MAC - Semi Precious Discussion

From where does it ship in the UK? I hope you get it tomorrow!
All my MAC orders ship from Fareham in the south of England. Is it different for ladies up north?

I ordered from Debehams for the first time because I had a gift voucher. I received an e-mail saying my order was dispatched and the next day I got another e-mail saying my order is being processed. I have no idea when it's going to show up. Am not impressed and will be sticking with ordering from MAC from now on.

I placed an order with MAC as well on Tuesday and no dispatch e-mail yet. My closest MAC counter is about an hour away by train and their staff are rubbish, otherwise I'd prefer to buy in person.

annoyingly my goodies still haven't been dispatched so i won't be getting them today :( boo!

Aww Lou :( I'm sorry it hasn't arrived. Did you specifically pay for named day?! You should be kicking MACs butt if so!!

I'll have swatches and another FOTD later if anyone is still wanting them :)

Ok so I went to my local store this morning and checked out semi precious and this are my initial thoughts on the collection (I hope it helps someone!)

I think if you love mineralize products like me then you are in heaven! All of the eye shadows are stunning and the colour pay off is fab (I would say karla sugars swatches are very accurate). When I was swatching I didn't once think "mm this is a nice shade but I would like to see a wet swatch to see the intensity" because the shadows were fairly pigmented as they were I didn't even think about wet swatches. None of the shades seemed to have fall out apart from quartz fusion but its so pretty I can excuse it! The mua was really helpful and got all the shadows I wanted with the specific type of veining a wanted - its well worth checking out in person if you can for this reason. I loved clarity in person - amazing colour and I also got smoked ruby which I hadn't planned on getting but the mua did a fab smokey eye with it that made my green eyes pop.
The brushes are fab. The synthetic side isn't as stiff as I had imagined it would be. The mua recommended swirling the tip of the small shadow brush and then either side of it into the mineralized shadow. She then patted on the shade with the synthetic side and then placing the brush horizontally into my crease with the natural side facing upward she used the remaining shadow left on the brush to define the crease. The synthetic side gave definition while the natural side buffed out the colour upwards (sorry if the description isn't great)
By far one of my favourite items of the whole collection is the cheek brush. The mua used the synthetic side to apply studio sculpt foundation and then used the tip to buff it in for an air brushed finish-love love love
I also looked at the creamsheen glosses. I didn't get geo pink but would note that it's not orange like alot of the swatches seem to show it although I wouldn't really class it as pink, more coral. I picked up pure magnificence which I originally wasn't going to do cause I have fashion scoop but pm is more muted and opaque.
Hoped the rambling helped!

ps: Piarpreet I would defo bring jades fortune back. What you bought was meant to be a shadow with veining in it so if there is feck all veining then it's not what you paid for. Saw this in store today and its beautiful - its got the most stunning royal blue veins...well worth getting what you wanted rather than a plain yellow shadow imo

Ok, I'm thinking that my 2 must haves from this collection are the 235 and Golden Gaze. Anyone willing to confirm this for me so I don't go crazy in the store today?

I received my Semi Precious order today with 11 MES (Unsurpassable was unavailable at Debenhams, will pick it up tomorrow), all 4 MSFs and 2 blushes. I love the look of the eyeshadows, my Jade's Fortune has the most gorgeous shimmery blue vening.

I don't think I could've chosen a better one in person.

Here are some pictures, there'll be more on my blog later today with some swatches too. :)

your clarity looks beautiful too! I picked up a similar one today...I just didn't want to get one with loads to black veining in it....I am starting to think I might get jades fortune if there are any left in a week or two...I have to let my card cool down!

I planned on getting up early today and heading to my mac counter but my alarm didn't go off for some reason and now I just feel tired and lazy. I must not be -that- into this collection because I almost don't care at all. But I'm trying to get myself together to go and hopefully they have what I want.

I felt the same way too! I almost forced myself to go to the counter because I didn't care if I'd missed anything (but the little beast on my shoulder said I should go in case I regret it later).

I would defo recommend getting a brush - either the 234 or the 128. I have only started playing with both and I love them. The 234 is like a cross between a 217 and a 224 but since it is split both sides are much slimmer and therefore more control imo cause both the 217 and 224 would be fluffier and denser. I would recommend playing with them in store and seeing what you like. Also the feel of the synthetic side is more like a 242 than a 217 - more sleek if you know what I mean!

Yes, I'm very pleased it doesn't have lots of black veining! I've been very lucky with these, or maybe the person choosing them for me has a very good taste, lol.

Back with some swatches of Mineral Mode, Unsurpassable, Golden Gaze, Clarity and HoS. The lighting here is terrible but I managed one swatch set with fair natural light, the rest are with flash but I've done this to show how these shades capture light - I've even managed to capture the essence of Clarity that I couldn't seem to get yesterday. I love how its a smokey grey/black base with gorgeous flashes of multi-tonal light running through it, I'm glad that my MES seem perfectly balanced colour wise. All swatches are dry believe it or not, and I managed to snap a really natural looking day time look using mineral mode all over the lid, and HoS from lash line up to crease. Rose Quartz again used as a blush . I am in love ladies - can I just say a big thank you to Lou?! You told me not to base my purchase on Temptalia's review, and I'm so glad you did. I love these shadows!

I had the same little beast and he got me out the door pretty quickly actually and I'm already back home. I am glad I went and very happy with what I got. I went for Blue Sheen & Gem of Roses but while the MA was helping someone else, I swatched Unsurpassable and I really loved it so I got that too.

If I had more money, I might have gotten the kabuki--it was really soft and I need to replace my kabuki that I have now but I just couldn't bring myself to spend any more today.

Ooo MrsB, pretty! You look so natural and fresh with the mineralized things on. I found that too when I used mine this morning, they just don't seem heavy.

Thank you, I couldn't a agree more with the minerals - I just think its impossble to over do them, they seem to apply really naturally no matter what I used - be it fingers or brushes, if I had more £s I'd be going back for seconds

I should stop looking at this thread! I was basing my lack of interest in the MES on the bloggers' horrible swatches. Now I see the looks and pics from MrsB, mOrg3nst3rn, and others. They MES look so much better than on the blogs. How is that possible? I am resisting going to my MAC counter today!

Thanks! I'm gonna look at the 234 since i just use concealer on face but i use a fluffy brush like the 187. I'm gonna play with it first like you said. How would you recommend using the 234?
