned but they were things I have nothing like and I was just about out of mascara as I just had a sample of Zoom and it was about time to toss it.
I finally got to see the other items from the collection when I was waiting to pay and I looked at TT and just as I thought it looked ghastly on me. Just reminded me of some cheap l/s from the 70's! Not the color for me. Strange Potion looked similar to it but not as bright. The GPS was gone and so was Violetta and a couple other things Nicole named as sold out. There wasnt even a sample of Violetta or the GPS. I did like De-Vil but its so close to Coppering and Brash from the Spiced Choco both of which I have so no need to buy it. I have carbon as well but maybe could make something like Sweet Joy???. THey still had all the nail polishes btw. Oh and the Darkly My Dear looks alot like a blush I have of MAC's but slightly darker. I cant for the life of me remember the name and it's depotted
If the name ever comes to me I'll post it up.
Oh Nicole had a nice look of purples and I really liked her lippies which was Night Moth Liner and Violetta.
One more thing to add. The last time she did my m/u she used the new Studio Sculpt foundation but used Strobe Cream underneath. I liked how it looked but after about 3 hours I was all greasy looking. This time she used both of them again and when I left I went to just wipe by the bridge of my nose near my eye and it was all greasy and felt almost wet....like lotion was just put on. Other areas of my face felt that way but not all. About 2 hours later I was totally greasy looking again and I blotted my cheeks with some t/p and alot of foundation came right off! I dont know if it's the Strobe cream that's causing that or the foundation
. I dont use MAC's foundation because the color is slightly yellow on me anyway but still I'd like to know which was the issue or was it maybe both.
