I found it laughable that she professed her love for this country and freedom, but then talked about restrictions of other Americans.

hell yes!!

And yea, that contestant that talked about integrity... What the hell?! She was also the one that talked about her pen pal program. All i understood is that she wanted to start one, but not why or anything.

These live broadcasted pageant shows are disasters to begin with. That's what makes them so entertaining.

Miss CA's answer did make me think "lol wtf" but I don't understand the huge controversy over it. Though I disagree with her, I personally have no problem with her conservative beliefs. It would have been wise, however, if she had revised her thoughts to appeal to more mainstream and progressive opinions.

I mean, no one really cares what these girls think, anyway! :/

Amusing and pathetic as it was, it's never as good as "the Iraq" and how most US Americans do not understand basic geography because they don't own maps.

I think its sad that her close mindedness cost her the Crown. She doesn't have to agree or disagree with gay marriage, she could have simply said "I think its an important issue right now and I believe that each state should decide for itself whether it will or will not legalize gay marriage".

And as far as my own personal opinion goes - It just makes me sad that I've grown up in a time where being gay and gay marriage still isn't accepted. I hope by the time I am thirty and have children that, if they are gay, they will be able to live their lives to the fullest... just like I am living mine.

I'm all for gay marriage, but I'll post what someone posted on another board, because I agree with her 100%:

That question should never have been asked in the first place. It's a loaded question, and really, no matter HOW she answered, she would have angered a particular group of people.

Miss CA is supposed to represent, what, the people of CA, (and further down the line, potentially the people of the US) right? Well, that's not a question you can answer and still represent everyone. Someone's gonna be pissed no matter what you say.

I think that everyone in America should have a right to choose who they love and marry...I also believe that everyone in American has a right to choose what they do and do not believe in...makes neither wrong .... Her answer was basically stupid...But she is not wrong for what she believes in...People don't have to agree or like it...Just like she doesn't have to agree or like what others believe in or how they choose to live and love. One person is not the belief of all.

i mean, fine, if that's how you feel. a lot of people feel that way but come on......
like i said, she offended the whole gay community in a nice way (and by nice way i mean with that huge smile on her face and the "i don't want to offend anyone" sentence)
she totally blew that.....

that is exactly how i feel. she should have given an unbiased answer.
and i agree with a post i just read that said it was a loaded question but i feel that these girls get trained to be prepared for ANY questions that are put out there. so if a question like this comes up, in her case, she should be able to give a neutral answer. she basically answered with her own personal beliefs which is fine; some people agree with it and some don't. she said no because marriage should be between a man and a woman but i feel like you have to be more tactful with subjects like that as you don't want to offend anyone.
BUT
thats just me.

oh dear! that video is not good at all! she had no clue on what to say in the first place!

on the gay marriage question i don't agree with what she said but it's her opinion. however surely she would have known that her answer would anger alot of people? she should have stayed open on the whole thing even if she believes it's just for a man and a woman.

personally i think it should be legalised everywhere. just because people make different life choices does not mean that they are not entitled to the same rights and benifits as others.

I do not agree with what Miss California said but I also do not agree with Perez Hilton slamming her left and right. Whether she answered it wrong or right she was going to offend someone because the question itself was very controversial. He is now putting down her family and posting pictures of her and if that is not a hate crime of slander then I don't know what is. I honestly, think this whole thing is gonna make her famous and she is probably already working on a deal for her own reality show...hehe

Thats perez for you. I wonder if after he slanders her does he think.. hey, i'm just as ignorant as she is.
Just because she's an ass doesn't mean he has to sink beneath her.
