Yes, Honey, you can live vicariously through us!!

I think I'll be skipping most of MAC after SP - Bloggers doesn't do anything for me, and nothing upcoming has my interest yet. I have to save for the Chanel Holiday haul......
I haven't been too excited for any of the MAC launches -- I did get Evolution Revolution l/g because I thought it would be such a pretty summery shade. It is OK, but I wish it was more pigmented. I didn't buy one thing from the Surf Baby launch. I agree -- more money for Chanel.

Honey~I think people should still hang out and chat with us, even if you don't buy things. We all can't buy everything, nor should we. Sometimes selective buying is the most rewarding and really, none of this forum is about buying. It is about MU and sharing, trying new looks, enjoying the things you have already. MAC's regular items, when it comes to blush and e/s plus a few other things, are really nice. But other than the Quite Cute collection, I have been very disappointed. I don't understand why formulas and colours are not up to their usual standards. NARS fall collection does little for me, except the lip glosses and I hope they might be permanent. At any rate I have enough gloss to last me a lifetime right now! Time to use them up! I am getting very picky over what I buy. I want to get items that are something I know I will wear over and over again until I run out. They have to be colours I can wear well and not just the latest fad. I've decided each year or every 6 months I am going to personally review what I have, what I am using, what was a waste of money and be a smart and happy MU buyer! And have lots of fun here in the process!!

I have been very naughty in other areas -- I have bought myself 5 dresses from Anthro, shoes, accessories . . . my husband said "I liked it better when you were just into the makeup"

^ Couldn't have said it any better myself! Of course, unemployment (even worse, getting let go without warning ONE WEEK after buying a new car, UGH! >_>) has forced me to be extremely careful about what I buy, and that's a good thing as I'm the most impulsive person out here. It's also forced me to use up what I have.

Specktra is an awesome community and I left for a long while because I was afraid of enabling/impulsive buying, but then I came back and wondered why I left. I adore how everyone here can do cartwheels over beauty products and commence the hording but at the same time help each other make informed, sensible decisions with their purchases. It's fun watching specktra friends gush over makeup. :3

I have to stop coming here. Seeing the Byzance Collection makes me cry. Still no sign of the Fall collection here in Canada. We seem to lag about a month behind Chanel-wise.

^^ You're welcome!

Now I'm thinking about Etole.....I got Plumetis and love it (my lips are not that pigmented) - Etole was pretty but I wasn't wowed, but I was in a hurry.......just when my poor wallet thought I was finished beating it up!!!
girlhaha.gif

Elegant, too bad that Plumetis is 'meh' on you - I bet Etole would look really pretty - very subtle!

Great to know you love Plumetis!

elegant - Do you have Stunning RC? How does Stunning look on your lips compared to Pumetis? My lips are pigmented too and I don't like Stunning on, but now I started using UC lift lip cream Stunning looks brighter on me. Your husband is so sweet! :)

Glad you will finally get your order Lou. Hope you love it!!

Not elegant, but until she can get on here to answer you....on my pigmented lips Plumetis is a little lighter/brighter with slightly peachier nude tones compared to Stunning, and also less pearly (I ended up swapping away my Stunning). Did you see them compared in arm swatches here?

I have found that MAC Prep + Prime lip does for me what you're talking about with the Chanel UC lift lip cream too.

Honey&LemonGirl - I feel you too, I kind of need to save more money instead of splurging on cosmetics/clothes/shoes
sweatdrop.gif
. At least until I figured out a way to earn more! I thought of leaving Specktra for a while too, but I just can't... I love everyone around here and I miss them if I'm not logging in
th_hug.gif
.

I think the thing for me was, even though I managed to cut down to only 1 lipstick/eyeshadow/blush per month (which is not *that* much), compared to my RL friends who's not into makeup at all... they'd still think I spend a LOT
girlhaha.gif
. I feel normal around here, though... and thanks to everyone's recommendation I've managed to get only the things I love and I know I would use

I totally agree with this! Right now I'm trying to think of what I need instead of what I want... I realized what I really didn't like was redundancy in my collection, at least not with the kind of budget I have. I'd love to splurge more on lipstick though... lately I loved lipsticks more than lipglosses but I don't have much lipsticks!

I love reading everyone's haul too (albeit a little jealous at times

). Everything in good time, I guess

Btw, does anyone know if the Byzance collection is even going to release in Germany?

When I was (a lot) younger, Lancome was a splurge for me, and I didn't have the advantage of Spektra to help me with my choices.......now that I'm (much) older and farther along in my *career*, it's nice ot have the benefit of being able to share likes/dislikes and make intelligent decisions before spending on a HE brand like Chanel or Guerlain or Le Metier.........I just wish I had a life to live over to use what I have amassed (I've donated or tossed stuff I don't like) - there are so many pretty things and it never stops! It really is an addiction, but I've also honed my skills and tastes over time and get a kick out of trying new things. I'm so glad all of you are here to share your experiences and tastes!

Oh my goodness! What a pain! I have to check my inbox to see if it has been sent out. I would not expect it until Saturday at the earliest and with the holiday weekend I have no idea if I will have to wait instead until Tuesday. But I dreamed in red and gold last night! :)

[h=6][/h] I wish either one of them looked that cool toned on me! It's the rare JC that doesn't turn warm on my skin. They do look very similar on my arm side by side apart from the sparkles tho. The other difference is that my OR is alot more pigmented than my RE.

Shypo - I just want to play with your haul - like a kitten rolling around in wool!

Can I come over?

ElvenEyes - you're so right!

Honey&LemonGirl - I feel you! I've a similar problem. I'm unemployed for a few weeks now, and can't spend as much as I'd like - and I hate it. I've a lot of stuff, but that's not the point. It's more like the excitement to get something new to play with, to get caught in the excitement over a launch here at Specktra, feeling that comeraderie and sharing stories what I've got, how the experience at the counter was and how I used the products for the first time. It's this that I'm missing. But what I resent the most is, that I don't have the freedom to f§$%&*ng do what I please with my money. My job was at no means very well paid, but I didn't have money problems in a long time (I remember being a student though - that was sometimes hard) and was quite free to do what I please with my money. Now I've started to be very careful about money and it's hard enough with a high rent for my appartment, groceries and so on without me spending a lot on MAC and co.
I've too felt that Specktra makes saving money harder, but I love being here!

QueenofSnark - getting a car and then getting let go? Ouch. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Lou - I hope you get your goodies today! DHL can be a pain in the ass for sure!

Astrid - I think not. Sad, isn't it? But good if one tries to save money!

Last year I found it was not a good thing for me to keep up with both Chanel and MAC. Besides the money I really hate having so many things that I can't find the time to use them. I've spent a grand total of $98.72 on MAC in 2011 and don't foresee spending any more. Pretty happy with that!
