personally, i don't think the girl is wrong for her beliefs. she lives in a state that just overturned the rights for same-sex marriage because they voted no or yes (i don't know which one) on proposition 8 or whatever.
BUT
i still think she should have given a more UNBIASED answer. i see where it is a loaded question but as someone representing america or any large organization, you need to know how to be more tactful. i will give it to her that she was probably nervous as hell. i would be too but america is not censored. these people weren't sitting around saying to one another "lets think of the easiest questions we can think of" no. i think perez's question was more than legit because it is a huge issue in america right now so i see nothing wrong with him addressing it. these questions normally center around currents events and same sex marriage is a controversial issue right now. i thought it was a good question. i don't knock her for her beliefs either. that's just how she feels but considering the title she was running for, she has to be careful with what she says. i don't think she should have sugar-coated anything but given the fact that she more than likely voted to overturn the rights for same sex marriage, instead of letting everyone know how you voted just say something like "the people of the state should decide" she was given the choice to decide and i think that should have been her answer.
me personally?
i would have answered like this:
"Well Perez, that is a very good question. Same sex marriage is a very controversial issue in America today and I personally believe that the people of each individual state should be allowed to make the decision on whether or not it should be legalized. Thank you and please vote for me"
