text messaging is annoying.

LOL! This thread and the chain text talk reminds me of a text I got today:

Martin Luther King died in 1964 and Obama is the 44th President after his legacy. Add 1964 + 44 and tell me God ain't Good!

LOL!!! MLK died in '68 and Obama is not the 44th President after his legacy. WTH?? Needless to say, I didn't forward that one.

I totally agree. My aunt thinks its necessary to send about 8-10 'chain texts' a day telling me that if I love her, send it back...If I want good luck, send it back....If I want a million dollars, send it back and so forth and so on. I'm gonna be a broke ass, unlucky bitch whether I send it back or not, so whats the point lol

texting is amazing for things you don't need to call someone over, but yeah, actual conversations should be had in person or over the phone.... and if an argument/long convo starts (somehow) over text, it should continue over the phone.. i would never argue with my bf over text and not CALL him to talk, or vice versa (same with friends).

however, talking on the phone is overrated which is where texting comes in handy... especially when all you have to say is "i'm running late save me a seat" (or something equally as trivial).

My best friend sent me a porn video clip via text once. I opened it up at work. It was full on, gay dudes getting it on, loudly narrating everything they were doing. I was so pissed, I'm pretty sure I punched her the next time I saw her.

I hate when your chilling with someone and they're talking to you but the whole freaking time they're testing their butt off! It ticks me off soo bad it's RUDE!

I use texting but not like an addiction. It's convenient!

I'm an equal oppurtunist lmao.
I do have text pet peeves though.
Namely, "hey, how are you" out of the blue, random, no context whatsoever.
And LMAO as OfficerJenny mentioned "call me". Uh..what? Why not just say what you want in the text message?

I text occasionally, but I'm slow at it so if I have a lot to say I call the person I'm talking to.

I also agree that texting can cause misunderstandings.

I remember one time a friend of mine got a text from her boyfriend that didn't make sense so she asked him what he meant. He said "I resent an old message", she was freaking out wondering what message it was that he was resentful of, when what he really meant was that he re-sent a previous message that didn't fit in with their current conversation. It caused a big fight!

I don't really like texting, I prefer calling. But I do text my mom daily since long distance calls are pricey.

What annoys me the most is to get those 'call me' text messages from some of my friends because they know the company is paying my mobile phone bills.

I have NEVER agreed more with someone about something in my life HAHAHA..

I hate when my bf calls me and is like "hey im on my way"

okay cool- seriously?> You just wasted a minute on my plan to say that when we both have unlimited texting? Friggin kidding me? And great you're on your way- I was expecting you anyways so i WOULDNT be suprised when you showed up @ my house

Or my mom will call me.. ALL THE TIME... and leave me a voicemail that says "call home" "hey it's your mom. call me back"

REALLY? BECAUSE I COULDNT TELL BY THE MISSED CALL THAT SAID "MOM CELL" THAT YOU HAD FLIPPING CALLED ME.

it wastes my damn minutes. Thats why i have unlimited texting... plus i work/go to class... so texting is way easier when i need to talk to someone and cant actually "talk"... also sometimes Im with adler .. trying to get him to sleep.. or he has his "quiet" time.. and i almost alwaysh ave my phone on vibrate so it doesnt wake him up- so texting comes in handy there too

OMG this is so me...I never ever listen to my voice mails unless I see it is from my son's school or from someone I can't call back easily...I actually delete all when I get a msg that my box is full. If I see you called and I miss it...I will call you back...Stop asking me well did you listen to my VM...No, that is why I am calling you back.

Text me....Or if I see a Missed call from you I will call you back...Don't leave me a VM ever! I hate it!

I have mixed feelings about texting.
My boyfriend likes to text me looong romantic messages throughout the day and expects me to reply in the same manner. Emailing would be so much easier!

I don't have a phone with a full keyboard... so it takes forever! I hate using silly texting abbreviations so I almost always spell every word out, fully. My fingers get tired. Grrrr.

I do like texting in certain situations, like when I'm in class or on the bus or some other place where I don't want to talk out loud.

Texting is great for sending quick messages, not so great for love letters!

I love texting. It's a wonderful thing. Especially when you don't feel like talking.
If the convo is more on a serious note, then I'll pick up the phone.

I used to be all about texting lol, but the older I get the more I use the phone as well. Saying that though, I still do love text messaging - and its so appropriate in some places as well (e.g. when you're on a bus, or you have to tell someone somethign in private).

OH, I agree, I hate text messages. I try to tell people that it’s ok, when they can't reach me to leave me an address or change of plans, but don't leave me long messages or jokes. I'm not into messaging back & forth for a long period of time, not only do I not like to type I'm a grown woman, that's for kids, grow up!

I also hate long phone messages and often don't listen to them, when I missed your call, I will just call you back.

I only text when I can't talk, like if im in a movie or class and it's really important. I hate when people text me asking em something when tey could have just called and asked me. And I REALLY hate it when I do text someone and their response is like a one word answer like "okai"....
UGH just call mee !

As far as voicemail goes, if I call you and don't leave a message that means it wasn't important, ie I was just calling to chat or something. If it was important, you will have a voicemail. That's my strategy. Texts are usually for something quick, that I don't need to spend a lot of time relaying. Or for chatting with my bf.

Same strategy here as well. Let's make it universal. lol.
