I AM sorta wondering if they're trying to get 5-year-olds to run into the store and grab stuff or something though. I'm just imagining a family walking through Macy's and then suddenly someone runs over to the MAC counter, saying "Mommy, look, it's Cruella!" or something...

But then that will give other people a chance to own limited edition products that they may have not have been able to obtain before. I've never gotten a single limited edition product with or without special packaging from any collection ever mainly because its either been sold out by the time I was able to find a way to the mall or because I didn't have the money for it. I had to miss out on pretty much all the good stuff I've wanted like Lavender Whip for example because people would walk away with 3 of each product so if MAC wants to throw in some re-promotes so that its not 5 years until we see a certain product on the market again, I'm for it. I may not want some of the re-promotes advertised but whose to say someone else won't want them? There's still plenty of new stuff to look forward to.

When something will disappear in 1 day off the website or fly out of the stores, like Bite of an Apple, suddenly there will be plenty of people who will be happy to flaunt their packaging in public

I am excited about that GPS in Facilier's collection now that I think about it. I didn't get Green grease. I hope this new one is more pigmented or has a bigger WOW factor. I really want to see the green in it.

I agree, it's too soon when it took like 5 years to re-promote Stereo Rose? I think it would be better to re-promote things that have been either never out or not been out in years. I think it's stupid to repromote 'Later' for Tartan Tale when it's not even been out once yet!

it's ridiculous eh! to me, repromoting things so quickly is just lazy. it's almost like they cobbled the collection together in a hurry and chucked it in the update book. i can see why you'd include repromotes if they really fitted the collection, or were outstanding colours but some of the ones in this collection [not just repromotes] look fairly easily dupable

I actually really like the packaging. They look the way they did when they were created, it's classic Disney. However I am a Disney fan and I'm not of the opinion that Disney is only for children. I think a lot of the products sound good too. I am really excited about this collection. I don't feel dissapointed in the least.

Do you have a link to the mirror?

ITA. Take Free to Be eyeshadow for example, after it's intial launch, it was part of LOL and now it's going to be in an upcoming collection. The name of that collection escapes me right now. It'll have been promoted 3 times in the space of about a year. Instead huge collections with repromotes, I'd rather see a smaller collections with really quality, original products.

No. I said I'm skipping the mirror due to the packaging that I've already seen. It can't be much different, so no thanks.

I think the reason for some of the repromotes so soon is that they produced too much in the original batch, and it's just easier to divide it up among a couple of collections and create that, "OMG, super LE" status, where if it sells out the first time, there will be a run on it the second time from those who missed out. Guarantees double sell-outs and they never have to sell the leftovers at a discount.

I agree that I'm a little more hesitant about this collection after seeing the packaging. Before I saw it, I was very eager to get almost all of the collection. Now, I'm definitely playing far more of a wait-and-see approach.

I think the reason for the repromotes could also be.....money. It's possible it cost more to make a new color so they just keep putting the same ones back but why bother I say. Like Winkle, Aqua, etc that will be in Dare To Wear. Why put a current e/s in a new collection?

Sort of - only US and website. Repromoting it in Tartan Tale will give international girls a chance to get it without a CP.

I do agree though - it is pretty silly to repro the pigments from Makeup Art Cosmetics already.

If you don't already work in marketing or production management, you probably should! Verrrrrrry clever......

i like seeing new things, but i do think that mac SHOULD be doing this-from a business perspective (which is am certainly no expert on!). not only to let people get a grab at it the next go round, but after visiting 4 cco's this past week i saw SO much LE stuff on the shelves that i read about people here wishing they had. (not to mention seeing it for crazy prices on ebay). i've seen the entire style warriors collection sitting at one cco store, not to mention all the extras in the others. that is a LOT of discounted product, which is good for us cco'ers...but i can't imagine that is where MAC wanted it to end up.

I think the name of the game is indeed money and they are doing the best they can to keep churning out collections while maintaining a profit in a downturned economy. Also manufacturing requires a minimum order quantity in order to turn a profit. They have to buy X amount and yes I am sure there are left overs so they pop it in a different package later one down the line. Personally I'd be happier with less collections with more innovation and new items then excess repromotes and wave after wave of large collections. Consumers are fickle and quick to forget so I get why they feel they have to do it.
