And Uzi jumped out of the pan like crazy too, but that didn't smash into pieces. They are so hard to depot compared to Mac ones, I haven't tried again because I'm afraid I will ruin them all. But on the other hand, now they just sit unused.

Do you have any tricks that might help? I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I have depotted about hundred Mac shadows without a problem.

how are you depotting them? i've done 30+ UD flip-top shadows, and a few of the old-style screw-top ones.

i found that using pliers to snip the plastic insert away from one part of the pan, then either dropping a fair amount of alcohol into the exposed bit and leaving it to dissolve; or using the flame method that you do with MAC works too. the plastic is thicker so it takes more time and effort.

PLEASE don't use both methods on the same pan, alcohol and flames = bad times. DON'T DO IT!!!

there is a third method, putting the insert into a hot oven to melt the glue [this is how you do the old-style ones too], but it could potentially damage the shadow itself.

basically - it just takes longer and a bit more effort because the insert is made of stronger plastic. be patient and it should work

I always depot without heat, I use pliers and alcohol ( I think I learned this from EnKore?). The UD plastic is so thick, like you said, that it's so easy to break the shadow when using the pliers to cut the plastic.

Psst..I'm not so good in being patient!

I've decided I hate my shadows in 15-pallets, I never use 'em but I think I'll stock up on the new quads and have them in there since I like having my shadows in pallets but the MAC ones are like...too big and bulky, plus the don't fit in my draw.

thankyou for the picture I couldn't find it! I love the packaging but I won't be getting the mirror anymore, I'll save up and hope we get a mystery powder with a lush compact like last year.

yeah, i learned it from EnKore

i've learned that patience is the only way to do it! and that UD mattes are so, so easy to break when you're depotting

maybe one day they'll start selling pans!

i'm the opposite, i depot everything and put it in my 28-palettes. i get them cheap on ebay from singapore or wherever for $3 each and they hold more than MAC ones without the dividers AND look nice and neat
smiles.gif
if they're in anything else i always forget about them! i've got 3 UD Books of Shadows that hardly ever get a look in because they're at the back of my drawer
tong.gif

i'd imagine we do get a mystery powder compact with the couture collection

it's not control, it's funding!

i've convinced myself that a lot of this is dupe-able and i don't want to fall in love with LE products because i'll run out and be up a creek with no paddle!

Do you guys think Darkly My Dear blush will be sorta like Get-away bronze from TTB? I LOVE that blush so much that if its in the same color family I'll get it!

I'm so new to MAC that I don't have a selection of things that could be dupes for other things. I feel like I'm missing out if I skip.

what i tended to forget when i started out was that mac have a HUGE permenant line, so there are tons of dupes from that with no LE rush on them.

don't think that you're missing out either because there's always another collection around the corner that will have things to take your mind off it
th_wink3.gif
[and possible dupes!]

That's a good point. I just worry that the collections will never stop and I will never have a chance to buy from the perm line.

I was going to get Hot House, cuz it's gorgeous, but I think Electric Fuchsia is close enough for me. Cutting my list down slowly.....

every now and again you'll find a collection that makes you go 'meh' and you can have a wee breather
tong.gif

electric fuchsia is supposed to be fairly close to hot house... see, one thing off your list already

I feel like you too. I am new to MAC so I don't have tons of stuff so practically everything is new to me

it can be overwhelming to start with, but if you step back and compare the new products to stuff you have, or what's in the permenant line, you'll save a lot of money/hassle. don't stress over it! it's makeup, it's meant to be fun!

Yeah- that's true. I have liked MAC for a few years, and I have never gotten anything from a summer or winter collection. i rarely like spring ones, too. That will have to be when I buy from the perm line.

I skipped TTB. I like being pale, so lots of bronzers are not my thing.
